chuck bell is out in the storm team 4 x 4. >> we're okay now. we have the crash at wood dlrks. starting with 270 and slick spots. i did see a couple of slick spots on the ramps. be careful as you head out this morning. randolph road here in rockville railroad gates out of service. this happened when it was cold la we had chopper over that. a warning there. at things overall. no major problems. we have the water main break southern avenue southeast between y place. of course they moved the camera this is one of the crashes tom was talking about. we have two lanes blocked. they flipped the camera around. >> thank you. 5:03 now. right now a road is closed in alexan r main. it's one of several caused by the weather.

it could be affecting an elementary schoon mcgrath is live where it's happening on janney's lane. good morning. what does it look like now? >> reporter: good morning. what i can tell work is still going on with regard to the broken water main. e crews behind me. they're in the hole there. the broken pipe still being repaired. janney's lane is closed here in alexandria between west taylor run parkway and sky hill road. we've got a situation where a road closed but we also have a situation where a nearby elementary school. this broken water main knocked out water to about 100 custome including macarthur elementary school which is located just up the street. the school system said if they don't get water back on in time for kids to go class this morning, macarthur elementary school will be closed for the day. now the last update we got from the school system was about five hours ago. they said they are still monitor the

situation and would let people know the status of the school. at this point we haven't gotten the update. it's still early in the morning. them. i have sent an e-mail to the school officials and we are expecting to hear pretty soon what the decision is with regard to whether the elementary school will open or not. gauging by the work that is going on behind me here it looks like they don't have repairs done. sometimes, however, with water main in this case can detour the water around using other pipes and restore some of the customers. whether they've been able to do that in this case we're not sure at this point. we are going to keep on top of it. we'll let you know as soon as we find out. >> thank you. pipe problems affecting prince george's county today. the district court is closed once again. here is the scene from inside the courthouse. this is video before the water main broke and employees were still inside at the time. you can see it looks like it's

raining down the hall. the court since closed for the last week because of these problems. court workers say computers, case files, and evidence are all at risk of water damage. today a d.c. nurse charged with sexually assaulting patients heads back to court. jared cline attacked patients at three d.c. hospitals and one prince george's county hospital. d.c. police say kline likely has more victims. the incidents date back as far as may 2013. five minutes after the hour now. the man accused of jumping the white house fence expected in feder -year-old omar gonzalez has a status hearing. investigators say he jumped the fence and went inside the n made it to the east room before secret services tackled him. it lead to the resignation of the secret service director. gonzalez pleaded not guilty. we're learning about a s vandalized in the district. it happened at the ivy city

mosque in northeast washington. we're learning from the mosque director that the inside of the mosque was damaged including broken chairs windows, scattered prayer books. if you have any information call d.c. police. dozens of school activities and resources on a list of possible cuts in prince william county schools. the school board said it's working with a deficit of more s year because the county gave it less money. full day kindergarten athletic programs and school security could be cut in response. the board e class sizes and raise a teacher pay. d.c. mayor's empowering males of color initiative is facing criticism. we're learning that the acls questioning the program boys only. the aclu said the district's black female students share many of the same struggles as their male counter parts. d.c. council member has requested a legal evaluation of the $20 million program. in addition the aclu letter

good morning. i'm storm team 4 meteorologist. chuck mentioned th dul shattered the record. the old record was 14. now it's one below zero. temperatures are down to near zero in montgomery fairfax, as well as loudoun, prince william. shenandoah valley near 1 degrees. in frederick it's 1 above. washington right at 16 degrees.

we'll stay frigid through the morning with a clear sky and a calm w aaron? >> thank you. we're working to find out what caused this masse fire. chopper 4 flew over the scene there as flames ripped through the k & k tire warehouse last night. flames and thick black smoke were billowing into the area. investigators are trying to figure out what lead to the crash that killed one person and killed two others in the district. we're hearing from a woman that rushed to help the victims there. police say a driver of an suv crashed into two cars and hit a light pole causing the suv to flip crushing one person who was walking on the sidewalk. it happened last night at h and 4th street outside the government accountability office. the college student who was cpr certified which was about 20 feet away. >> i had my headphones in. i heard an explosion. a large crash and i turned around to see the vehicle, as you can see there, flipped over.

tracie potts live on capitol hill nw are lawmake planning on a comprise? >> we're watching the policy lunches separate between democrats and republicans in the senate to see if they come up with some way to break the gridlock. th immigration. senate republicant to homeland security's budget and get rid of the president's immigration orders that protect up to 5 million immigrants in this country without documentation. democrats do not want to see that link. and that is the key issue right now. so until they can work through that it looks like homeland security funding may in fact be in jeopardy. even if they come up with something in the senate it's not necessarily a done deal they'll accept it in the house where they're a lot more conservatives. we know the president met with governors all over the country. what are they saying? >> they're frustrated. the governors say, look if you can't get it together in washington it's going to be our watch.

special forces. mcdonnell released a statement said he was inaccurate when he responded that he was in the special forces too. the va website said he served in the 82nd airborne division. a state audit shows a the maryland transit administration fail millions of dollars in labor costs connected to the purple line. according to the baltimore sun. last week transportation officials said they were pushing back a major deadline for companies seeking to build and operate the $2.45 billion project. the purple line would connect montgomery and prince george's county. it would include 21 stops. all of the snow days wed lately could mean a lot of kids are going to spend moren class this spring. several public schools are just about to schedule make up days.

13 be hour now. crews will begin construction on the third street tunnel project in d.c. part of the capital crossing development. richard jordan live in northwest with how it could affect you. >> good morning. the barricades are already up and have been up for quite awhile. but that's been youutility work. today is when the constructio begins. here is what you need to know. it will be from new york avenue to d street. this is to put a deck over a portion of 395 and extend third street. there is one closure connected to the project that is the 395 southb off ramp. that will be closed. for e most part there shouldn't be a big impact at least during the rush hour. during t morning and evening rush hour. most of the work and lane closures will be overnight from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. however, traffic will be running there around the clock. there could be traffic down to

one lane. there will be traffic moving on 395. this is a big improvement from the alternative because d was considering closing 395 for most of the project. however, get used to the delays this project is expected to last up to four years. reporting live this morning in northwest washington. richard jordan. a homeowner in montgomery county said a repairman came back and broke into his home and stole money. dr. paul and his wife were home during the break in that happened last week in bethesda. he said the men went for a box filled with $10,000 in cash and rare coins. the accused robbers explained why they did it. >> we're not going to hurt you. we will not hurt you. we respect you. and then he said we're doing this because the economy sucks. that's sucks. >> the men are waking up in jail now charged with home invasion

assault, and theft. a maryland father lost and two children when a plane crashed into their home. this was the scene from the terrible day. ken gemmells is sharing his story for the first time. news 4 angie goff spoke with him. >> ken gemmells lost most of his family. it touched starts here and across the nation. when i sat down to talk with him, he told me his wife was a hero who died trying to protect their two sons 3-year-old cole and devon who was seven weeks old. >> i knew he was trying to do everything she could to keep them calm and try to save them. but to make sure it wasn't painful for them. >> his wife marie was found cradling their babies trying to shield them from the smoke and fire after the plane crashed. in a matter of days, hundreds of
