mcintosh also ready for a change, a single mom who lives on her own and wants to plan for the future. >> i'm penny wise and pound foolish. i still think there's a lot of room for improvement. >> reporter: both women responded to a facebook post where we asked for volunteers to participate in a financial fast challenge. >> i felt that it was almost like a sign when i saw that facebook posting that this was my time to get things taken care of. >> reporter: the challenge read and carefully follow this book, the 21-day financial fast written by michelle singletary, a nationally syndicated financial columnist for "the washington post." the rules, no plastic and no impulse spending for 21 days. jackie and karen will only buy what they need with cash. >> i feel excited. >> reporter: both women face different money challenges. jackie wants to control her spending. >> american girl doll, that has probably been the worst. my kids don't need most of it, but i'm excited about it, so i like to buy them lots and lots of things. i haven't been able to stop. >> reporter: jackie also wants to start saving money for retirement, her children's

generally light south to eventually west early breezes. could be breezy at times. pretty good kite flying weather. 46 in frederick, maryland 50 in quantico 50 in fredricksburg. these are the neighborhoods soufth along the northern neck. those are the places that could get up close to 60 degrees both today and tomorrow. temperatures right now are 20 to 30 degrees warmer. culpepper is 34 degrees warmer now than we were at the same time yesterday. that tells you for sure march is trying to do its thing, that stronger and stronger march sunshine out there. most of the snow is gone on the side roads. 40s for the next couple hours. low and mid 50s around the metro area later today. hometown forecast in oakton virginia mid 50s today, near freezing tonight and back up into the upper 50s to near 60 tomorrow. watt to wear the next couple

days? this styling young man, a leather jacket and sunglasses. >> the fonz. >> the fonz. you're killing me. 55 today. near 60 tomorrow. rain likely tuesday afternoon, tuesday night, wednesday morning. wednesday afternoon and thursday are great. another chance for rain showers comes in as we head towards friday and saturday. the friday rain could be chilly with temperatures down into the 40s. the fonz you're killing me over here. >> i said "risky business." >> you wouldn't talk to chuck todd this way. >> shifting to politics now, this weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the voting rights march from selma to montgomery alabama. >> joining us to talk about it moderator of "meet the press" chuck todd is here. we want to get right to it. you spoke with congressman john lewis about it who was at the initial march. tell us what he had to say. >> i'll play a little clip for you. i asked what had more lasting effects, the physical or the
10:19 am
mental injuries. >> the physical scars are still visible. when i go back i remember the bridge for me almost a sacred place. that's where some o little blood and where some people almost died. but that bridge what happened on that sunday have changed america forever. >> yesterday, i thought president obama gave perhaps one of the best speeches he's given as president. these commemorative speeches are very difficult because people have these ridiculously high expectations. >> especially him. >> especially him in this moment. he met the moment in a way that i haven't seen him meet in a long time on something like this. you could see it. there was universal praise for what he did. this is clearly above politics. john lewis is a living american hero. when you hear him describe exactly every second of what happened that day, it is

something -- it was mesmerizing. we want to talk about hillary clinton, also. >> politics also seeps in. we got to get in here it's washington. >> she had a speech last night. the former secretary of state did not mention the e-mail controversy. aside from the tweet we haven't really heard from her. at this point are the democrats starting to show any signs that they're sweating over this? we know donors already are. some saying she's waited too long to address this. >> you'll hear from senator dianne feinstein, somebody very supportive of the clintons over the years, very supportive of hillary clinton. you'll get a sense of a tiny bit of frustration, like why is she having to defend secretary clinton? why isn't secretary clinton defending secretary clinton? president obama speaking out about it was very careful not to defend what she did, simply saying i'm glad she's going to disclose. there is hand wringing
10:21 am
particularly in particularly who think she's fallen into a trap that frankly obama folks took advantage of in '07 saying she's not an open and transparent person, the clintons are in to secrecy. >> does this open up a whole other discourse on benghazi? >> i think what it ends up opening up is it gives congressional republicans their own belief that they're credible now in their investigation. obviously democrats have been trying to dismiss it as a witch hunt going after the clintons for sport. without this investigation we wouldn't have found out about the i mail server. i think it means this committee lives on and becomes sort of a thorn in her side throughout the presidential campaign. we have a big vote coming up on march 17. benjamin netanyahu, the prime minister of israel who just spoke to congress. what do we need to look for this week? what is going to be the big thing to see? >> it's interesting. with him, that's something totally overlooked last week i think in coverage of what
10:22 am
happened. this for him was about his own domestic politics. when insecurity is the number one issue to voters. that's always traditionally been good for his party. this is his strength. if the election had been about domestic issues and the economy, he would be in more trouble right now, sort of the domestic side of israeli politics sort of like ours. >> all right. a lot to talk about today. coming up right after the show. you can see "meet the press" with chuck right after "news 4 today." well the time right now 10:22. we're going to meet a young boy who says he is training to be the pope. we'll tell you about his special story. >> that's right. keep it right here for "press pass" this morning after "meet the press," an in depth conversation with some of the biggest news makers. you can see press pass at 11:30
