later this evening. so we'll have these mostly clear skies with us. coming up next weather and traffic on the 1s at 5:1 # 1, your bus stop forecast what to wear now back to you. right now the potomac avenue metro station is back open after a deadly shooting there. metro says the shooting should not have any affect on your commute this morning as trains are no longer single tracking. a metro transit officer shot someone inside before 9:00 p.m. last night. molette green has more on what led up to the shooting. >> reporter: we just saw some of the first passengers arrive just a few moments ago going into the station town the escalator. metro tweeted out that there would be normal service, their on scene investigation is complete. there is lots we still don't know as this investigation really is starting to unfold. but here is what we did know. there was an operator of a

passing train who first spotted this man insides tunnel near potomac avenue. he was feet inside. metro says the man was not authorized to be there. what is still unclear is why the man was there in the first place, whether he was armed at all. and what happened that prompted metro transit police to fire multiple times. the man still has not been identified and this happened shortly after 9:00 last night. the officer who fired the shot is on routine leave until the investigation is complete. now we want to go over on melissa mollet who has more on the traffic news around town. good morning. as far as other things happening this morning, good news that potomac avenue is open running on time. so good for all of you who go through that station. as for the roads, 395 northbound and southbound at seminary we do have some slowdowns because of shall construction. branch avenue closed between

crashing a car on white house grounds after a night of drinking last week. the incident has again created concerns about secret service culture. today you could learn more about the budget in prince george's county. the county executive will unveil his 2016 proposal at 2:30 today. and that announcement will be streamed live. four new schools are coming to d.c. next school year. kaya henderson made that announcement yesterday. d.c. public school system plans to cut staff and spending at either central office. and that will open up funding for the new schools and the 200 new school based staff members. most of those new hires will work in the city's high schools. today in montgomery county a big thank you to the men and women who keep our community safe. the valor awards are today at north bethesda at noon. the awards honor local leaders who have shown exceptional bravery. quick work saved the lives of

contagious disea it's one of just a handful of such units in the country. this is the second patient with ebola to be treated here at nih. the first was nurse nina pham. she contracted the virus at a dallas hospital while treating thomas duncan a liberian man who fell ill shortly after arriving here in the u.s.. pham was successfully treated and is now ebola-free she was released in the fall. as for this new patient, not much information is being released by the hospital. we don't know their age or gender for example. we do know that the patient is a health care worker who had been volunteering ifn sierra leone. the patient is being flown in isolation on a special chartered jet and is expected to arrive later today. back to you guys.

i'm richard jordan at the live desk following breaking news. a medical helicopter has crashed in oklahoma near tulsa. that helicopter was en route from tulsa to mcallister when it went down. not clear if it was on a medical call at the time. but there were at least three people on board that helicopter. their fate also unknown. the faa and ntsb are on their way to the scene to investigate. we're following the latest developments right now in the search for 11 service members who were on board a black hawk helicon it crashed. heavy fog continues to delay search efforts. the chopper went down off of the florida panhandle tuesday night p. most of the wreckage was found yesterday. so far the bodies of seven marines and in our army national guard s men have not been recovered. today the business community in fairfax county helping to rally behind a store owner whose shop was wrecked by vandals.

postnet in vienna has been closed for a month now after almost every single piece of equipment there was broken. we're told the repairs and replacements may cost up to 100 thourng. the owner james cudney says he appreciates all the encouraging messages that other business owners and customers painted on the windows. cudney plans to reopen possibly as soon as may. no arrests have been made. a murder indictment thrown out. it is the latest twist in the case of a north carolina teenager murdered while visiting her sister in maryland. yesterday a judge dismissed an indictment against michael johnson, the map man accused of murdering felicia barnes. her body was found months later in the susquehanna river. this would have been johnson's third trial. today a 60s member panel holds a discussion on how colleges deal with sex assault complaints. they're focusing on schools that involve student college disciplinary committees. the panel says the student committees are not equipped to

deal with the allegations ant committee rulings have huge impacts on student's lives. the panel will address complaints from both victims and students who say they have been falsely accused. the security director for the baltimore ravens says he's not guilty in an alleged assault case. darren sanders is accused of grabbing a woman's breast and back side and kissing her without her permission. she says it happened back in december while she was walking sanders to his car. sand ders denies the allegations. he's set to go on trial in may. 5:19. developing story this morning. isis says it has now expanded into africa. the islamic state militant group says it has joined forces with extremist group boko haram. we're learning that they accepted a pledge of loyalty the nigern based group. both are struggling against increased military pressure. a fraternity kicked off cam

tuesday pe at the university of oklahoma has hired a lawyer. the fraternity was kicked off campus after video emerged showing member hes chanting a racist song. jones says that he is outraged that the sa chlt members have been branded as racist and bigots. a washington state mother says the teen who nearly abducted a toddler over the weekend may have tried something similar to this in the past. this is surveillance video of a 15-year-old boy who grabbed a 22 month old baby from a stroller. the toddler's seb links actually ran after him on wednesday. that teen was arrested. one woman says the same teen tried walking off with her 11-year-old autistic summer last summer. >> i'm like hey, what are you doing? and he goes i was tabbing him home. and i said you know what this is his home. >> police it investigate the teen for child luring in that case as well. it is time to take a look at our draft. cold start to our day. but it's not going to stay this tom, what can we look forward

disaster declaration yesterday. that means a lot of federal money to help with the recovery efforts there. as you know, maine was hit with major snow and flooding th winter. a new report says raising the legal smoking age for cigarettes could save hundreds of thousands of lives. the report says national age for legal tobacco use if raised from 18 to 21, there would be about a qu a million fewer premature deaths. they say the number of smokers would drop 2%. right now 99% of smokers start before the age of 19. new york city has already raised the legal smoking age to 21. several states are considering doing the same. they say you need to eat for two when you're pregnant but a new study reveals about half of all women gain too much weight. only one third of women gain just about the right of weight recommended by the institute of medicine. women who are overweight or obese before pregnancy have the highest risk of excessive weight gain but the most obese women

streets of ferguson missouri this time not just to protest, but also to pray. this all comes as a manhunt continues for the person who shot two police officers wednesday night. chris pollone is live in ferguson with more on what is happening there. chris, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. the streets here in ferguson are quiet this morning. heavy rain that moved through around midnight last night put an end to the latest police protest that was here. police say that they have questioned several people and they have also collected evidence but so far no arrests in the shooting of those two police officers. now, as you mentioned, as they have done several times since the killing of michael brown, people took to the streets here in ferguson but this was a prayer vigil that they held. they prayed for the two police officers who were shot as they stood outside the ferguson police department early yesterday morning. one officer of course was shot in the face the other in the shoulder. both men have been released from the hospital and witnesses say that the 100 yards away.

now there is a muntdanhunt trying to figure out who fired those shots. shortly after that prayer vigil some protester, a few dozen, did come out here to the ferguson police department, they held signs saying justice for michael brown. they chanted no justice, no peace. but the crowd seemed pretty peaceful again last night. now, for the protests that are going on here in ferguson the missouri state police and also the sluice county police department has taken over the security here in ferguson at night and last night it seemed to be fairly successful. we even saw protesters shaking hands with p leaders have announced about $13,000 worth of rewards for people who give information leading to an arrest. live in ferguson, chris pollone. back to you. and in the after math of the justice department investigation, six cities have been chosen for a new pilot

project to help curb racial bias. ft. worth, gary, stock son birmingham, minneapolis and pittsburgh. researcher will conduct interviews in those cities. the goal is to develop plans to build trust between police and the communities they serve. d.c. police are trying to figure out whether two shootings that happened just blocks apart are connected. a man is in critical condition this morning after he was shot yesterday afternoon. it happened on 4th street in northwest washington. d.c. police think this shooting may be linked to an overnight homicide on jefferson street. 20-year-old chris adams was found dead in a car on jefferson street around 2:00 this morning. he had been shot. adams was a graduate of wilson high school in northwest. police are searching for the armed robber who hit this bank in wheaton. chopper 4 over the bank as police taped off the entrance. at one point, officers did have a man in custody, but he was

released. a developing story right now from the live desk. the search is over for victims that may have been buried under the rubble of a building collapse in bangladesh. the roof of the five story building came crashing down. seven people were found dead. initially there was shall conome confusion about how much were trapped. about 150 were working in the building at the time but now rescuers have determined that there are no other bodies or survivors. the cause of the collapse is now under investigation. 5:35 now. a 6-year-old mclean boy who was badly hurt in a sledding accident has now returned home. bensten schone was shredding on a steep driveway in january when he slid into a passing car. his family september these these pictures of his homecoming. his story had quickly spread through social media when his family posted #prayforbman.

it really is jammed. these are just linger backups. branch avenue southeast closed from pennsylvania avenue to alabama. we have a pole down there because of an accident. wide look at things overall beltway looking quite good. we like to see that. 66 east of compton road have a disabled truck off to the right. doesn't seem to be slowing things down too many here at all. 95 north slow through dale city. 23 miles per hour. and th back up again. beltway at central avenue inner loop and outer loop, everything looking good. again, this is our biggest problem. 270 south at father hurley. we'll talk more about this in the 6:00 hour. gm is recalling some of its hybrid cars because of what can happen when you forget to turn off the vehicle. landon dowdy is live with more on this. >> so gm is recalling about
