a puzzle come together of a deadly police shooting inside a metro station. out of the gate with breaking news, a bank robbery in chase through the streets of washington. a guy hold up a bank jumps in an suv, then another driver outruns the secret service all the way to bethesda. >> it all started at the wellso along connecticut avenue near the van ness metro station this afternoon. one witness says he saw the gunman taking off. >> for me work here i've never seen anything like that, you know the wells fargo here always seemed to be great and it's never been a problem at all. i actually, you know come in this bank all the time. >> we'll keep you updated on air and with our nbc washington app as we learn more. now to a bizarre murder case that began with one man asking for help from a pastor. >> that pastor is now dead and they said the guy they arrested was yelling. kristin wright is live

>> well the pastor was killed in this house here and police say when they got here their suspect said "i killed demon, just kill me." connery dagadu served the beautiful feet world impacting center. he started the ministry about three years ago with another pastor. he was 57 originally from liberia. the ministry operated out of this house in germantown. dagadu lived there with another minister who established beautiful feet with him. they routinely invited people here to pray. he would also cast away demons in those who felt they were possessed. pastor got a call from a man in pennsylvania recently who said he was po celticsed by demons and hearing voices. dagadu invited roland zina to the house in germantown. he came tuesday. the other minister in the house tells me they prayed, listened to scripture, everything was

fine. he spent the night. but the next morning police say sine strangled the pastor to death. this is wednesday. he's charged with first-degree murder today. he will undergo a mental evaluation. we spoke with this other minister who lives here in the house. he was with dagadu when he was killed. she says that she was also threatened. we'll have her account of what exactly happened here coming up tonight at 5:00. back to you. an ebola patient at nih is in serious condition according to doctors at the facility in bethesda nape ear not releasing the name of the american health care worker. he or she contracted the virus treating ebola patients in sierra leone. the patient arrived at nih around 5:00 this morning after being transported in isolation on a chartered plane. first a racist video in oklahoma and now a local fraternity is being investigated after someone unearthed a racist and sexist e-mail.

derrick ward has been at the university of maryland, where the student who sent the e-mail has already been disciplined. >> reporter: it all started with an e-mail that's more than a year old but sparked a timely debate on the college park campus. the e-mail was sent by a student, a member of the campus chapter of the kappa sigma fraternity. it used racial slurs referring to african-american and asian women. the author also wrote about sexually assaulting women during rush wee the e-mail was dated january of last year and is just stassing but reaction from the university's president was quick once he learned about it earlier this week. he said "the vulgar language in the e-mail expresses views that are reprehensible to our campus community. we immediately met with the individual involved and a university investigation is under way." as word of the e-mail spread among -- >> wow, that'sry duck louse that we're in 2015 and people are still singling out and just --

wow. it needs to t stopped. >> reporter: the kappa sigma fraternity suspended the student after learning about the e-mail and are moving to formally expel him from the chapter. greek life staff are already planning what they're calling educational interventions with kappa sigma after spring break. university president wallace lowe took to twitter for an online discussion with students. more of that coming up on news4 at 5:00. derrick ward news4. the oklahoma university chapter of sae is being represented by a high-profile attorney and we just heard from him. steven jones also represented oklahoma city bomber timothy mcveigh. he says the entire chapter at sae in oklahoma has been unfairly labeled as ra following the video of what a lot people feel is a racist chant. they want a meeting with the president of the school, the aclu and the local ncaa. chapter.

>> we believe that working together in a positive manner we can find a solution that is acceptable to everyone to make this a teachable moment and an educational moment for what is seriously a flawed incident. >> jones says he doesn't represent the two members of the fraternity expelled from the university. sae's national spokesman says they've stopped communicating with the chapter in oklahoma sxwroop the white house jumper who made it into the residence pleaded guilty today in a deal with prosecutors. omar gonzalez had a knife in his pocket when he jumped the fence, dashed to the white house and made it all the way to the east room before he was stopped. the incident back in september capped a series of security breaches that led to a major shake-up at the secret service. sentencing is set for june. and we're working to learn more about a man shot and killed by police inside a metro station. police say a train operator reported seeing a man in a

tunnel at the potomac avenue station last night. metro had to cut power so officers could go in and search. about 400 feet inside the tunnel we're told a female officer encountered the man and fired several shot ts at him. at this point polie not identified the man or said what he may have been doing in that tunnel. new at 4, the first look at a controversial budget plan that could affect a lot of people in prince george's county. this includes laying off 110 workers and five furlough days for other county employees. there would also be a property tax increase which would cost homeowners an extra $300 a year on a $200,000 home. county executive baker says the additional revenue would fund education improvemen to hire more police and firefighters. tracee wilkins digs deeper coming up on news 4 at 5:00. we have suffered our first injury in the u.s. mission to train and advise in iraq.

an american soldier was grazed by a pull et this week when he and another soldier came under fire at a night watch at an iraqi training facility near baghdad. the gunfire came from outside the compound. soldiers returned fire but the shooter got away. the wounded soldier was treated and immediately returned to duty. this afternoon, storm team 4 is tracking changes in our forecast. take a look at the radar. you can see rain heading our way and fast. amelia segal is tracking it. >> we'll be tracking rain showers moving into the area as early as 8:00. you still have a few more hours to walk the dog, have the kids get some fresh air outside before the rain moves in. if you have dinner plans this evening, scattered showers in place, otherwise cloudy skies. by 9:00 more widespread rain and rain continues at times overnight tonight. our temperature right now is at

some scary moments this morning along a northern virginia road. chopper 4 flew over braddock road this morning in chantilly. we got there as a tow truck arrived to help a driver who had veered off the road near a creek. this afternoon we're still working to learn what caused that crash and if anyone was hurt. new details about an incident in wisconsin where a police officer killed an unarmed teenager in a protest. the medical examiner says tony robinson died of gunshot wound to his head arm, and torso. it's not clear how many times he was shot. robinson was 19 years old and biracial. last friday a white police officer shot and killed him. they were responding to reports that a imagine was jumping in and out of traffic and had

assaulted someone. in maryland, many people convicted of certain crimes will soon get a so-called second chance. today the state senate unanimously passed a bill that would give people convicted of some nonviolent crimes a clean slate. if approved it would apply to people who have served sentences for crimes like disturbing the peace, trespassing, possession of -- or possession and i'm not sure of, what and prostitution as well. those folks could also apply to make their records inaccess to believe the public. weekend repairs aren't the only things that will delay you this weekend. what you need to know even if you're not attending one very big event this weekend. storm team 4 radar, rain .

well we have just learned that a marine from virginia is among the victims of tuesday's tragic black hawk helicopter crash. master sergeant thomas saunders was from williamsburg virginia. seven marines and four louisiana national guard soldiers were killed when their chopper went down in dense fog during a routine trai mison tuesday. the marines were stationed at

camp lejeune. more delays may lie ahead in the charles severance murder case. the hospital's report on severance's mental competency is not yet finished an the hearing about it is scheduled for thursday. news4 as learned the defense team wants that hearing claiming there won't be enough time to review the report. prosecutors say the hearing should be held as scheduled because it's common to get such reports eve andai before the hearing. a heads up if you plan to ride med meth row this weekend. the green line trains will be running every 16 minutes, and metro is advising right fielders on the blue and silver lines to w for more time if traveling to or from the five stations at the eastern end, like addison road and largo. it's all part of a $5 billion reconstruction project that will install some new rails, platforms, escalators and communication systems. news4's melissa mollet explains why metro also has to plan around a very big event this weekend. >> the rock 'n' roll marathon,

. if you ear in the market for a new car, you could see some changes to the warranties that are out there. consumer reporter erik looking into this. >> i have. this is something to look forward to. if you are going to be purchasing in 2016 what we're talking about here is general motors and its extended warranties. vehicles are going to be slashed by several thousand miles. the extended warranty on 2016 chevy and gmc warranties will go from five years and 100,000

miles to five years or 60,000 miles, making it just about even with companies like ford chrysler and toyota. but it doesn't end there. the company will also cut down its maintenance program now. two visits within the first two years instead of four visits. why the changes? gm's higher-ups say extended warranties and free maintenance are just not a good enough reason for people to buy a new car. and gm wants to reinvest that money elsewhere. >> so basically it hasn't been drawing people into the dealerships. >> puts them wavrge almost all the other big car players. >> he's also got tom news about another recall. it seems like a new one every day. this one gas pedals? >> yes. this has to do with kia soul 2013 2015 kia souls. the gas pedals on these models can bend or break if you push them hard enough. they're recalling nearly 200,000

first at 4, a wave of wet weather headed our way. >> storm team 4 is tracking rain showers that will start falling in our area in just a matter of hours. so when will it dry out and what can we expect after that? amelia segal joins us with an update in just a few moments. we are tracking developments in ferguson missouri where a search is under way for is suspects who shot two police officers. >> jay gray is live outside the police department where the attack took place. what are you hearing? >> reporter: good evening, barbara. county police say finding the suspects in the shootings of those two officers is their top priority right now. they continue their investigation as protesters continue their push for change. a steady soaking rain seems to have dampened the tension in ferguson for now. a day after two police officers were wounded by gunfire. the manhunt for suspects in the

at soggy conditions throughout the day tomorrow. temperatures right now for the most part are in the 50s. 52 in leesburg 48 in washington and 51 for those of you in camp springs with mostly cloudy skies. here's your weekend outlook. if you're going skiing the better day is sunday. it will still be slushy snow but at least you won't be dealing with rain as well. the rock 'n' roll half marathon/marathon dealing with fog and rain. you want to make sure you're prepared for the rain. and the st. patrick's day parade taking place in washington on sunday. it's breezy it's cool with a jacket you should will be just fine at the parade there. i'll have a breakdown of your sunday forecast in just a second. first let's talk more about saturday as we move these graphics along. foggy start on saturday morning. visibility about a half of a mile or less at 6:00 a.m. so that is dense fog. then after that it starts to improve. we're still tracking fog until about 10:00 a.m. if you are traveling early tomorrow morning, keep in mind you'll not only be dealing with rain but fog as well.

temperature around 47. by 11:00 a.m. we're at 54 degrees. 62 at 3:00 p.m. 7:00 it's mainly dry. and after a rainy day you're saying what's going on? the temperature, 64 doesn't feel so bad outside. sunday it's dry, but it's cooler. high of 57 degrees. it's a chilly start, and it will be breezy throughout the day so that high of 57 will feel more like 50 degrees during the afternoon. but we'll see plenty of sunshine as we get into the afternoon and evening hours. so the better weekend day will be sunday just because we won't be tracking rain. monday a high temperature of 61 degrees. tuesday it's breezy a high of 58. this is st. patrick's day. and we're looking at cloud mixed throughout the day and again the breezy conditions but not too bad but we can't say absolutely gorgeous because of the breezy conditions we'll be tracking. wednesday, thursday plenty of sunshine highs in the mid to upper 50s. spring starts on friday. with that the chance of rain. no snow on friday and a high

desk. new court sketches into the newsroom. the white house fence jumper pleading guilty. omar gonzalez made it into the presidential mance back in september. he had a knife in his pocket and made it all the way to the east room before he was stopped. there were af round of ammunition in his car, two hatchets and a machete. this incident was one of several security breaches that led to the resignation of the chief of the secret service. sentencing is set seth in june. there's been a tragic end to a medical helicopter crash from late last night. authorities say the pilot died when the plane crashed in the woods in oklahoma pap nurse and a paramedic were injured, but they're expected to be okay. the plane went down before midnight but search teams didn't find the wreckage until 4:00 in the morning. the faa is headed to the scene to look into how it happened. the manager of arlington county is retiring. barbara donnellan has been the county manager for the past five turbulent years during the streetcar and long branch

some people who live near the jager t in charleston west virginia have evacuated their homes because of a landslide that started sunday at the end of the airport's main runway. it took out power lines a gas line trees, an empty house, a church, d it closed a road. repairs to stop the landslide can't start until the rain stops and right now there's more rain in the forecast for charleston this weekend. a man won more than $1 million in the powerball lottery but can't claim the money. security camera showed the man buying a ticket at a grocery store in southern california. when he didn't come forward to collect the big prize, the california lottery commission

released the video hoping to find him. the man saw himself on the news and came forward yesterday. but he had lost the ticket. unfortunately for him, no ticket means no money. and the prize expired yesterday. the winnings will now go to the state public schools. >> that's just heartbreaking for him. one family is telling an incredible story of survival and quick thinking. a couple crash landed their small plane into the ocean with their 1-year-old daughter on board. this happened in january just off the coast of oahu hawaii. the couple's army training helped them survive? the water but as they waited for help, the real struggle was how to keep their baby above water. >> for a moment i thought it was, like, you know she wasn't there with us no more because all i saw was her little neck like this. but when i shake her, she wakes up. >> wow. it took the coast guard about three hours to rescue the family. >> wow. well it's got more athletes than the olympics and for ten days this summer you'll have a
