the two suspects nearly got away. >> reporter: well chris, we now know the name of the suspect who pretended to be a victim to try and evade police. metro transit police say 23-year-old wade patterson has been charged with the crime of assault with a deadly weapon for a shooting on board the 92 bus this afternoon. the bus was headed to 14th and u streets northwest with a number of passengers on board. but in the 2400 block of good hope road southeast, passengers say it became clear the bus was probably not going much further. >> between this bus stop and the second bus stop there was scuffling going on in the back of the bus. all of a sudden we heard a gunshot. okay? so the commotion started going on. >> reporter: there was pandemonium, everyone rushed to get off the bus. >> she diplomat know she was shot till she got off the bus. >> reporter: in the confusion police thought two men were injured in the melee. they were taken for medical treatment. but investigators knew there was

a very good witness on board that bus. in fact there were five of them. >> the bus is equipped with five cameras. they just looked at that and they've determined the two individuals, the two males who were transported were actually the two involved in the fight. >> reporter: wade patterson was arrested. it's not clear what charges the other man is facing that led to the shoots of an incident bystander. tonight police have not released the name of the other man involved in that fight. back to you. thanks jackie. breaking news in new orleans. shots have been fired at louis armstrong international airport after a person attacked a tsa agent with a machete. this is video of the scene sent to nbc by a passenger. investigators say richard white was in a security line when he pulled out a can of wasp spray and then sprayed several agents. then he pulled out a machete and hit an agent in the arm. police officers chased white into the concourse. they opened fire on him, hitting him three times. >> he has been a taxi driver.

he's recently received a chauffeur's license. has little or no criminal history. some disturbing the peace charges and a couple of traffic attachments. >> again, they hit him three times. police say white right now is unresponsive. several others were hurt in all that ki oschaos. you can get the latest on news 4 today starting at 6:00 in the morning. somebody called the store asking about bombmaking materials. somebody called the store in the town of california maryland and wanted to know if there were supplies there to make bombs. the clerk got nervous, police were called. officers evacuated the store and k-9 units swept the building as a precaution. detectives reviewed the call and deemed it was not a threat. no at 11:00, after months of crash, d.c. street cars got some good news for a change. transit experts reviewed the system and found no fatal flaw along h street and benny road

with the heartfelt smile. >> he's a very nice guy. >> reporter: died when prince george's county police say 22-year-old larry hinson of southeast d.c. crashed a stolen car into charlie's mercedes. hinson was allegedly speeding away from police at the time after i hadding an inghitting an officer during a traffic stop. the sisterofficer is okay. >> mr. hinson through his flagrant disregard for the safety of the public has led us to the place where we've lost a life. >> reporter: after the crash hinson ran from the scene. police caught him around 30 minutes later. tonight officers tell us they stopped hinson because he was driving without headlights. he was on probation for an armed carjacking in prince george's. charlie viverett's wife is too upset to talk about what happened. >> i'm going to keep them in their prayers. >> reporter: tonight hinson is facing first and second degree assault on a police officer, charges along with other traffic-related offenses. i'm shomari stone, news 4.

two women told fairfax county police they were lured to a burke, virginia home by the promise of a job but were drugged and sexually assaulted instead. the women here in the u.s. from mongolia say they for work at ballston common mall in maryland. another mongolian woman approached them and offered them work in a house-cleaning business. they were driven to the house by a man and once inside they were offered wine. both said they soon blacked out and remember very little else. >> this was an ongoing investigation. certainly the lab work will be key into whether or not charges will be placed. >> one of the women says she awakened briefly to find a man sexually assaulting her. when they got home the next morning the other alleged victim found evidence she'd been raped. they went to inova, fairfax hospital where police were called but so far no charges have been filed. a bit of an ebola scare.

a person got sick after they recently got back from west africa. the person went to the uva hospital. they're still there for treatment now. this individual tested negative for ebola, but anyone who may have come into contact with the virus has to be monitored for 21 days. tonight a family friend of walter fauntroy tells news 4 they've asked the state department to help find d.c.'s former delegate to congress. earlier friends said they were concerned about him. he's known to traffic extensively to africa and dubai and have very little contact with anyone back home. but his nephew released a statement, as anyone with an 82-year-old relative we are concerned about his well-being. while we are uncertain about his current whereabout we remain hopeful that he's well and will return soon. a local fbi agent's been indict for stealing and using heroin from the fbi's evidence room. investigators say agent matt lowry would replace it with powdered laxative.

in these photos obtained by "the washington post" this year shows evidence bags that he allegedly falsified. he's charged with 64 counts including obstruction of justice and possession of heroin. his case has led to the charges against at least 26 defendants being dismissed and four defendants in jail are now appealing their convictions. university of virginia students are demanding answers tonight and more transparency following the arrest of third year student martese johnson during a contentious forum with law enforcement leaders today, black student groups repeatedly chanted in unison. eventually they walked out chanting black lives matter. johnson, who attended the forum, did not speak. brian moran who runs the alcoholic beverage control agency says the students were heard and the action of agents is an important one. new tonight, a racist video

and some text messages have cost a few florida police officers their jobs. three ft. lauderdale officers were fired after this movie was reported to the department. it contained offensive images of both racial and homophobic slurs. and the complaint included racist text messages as well. today city officials spoke out against the officers' actions. >> there is zero tolerance for this type of behavior within the ft. lauderdale police department. >> at some point in the future i hope these officers take the necessary and appropriate measures to heal the wounds that could be caused by their conduct. >> a fourth officer resigned during the investigation, but the chief said he would have been fired as well. new details tonight in the fallout over hillary clinton's use over personal e-mail. the committee investigating the terror attack in benghazi has formally requested that clinton's private e-mail server be handed over for review. representative trey gowdy says the intent is to determine which

>> practically the first words out of her mouth were you have osteoporosis. and i was just shocked. >> robert spizano didn't have any of the typical risk factors for osteoporosis but when he broke his arm after a seemingly minor fall it was enough to catch his doctor's attention. >> i just thought, i'm a guy and i'm only 54 years old and i really was resistant to it. >> the call from medstar georgetown university hospital was part of the fractured liaison program which flags patients for osteoporosis screenings when they suffer severe breaks or fractures after low trauma falls. dr. andrea singer is the medical director of the program. >> in general we think of it as a woman's disease but men are not immune to this. >> reporter: dr. singer says being female is the single biggest risk factor for osteoporosis because once women reach menopause their estrogen levels drop off and that can

lead to bone loss. but there were plenty of other risk factors that affect both genders. family history, smoking, alcohol and caffeine intake poor fitness and low calcium and vitamin d levels. yet dr. singer says it's still rare for men to undergo screening. >> and the reason that it's difficult to look at men is in terms of doing some of our standard screening or diagnostic studies, namely bone density with a dexa machine, those studies are generally not well reimbursed by medicare. so it is difficult to get a screening bone density paid for. >> dr. singer says even the national osteoporosis foundation recommends a baseline bone density test for men over the age of 70, but it's typically not covered by health insurance. >> there are fewer people in general getting screen and that presents a problem for a condition that can be perhaps prevented certainly treated. >> robert spezzano underwent the screening and was diagnosed just

a few weeks ago. he's now taking vitamin d supplements and he's made some lifestyle changes includeing doing more walking and resistance training. he hopes it will prevent more broken bones in the future. >> as i get older, az get less steady on my feet i have to really consider whether i want to run that risk. >> there are some cases when health insurance will cover the cost of a bone density screening for men. you should check with your provider before you rule out testing for osteoporosis. spring officials arrived around 6:45 tonight and up and down the east coast the last day of winter certainly lived up to its name. folks from d.c. to boston got snow instead of sunshine. more than 700 flights had to be canceled because of the weather. it could have been worse. this time of the year we've seen accumulating snow. i love that one. spring? what happened there? >> when i was out there with the snow brush this morning on the car, i was hoping that was my last interaction with that thing for a while.

freezing there could be a few slick spots. storm team 4 radar showing things off clear an our big storm came through. a little bit earlier we saw a lot of snow a lot of rain. a lot of snow coming down but not all of it stuck. a lot melted before it started to stick in the area. we saw upwards of 3 to 6 inches northwest as we told you last night. that storm continues to move to the northeast continues to give boston more snow. they set the record for the most snow in the season. might as well just continue to add to it. you've already broken it. just keep on adding. now you've got the cloud cover around the region. but tomorrow we'll see some sunshine. and tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day. really a great saturday. 60 degrees in leesburg 59 degrees martinsburg and cooler along the chesapeake. 62 degrees towards la plateaplata. no real impact from the weather, we'll call it low. a cool start but a very nice afternoon. a great day.
