it feels more like february than march. the storm team is showing scattered flurries in southern maryland. at the end of march we are talking about flurries in the catch of gray. that's into the northern neck. a few flurries. nothing is sticking but they are coming down and heading towards cambridge over the next half hour or so. a mostly cloudy sky and the wind is gusting to around 20 or 25 miles an hour. much of montgomery county in the low to mid 30s near the bay in the mid 30s. shenandoah in the upper 20s. look at oakland. only 10 degrees. layer up. back to you. >> thanks tom. we learned that d.c. police shot a robbery suspect in northeast washington before midnight on clay terrace.

emergency crews rushed the suspect to the police officer. the police officer was not hurt. we are working to learn more. >> amanda knox wakes up a free woman. they ruled there was not enough evidence to support a conviction against her. last year a guilty verdict was handed down to knox and her italian boyfriend in the killing of her british roommate. the saga has come to an end. >> a stunning decision. >> i'm incredibly grateful for what happened for the justice i received for the support that i have had from everyone from my family and my friends to strangers and people like you. you have saved my life and i am so grateful and i am so grateful

it only recently began appearing on the internet. in vulgar ands racist terms, they urge him not to invite african-american and asian people to fraternity parties and urged them to ignore the issue of consent to the women who were invited. maryland's vice president for student affairs said the investigation know itting and due process will be completed before a final determination is made. it goes on to say however by mutual consent between the student involved and the family and the university he will not return this semester. protesters fear that may be the only serious punishment they face. many do not top the return to campus. the kappa sigma house and nearby fraternity row remain a target. >> this is important because

this is a college issue. this is happening nationwide. women are being assault and raped on college campuses. >> it causes you to want to act. any form of discrimination or hate is unacceptable. >> jackie knocked on the house, but no one answered. the president did make an apology at a campus-wide forum. >> protesters made their feelings known outside a bill cosby performance. this is what it looked like last night. the protesters were members of an advocacy group who don't want a serial rapist in their city. they claimed cosby assaulted him. supporters say he is innocent until they learn otherwise. >> everybody has an opinion, but how can you convict or be this dead against something that you don't know what's happened.

>> a local daycare owner is denying accusations that she shook a baby. the accusations suggest the girl was shaken so hard she had pleading on the brain. she is charged with first and second-degree child abuse. she runs the my angel daycare and the nine-month-old showed signs of severe shaken baby syndrome. the attorney released a statement saying we strongly deny the allegations contained in the statement of changes and look forward to reviewing the actual evidence in the case. >> families of police officers killed in the line of duty will come together today. a fallen officers memorial will be dedicated in a special ceremony ceremony. we met with the relatives of those being honor and share the stories of sacrifice.

>> the finishing touches being put on a memorial to 18 officers killed while protecting the city of al zand ri a. they go back to 1823 when officers were called constables. 1989 is the year that changed jenny's life. it was the year her husband was shot and killed on a special operations team. >> when charlie died, i promised him he would never be forgotten. this memorial will make all of them never forgotten that. was important to me. >> jenny dedicated the last year to get the memorial built. she showed us the history of the police department and the officers they lost. >> this represents an officer and it's a little bit about the officer. >> another strong supporter, her dad conrad was a youth detective and killed responding to a bank

explosion in the east. the blast ripped through three apartment buildings. at least 25 people were hurt and four remain in critical condition. they came to the rescue of those inside the building. >> i was trying to explain to them they got the legs and let it go. >> a gas line is suspected of sparking the explosion that. is still under investigation. >> a german hospital treated cot pilot that deliberately crashed that person jet into the french alps. he was a patient there over the last two months but they won't say why. during a 7 of his apartment they found sick leave certificates and a doctor gave him those notes to be off work including the day of the plane crash that killed 150 people. >> multiple counties in maryland

off to a good start. they have docked at the international space station. this mission will be the first ever attempt for a year long stay at station. the purpose of this is to better understand how the human body reacts and adapts to space. scott kelly and a russian cosmonaut are on the mission. kelly's twin brother mark will take part in a study from earth. his body will be a base line. >> on virginia's eastern shore has been postponed for a second time. that was scrubbed because of bad weather and again this morning. it is not known what caused the delay. the rocket will take experiments from colleges including virginia tech. it started and we are keeping a close eye on that potential launch. >> starting today, american airlines will absorb us airways frequent flyer could erer accounts.

>> this physical therapist said patients have jobs that require physical strength like construction worker firefighters plumbers and electricians so the therapies are kouft omcustomized. >> they have to dig for a certain amount of time and they have to pull fire and things like that. >> they said patients spend eight hours a week -- day. >> they show they are much more likely to reinjury themselves. they don't have the endurance or stamina to go back to their job. >> the physical work was hard. i started at about 25 pounds and we raised that and i had to get up to 50 pounds. >> they spent five weeks at industrial health. she did exercises that simulated

working on the bus. lifting planks similar to the hood and maneuvering objects to practice picking up children. she was cleared to go back to work in january after being out for a year. >> a long recovery process. longer than i expected. it was wonderful to get back to work. >> a landslide in seattle is forcing people out. three homes were evacuated and nobody hurt. no property damage but concern because the soil out there is still shifting. there had been a few small slights slides in the past, but nothing to this scale. >> i love how despite the freezing temperatures you are focusing on the positive. >> yes, i'm looking at the calendar. >> time is on our side but march is a mead month.
