chopper 4 is over the breaking news right now outside the entrance of the nsa at fort meade. pictures here police on the scene of a shooting outside that entrance. we just learned that a guard exchanged gunfire with two men disguised as women trying to get into that facility. once chopper 4 was able to get over the scene we saw two people being put into a ambulance. >> following this closely ever since we sent you a breaking news alert through nbc washington's app. this is all happening outside the conduit road entrance to the

nsa. molette green is there live. >> reporter: the associated press just reporting that one person has died in what it is describing as a gate crashing incident. this at the fort meade facility. at the gate of the nsa this morning. all of this happening during a confrontation between a guard and two men. two men, we understand who were dressed as women attempting to enter the facility. you're looking at live pictures right now of chopper 4 over the scene. all of this led to an exchange of gunfire. again, both of the men, the suspects involved were shot. we also have video of a uniformed man being loaded into an ambulance from the scene. we don't have any condition on the injured but, again, associated press reporting that one person has died in this incident. again, nbc news has been able to confirm what happened here.

the investigation into the suspect's vehicle found that there were drugs and a gun inside the car. the car being a ford escape. we've also learned that the car was stolen. registered in maryland. and we have been hearing from officials here on the scene, nsa taking the lead. the fbi also here on the scene, that they are at this point calling this a local criminal matter but we do not know what these two men were up to, why they were trying to enter the facility but we are staying on top of this developing story. our derrick ward my lso here on the scene and in just a few minutes he will talk about the multiple police investigations involved in what has been a shooting here this morning at the nsa fort meade facility. one person is dead. i'm molette green, live.

back to you. >> we will have frequent updates on this breaking news throughout our hour. also keep an eye on nbc washington's twitter for any new information that comes in. and right now investigators are trying to figure out what caused an atv accident that kill add man and seriously hurt a woman in prince george's county. the crash happened just before 3:00 a.m. this morning on a trail off racetrack road in bowie. we were there as a crew towed the atv away. the man died at the scene, the woman taken to the hospital with serious head injuries. the victim's name has not been released. i'm angie goff at the live desk. this just in. the man who low rohhingly exposes knowingly exposed two women to hiv was sentenced to 18 months behind bars. found guilty for not letting his sex partners know has he had suv. that's the latest.

laws refusing businesses to allow service religious belief. in the op-ed cook says these bills rationalize injustice pretending to go against something we hold dear. they have the potential to undo decades of progress towards greater equality. indiana's governor defending the law saying it's about religious freedom. social media is to blame for the confusion surrounding the legislation saying there is room to clarify the wording but are not repeal the law. >> i'm open to that but we're not going to change this law. then state senator barack obama voted for it when he was in the state senate of illinois. indiana is not alone when it comes to religious protection. it actually is the 20th state to pass similar legislation. jamie foxx is being called transphobic after jokes he made about bruce jenner at the iheart

right noi, investigators trying to find out more about a copilot who intensely crashed a plane in the french alps. andreas lubitz was treated years ago for suicidal tendencies before becoming a pilot. he trained at a facility in phoenix, arizona, and in germany. prosecutors still don't have a motive for the crash and have not interviewed loop its' family but interviewed his girlfriend. reporting a timeline of the flight's final moments based on the cockpit voice recorders recovered. the captain heard telling lubitz he did not have a chance to use the bathroom. lubitz tells the captain he can take over at any time. the captain leaves the cockpit. the door clicks shut plane descends. captain bangs on the door for god's sake open the door. passengers scream in the background. nbc news is not confirmed this account. right now negotiators have less than 48 hours to agree on a framework for the nuclear deal with iran.

just the last hour the white house is downplaying reports that iran will no longer agree to ship atomic fuel out of the country. a spokesman for the white house is saying that that's not accurate to say that iran is backtracking on the shipments. state, secretary of state john kerry and his iranian counterpart have been meeting in switzerland since thursday. they say the president is receiving regular briefings on this whole thing. new claims from iran that a u.s. drone strike has killed two of its country's advisers. this is in the country of iraq. the u.s. saying it only targeted islamic state militants in an attempt to help iraqi forces take back that city of tikrit. the accusation comes a day before the u.s. tries to strike a nuclear deal with iran. no word whether that's going to impact the talks. aaron? right now several cities could see more record-breaking heat. phoenix hit 97 degrees

not jut breezy today, tomorrow as well. more on that in less than ten minutes. >> thank you, amelia. an important new warning for parents today. stop using your kitchen spoons to measure your child's medicine. new guidelines from the american academy of pediatrics say parents need to use metric measures. the kitchen teaspoons and tablespoons vary too much in size to be safe and if you accidentally use a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon you triple the dose your child will be taking. you should also use metric to record your child's weight and temperature making it easier to calculate the exact dosage your child needs. another important element doctors tell us is that doctors actually and manufacturers need to stop using terms, teaspoon and tablespoon altogether. a tiny mistake with your child's medicine can have a huge consequence. more than 70,000 kids go to the emergency room every year due to unintentional overdoses. the new guidelines are the most extensive call for metric dosing

i'm derrick ward outside the nsa facility where there has been a shooting this morning. it happened sometime around 9:30. we're told that two men disguised at women tried to enter this facility. they were confronted by security officers here and there was an exchange of gunfire that ensued. we are told that two people were shot. one has since died. there was a third person who was injured. we are assuming that was an nsa security officer. look at some of our footage from chopper 4 earlier this morning. right about the time that this all happened. we could see one person with what appeared to be an injury to his arm. looked like an nsa security officer who was taken away by ambulance. now, what we are told is that they did recover a gun, and some drugs from the car that those two men who are dressed as were dressed reportedly as women can in. we don't know exactly what kind of drugs, what kind of gun.

now, there have been reports that local police are handling this. there are, of course federal authorities on-scene because of the type of secure facility this is here around the fort meade area. but this investigation may very well be handed over to local authorities. now, sources with news 4, and our investigative team have told us that there is or are, local facilities on the secure facility. that is some sort of local police where folks will be put up in a secure facility. that might explain why the federal authorities could be handling this investigation. we'll bring more as it becomes available. live outside the nsa. news 4, back to you. we have new details now on that deadly van crash in florida that happened earlier this morning. we now know a 4-year-old was onboard when that van ran a stop sign and crashed into a canal. looking at video from the scene afterwards. eight people died. ten others including the child are being treat ford injuries

right now. the van we've learned was on the way home after a weekend church convention. this happened about 80 miles west of the city of palm beach. angie goff at livedesk. barbara, back to you. >> thanks angie. friends and family members are remembering ryan mccall who grew up in spotsylvania county and died in a plane crash over the weekend. live where ryan went to high school talking to people who knew him. >> reporter: yes, good morning, barbara. this is a tragic story. a lot of kids inside of that school behind me rhealeeling after the loss of one of their friends. 16-year-old ryan mccall, a man with a lot of potential. learning how deeply embedded in the school community he was. one of three brothers that went to school here. the middle child. a little difficult to gain access to classmates here. social media is flooded with love and support for his family but i was able to catch up with a parent of one of his friends not far away from here.

>> it's pretty sad. it's just -- you know, at a time the students have to deal with saying good-bye to somebody that that you know they knew at school and knowing that they're not going to see them anymore, it hits those kids really hard. >> reporter: as students arrived this morning to river bend high anything but a typical monday. 16-year-old ryan mccall a sophomore, killed in a plane crash. mary lyon that children who attend the tight-knit school. >> my son knew the boy. i don't know how well, but he was a little shaken up by it. didn't get much sleep last night so stayed home today. >> reporter: mccall was pronounced dead at the scene which the 1974 piper single eng's fixed wing plane he was flying crashed not far from the orange county airport about 9:45 sunday morning. the school sent out a letter to parents yesterday and done their best to create an environment conducive to healing. with the spotsylvania school district. >> a counselor is at the school

traditionally but brought in additional counselors just to help support the staff and the students. >> reporter: friends have flooded social media with the #ripryanmccall. a young man with promise. a young man who will be missed. flying at 16 not all that unique around here according to mary. >> yeah. i know quite a few families that their children fly. there's a lot of pilots that live out in this area, and a lot of them taught their kids to do fly. >> reporter: the family describe him as being focuses. describe him as somebody who is very determined. took a lot of classes over at the career and technical center. now, exactly what happened to that plane and why it went down is still under investigation. reporting live here in fredericksburg zachary kiesch news 4. later today family and friends gather to remember the victims of the south capital street mass shooting in the district. it's been five years since that deadly shooting. the community will gather at 6:30 tonight at the faith presbyterian church on south

capital street in southwest. a prayer service and vigil. back in 2010 three people were killed. six others hurt. police say it was part of a series of revenge attacks that all started over stolen jewelry. five men were convicted in that case. aaron, today we're learning personal private information from president obama along with several other world leaders, accidentally leaked. the guardian is reporting the australian immigration department sent off the president's passport and visa details to organizers of a soccer tournament. political leaders from england, germany and russia all had their information leaked as well. the "guardian" says it happened during the g20 summit in australia last year and says australian leaders did not tell their peers about this breach. and for this week looking at springlike temperatures but showers in the forecast for tomorrow. show you the timing. here 6:00 a.m. see dry with mainly clear skies across the area. working into the afternoon hours, a little more cloud cover and the threat of showers arrives as early as 2:00 tomorrow afternoon.

right now prosecutors are wrapping up their case in the boston bombing trial. once the prosecution rests, dzhokhar tsarnaev will begin the defense. their strategy designed to spare him the death penalty. attorneys argue the older brother tamerlan was the mast per mind and dzhokhar was following his lead. tamerlan was killed in a shoot-out with police. jetblue says a system-wide computer outage is causing problems for thousands of passengers this morning. the outage forced the airline to manually check in passengers at reagan national airport. the jetblue didn't release details what caused that outage. it did issue a statement saying the problem has been fixed, but you should expect delays throughout the day. and we're back with an update on breaking news outside fort meade. two men disguised at women lead

this investigation along with nsa police and other law enforcement and at this point investigators do not believe this was terrorism-related, and we are hearing now that the scene is contained. now, chopper 4 has been over the scene giving us an aerial view of the facility where one person has died in this gate crashing and shooting that happened at nsa's fort meade facility just off i-295 in anne arundel county. all happening this morning after an exchange of gunfire between a guard and two mendressed as women. and driving a stolen vehicle. a ford escape. both of the suspects were shot in this incident. chopper 4 also was able to capture video of a man in uniform being loaded into an ambulance. now, a search of the stolen car found a gun and drugs inside but no details on exactly what type of weapon or the drugs

inside that stolen vehicle. with registered maryland tags. it is not clear, though at this point why these two attempted to get inside the facility but, again, investigators at this point believe this is not terrorism-related, or that the nsa or fort meade was a target at this point in the investigation. this is being called a local criminal matter. live on the scene here in laurel molette green. back to you. >> molette, thank you. right now president obama, vice president joe biden, honoring another politician. a live look at the dedication ceremony of the edward m. kennedy institute for the united states senate in dorchester massachusetts. you see there senator john mccain speaking about someone he was in the senate with and someone he considered a friend. this facility includes a full-size replica of the chamber where the late massachusetts democratic senator served for 47 years. kennedy endorsed president obama at a key point during the 2008

suicidal tendencies before he became a pilot. lubitz trained as a facility in phoenix, arizona, and in germany. investigators still do not have a motive for his intentionally crashing the plane killing all 150 people onboard. a german paper reports a timeline of the flight's last minutes from the cockpit voice recorder. during the ascent the captain tells lubitz he didn't have a chance to use the rest room. lubitz tells the captain he can take over anytime. the captain asks lubitz to landing and a few minutes later, lubitz says you can go now. the paper says lubitz can be heard pushing his chair back. the door clicks shut. the plane descends air traffic control calls. no answer. the captain bangs on the door yelling for god's sake open the door. passengers scream in the background. nbc news has not confirmed this account. a grieving father says the motive doesn't matter. r. >> there was a motive or a reason we do not want to hear it. it's not relevant.

i'm derrick ward outside the nsa facility at fort nied ann aruntal county where earlier this morning there was a shooting. two injured, we understand one is dead and also an nsa security officer may have been injured's what we know. sometime around 9:30 two men apparently dressed at women tried to enter the facility. an exchange of gunfire between those men and nsa security officers. one person was killed. we don't know -- we do believe actually it was one of the suspects and also understand an nsa security officer might have suffered a minor injury. now, the fbi baltimore field office has taken over this investigation. they will be working with nsa authorities. at this point they say the threat is contained. they do not believe that this is related to terrorism. however, they are still investigating all of the angles here until this is sorted out,

and they are also going to be consulting with the u.s. attorney's office here in maryland to see if federal charges are warranted. authorities say they recovered a gun and drugs from that vehicle. more details on this as it becomes available. hopefully a briefing from nsa fast officials later today. live in laurel. back to you. >> derrick ward thank. right now the ifa, ntsb and virginia police investigateing a plane crash that killed a spotsylvania teenager. ryan mccall piloting a plane on his own when the plane crashed. he was 16 years old. we talked to a licensed pilot to find out what the rules are for teenagers flying planes. he says it is allowed according to the pilot, no faa rule for how many hours of instruction you need before flying on your own. you can spend as few as ten hours in the air, you do have to be at least 16 however with a valid medical certificate from the faa and a flight instruct hear to endorse or sign off on a
