part quote, i know there is no way to erase this incident or the agony it's caused but i want you to know that i will strive to never use such language again. the university of virginia's campus newspaper is apologizing this morning for its april fools' frank. the cavalier daily published a story with the headline a.b.c. agents tackle native american student. the headline was a reference to this recent arrest of a uva student outside a bar. martese johnston was left bloodied after the arrest which led to protests. the news paper apologized reading it was meant to start a conversation and provide satirical commentary on important issues. the april fools' edition is not meant to come at the expense of our peers. today ryan mccall's people is holding his funeral service. he's the spotsylvania county who died in a plane crash this weekend. he was flying the plane he was 16 years old.

university. police have hunkered down engaging in a fierce shoot-out at the time. reports say gunmen fired indiscriminately in campus buildings killing two and wounding at least 29 others sending terrified students running. that part of kenya has seen attacks come from al shabaab. back to you. it is now 4:33. today real estate heir and suspected killer robert durst is expected back in court this morning. today's preliminary hearing is on gun and drug charges. durst was the subject of hbo's the jinx oig and he was arrested last month in new orleans on a warrant issued by l.a. police. authorities want him extradited to california in connection with the execution-style murder of a friend 15 years ago. it's being called one of the biggest drug busts in loudoun county history and this morning, police say they're not done making arrests.

narcotics detectives nabbed two alleged dealers tuesday at a sterling hotel. they say that the suspects were so desperate, he tried to escape from jumping through a third floor window. dogs helped track him down in the woods. officers found 2 1/2 pounds of cocaine, a kilo of crack cocaine, heroin six pounds of marijuana, ecstasy and prescription pills. they also recovered $60,000 in cash. >> it's a credit to our investigators and the hard work over a period of several months to pull this all together and make such a good case an hit a high level of the organization. >> luis garcia and ronald of new york were arrested both charged with possession and intent to sell the drugs. today students at american university are asking the school to make sexual assault prevention part of the curriculum. today's protests will be at 1:00 on campus. the group american university students against sexual violence

says the school isn't doing enough to protect students. american university says the student group has refused to participate in campus efforts to address sex assault. a group of women is suing a howard county businessman for allegedly putting cameras inside a bathroom. this isn't the first lawsuit against kyle muellerhauser. the baltimore sun says the latest lawsuit is wrt $20 million. he's charged with putting a hid willen dam are a inside the rams head tavern women's restroom. he was arrested in february. another woman filed a $3 million lawsuit in march. the postal service says it's making changes to keep a section of montgomery county safe. last year a woman was hit while crossing the street to get her mail. she died. and now everyone on frederick road will have to move their mail boxes to the side of the street they live on. mail carriers will also change their routes in response. a senator defiant and now

raise the minimum age from 18 to 21. mcduffy says research shows introducing people to tobacco later in life can save lives. new york city passed a similar bill last year. they also introduced a bill to sban ban the sale of powdered alcohol. and there is serious concerns with voting equipment. technical problems such as issues with the touch screens led to an investigation into the machines. they say the wireless capability makes it vulnerable to local and remote cyber attacks. the machines are used in about 20% of the voting precincts in virginia including spotsylvania county. the board openhopes to find a solution by june's primaries. just one year after the second deadly attack at ft. hood police arrest someone for threatening even more violence. how police found out about the threat. a courthouse confrontation. who got into a

threat yesterday, he was quickly taken in. on april 2 last year three people were killed by an army specialist who opened fire and then shot and killed himself. brand new water restrictions in california where the governor is now requiring a 25% reduction in use. the severe drought there is in its fourth year now and this could have an impact on you, too. because the new restrictions could limit california farmers crops. farmers there grow about half of all the produce eaten in this country every year. really just a fraction of what they should be at in terms of the water table right now. so they're in dire straits for sure. and speaking of rain, we're wondering if we'll get any here in our area. >> 4:41 is your time. weather and traffic on the 1s. what do you say, tom? >> we have a dry sky here. by the way in the california sierra they have only had 6% of the average snowfall this year. well, here bright and sunny morning, a chill in the air.
