now. the search is on for a man police say murdered his wife in a maryland dunkin' donuts. take a look at this picture right here. it's of 24-year-old bhadreshkumar chetanbhai patel. he is from hanover. anne arundel county police say witnesses told them patel struck his wife multiple times with an object before fleeing the dunkin' donuts. it's a shop that both of them apparently worked at. patel is now wanted on several charges, including first degree murder. if you know anything or have seen him, please call police. we've got breaking news. florida senator marco rubio says he is running for president. the associated press says the republican just told his top donors during a conference call ahead of a political rally tonight in miami. rubio says he's "uniquely qualified to talk about the future." he tweeted a teaser last night with a game of thrones theme, "big news is coming." he'll in a republican summit

in new hampshire. nearly every single contender for the republican nomination will be there, jeb bush rand paul chris christie mike huckabee carly fiorina. the list goes on and on. >> i'm tracy potts at the u.s. capitol. we are tracking decision 2016 and hillary clinton who, as of now, is the latest candidate to declare. she is in a van on her way to iowa, the first caucus state, where her campaign has said they're going to go small. the idea here is not to show her on stages doing big speeches rallies. they want to show her connecting with people because that's how iowa votes. that's how the caucuses work. and so we're going to see her at a community college tomorrow. on wednesday at a small business in small, intimate settings with voters. she's already been tweeting some of that along the road to iowa. on the other side her republican opponents are already out with ads and videos against her. >> we must do better than the

obama/clinton foreign policy that has damaged relationships with our allies and emboldened our enemies. >> i think the thing is about the clintons is that there's a certain sense that they're above the law. >> hillary clinton represents the failed policies of the past. >> reporter: lots of things will come up in this campaign benghazi the clinton e-mails. but in terms of iowa hillary clinton, her national numbers look good but she's trailing rand paul by one percentage point. it's already a close race in that very important state. that's the latest from here i'm tracie potts. >> stay with us later in the hour. we'll talk about why rubio's and hillary's announcements make a tough week for jeb bush. it was a terrible accident. back in 2009, a metro train slammed into another train stopped on the tracks near the fort totten station. nine people were killed and many more were injured.

after that accident, metro stopped using their automated system and began to control their trains manually. since the accident a number of things have been done a number of safety improvements have been made and metro is now at the point where they can return to that automated system and they did that this morning. a computer will now control the trains speed them up slow them down and stop them. this is only happening on the red line with the longer eight-car trains and they began this morning. six-car trains the still need a software upgrade and they'll be put on the automated system at a later date. metro says going back to the automated system is more efficient and makes for faster rides, smoother erer rides. you might not see the grab byness or jerkiness under the manual system. it got under way this morning, the lines on the automated system by some point in 2017. from the grosvenor station,

pictures of the scene, one person died on the campus of the wayne county community college in the town of goldsboro, about an hour southeast of raleigh. the shooter still on the loose but no indication where they are on our off campus. a developing story on a maryland couple who had been criticized for their parenting style. montgomery county police brought that couple's children to child protective services yesterday. they picked them up in silver spring after someone told officers the children were alone. the meitiv family has a so-called free range style of parenting. seep yes, sir began investigating in december after the ten-year-old and five-year-old were found walking home alone from a playground. we spoke to the mother a few moments ago. we'll tell you why the mother says she's considering legal action. chuck? temperatures have responded nicely to the sunshine that's broken out after a cloudy start.

afternoon. let the comparisons begin. just a few headlines on the internet on the golf channel. spieth of '15 eerily similar to woods of '97. and yahoo, comparing jordan spieth's 2015 masters to tiger's 1997 performance. if you don't know who jordan spieth is you do now. he not only won the masters, he dismantled the course and his masterful performance has many comparing him to the tiger woods of 20 years ago. how about that? look at the numbers now. spieth's final score was 18 under par, tying wood's 1997 tournament record. he's just 21 years old, the second-youngest master's champion behind woods in that '97 win. even woods himself made comparisons. he said spieth managed to build a huge lead early, something he didn't even do in '97. he is going to be huge.

a new video of a white sheriff's deputy in oklahoma killing a black man. you may want to look away or mute your tv now. you can't see what happens, but you can hear the gunshot. >> on your stomach. >> stop fighting. >> now! [ gunshot ] >> the tulsa county sheriff's office says this was a mistake and that the reserve deputy meant to grab his taser instead of his gun. the deputy was part of a sting operation trying to stop illegal gun sales. the sheriff's office says the deputy did not commit a crime but was in a "stressful situation." today we'll be watching nasa's twitter feed as a genuine

espresso machine heads skyward to the international space sags. i one of the astronauts is italian and doesn't care for the instant coffee. the spacex rocket carrying thousands of pounds of supplies is scheduled to launch this afternoon. once the rocket gets high enough spacex will basically try to catch its booster equipment on a barge in the atlantic so it can be used again. sea astronauts have their priorities checked, they need the espresso machine. >> the funny thing is, you pay by the pound to get something into space so a couple of pounds of ans espresso machine, what does it cost? that's an expensive cup of espresso. we are swimming in sunshine for now but we have rain drops coming our way and soon everybody. it will be raining by this time for tomorrow sure. in fact it will be raining even earlier than that. here's future weather starting 59 o'clock a.m. tomorrow morning, cloudy skies but rain showers moving in. here we are at 8:00 in the

morning. light rain in the metro by 11:00 a.m. could see pockets of heavy rain by about 11:00 and 2:00 tomorrow afternoon and moderate rain showers mid to late afternoon and things tapering off after about 8:00 or 9:00 tomorrow evening, up to about 10:00 or 11:00 when things improve a bit. your tuesday planner will be a wet one. showers in the morning and heavy rain through the lunch hours for sure. temperatures in the 60s. >> thank you, chuck. a new report is out grading the airlines you use. if you think there's room for improvement, the numbers agree. apparently they're going to wrong way across the board compared to the year before. for example, there were 11,364 complaints in this report for the year of 2014. that's more than 1,600 more than the year before. now, flight delays were an issue as well with airlines including southwest, united, and delta all keeping you waiting more often than the year before. and apparently more bags were lost this year radziwill, and

mishandled. in 2014 nearly four for every 1,000 passengers all year. now, the report also ranks some of the airlines that were most popular. here is a ranking of the most popular airlines. apparently virgin america gets high marks. it came in number one. hawaiian airlines came in number two and delta airline came in third place this year. now, that says that mergers and more and more charges for things like checked bags and leg room are causing some frustration for passengers and that it may not improve any time soon. time is running out to take in the cherry blossoms and all their gorgeous glory. we posted some pictures from our visits to the tidal basin and the photos you shared with us. after the break, what we're seeing out there today. stay with us.

from the live desk, a developing story out of lusby, maryland. two children are in the hospital after they cashed a car into a tree. the names are being withheld details are limited but this is what we know. it happened this morning. you're looking at some aerial coverage from chopper 4 here of the scene and what was left in the 700 block of cougar court. this is when a neighbor of the two eight-year-olds started their vehicle to warm it up they say the kids who were waiting for a school bus saw it decided to jump in and take it for a ride. well, shortly after putting the

car into gear it went downhill and crashed here into that tree. a lot of damage to the front end of that vehicle. as for two eight-year-olds, they both were hurt. i mentioned they're both in the hospital. we know that one of the children broke their leg. at this point, police don't think that there was criminal intent. that's the latest from the live desk eun, back to you. >> thank you, angie. if you haven't seen the cherry blossoms yet, head down to the national mall this afternoon. the blossoms hit peak bloom on april 11 two days ago. that means from now on little petals will be floating away. molette green is live at the tidal basin now. molette molette, it looks likes it's beautiful and quite busy too. >> reporter: peak bloom and almost peak capacity down here. these ladies behind me have the blossoms in their outfits. people have come by the bus loads from near and far. they say this is the place to

tonight. that's when clouds roll in and rain rolls in. rain could be heavy at times from mid to late morning to mid to late afternoon. next we'll give you the first check of the seven-day forecast barbara. >> thank you, chuck. we're working to find out when a woman arrested to montgomery county will be extradited to philadelphia. police tracked down nya parlor to silver spring after her quadriplegic son was abandoned in a philadelphia park. police say after she left her son in the park she came to silver spring to visit her boyfriend. the man was found lying in the leaves covered with a blanket next to a wheelchair and bible. parlor's boyfriend turned her into police. >> the boyfriend had no knowledge what happened. he was under the impression she needed a break and came down there. it as a very disturbing case. >> reporter: parlor was hospitalized after being arrested. she was in the hospital to receive treatment for an unknown reason. she's facing several charges, including kidnapping and

assault. maryland lawmakers have until midnight to pass a budget. governor larry hogan proposed a budget compromise on saturday but it's unclear whether the legislature is willing and able to pass some of the initiatives that the governor says are important. the house of delegates is scheduled to vote on three of those measures. they include expanding charter schools, ending state-mandated storm water fees and providing tax relief on military pensions. we'll continue to monitor the situation throughout the day. if a budget is passed we'll send you a push alert to your phone. a story capturing a lot of attention this morning. a mom to be who is 65 years old and already has 13 kids. wow. a look at why her age is not the

this story has a lot of you talking on if this morning. a 65-year-old german woman is pregnant with quadruplets. that's four babies. this won't be her first trip to the delivery room either.

this mother already has 13 kids. take a look at this growing family. you can see her growing belly there. her children range in age from 44 to 10 years old. the mom was pregnant 10 years ago. the elementary schoolteacher says this time she sought fertility treatments to get pregnant. despite her age, doctors say the pregnancy is proceeding without any major complications. she's expected to deliver some time this summer. so far gwenyth paltrow has yet to address a controversy surrounding the new york city food bank challenge. that's when you shop and eat like someone on food stamps for one week. the oscar winner tweeted this picture of eggs brown rice fresh herbs, a total of $29 worth of food. critics say her options are not realistic and wouldn't even last seven days. advocates say paltrow is showing the tough choices families face on food stamps everyday. do yic foods or foods rich in nutrients? and that's tough. gwenyth ultimately can go home and have the option to choose whatever she wants to eat, but

until 90 seconds in. it's about what other people are looking for in the future and hillary clinton's tag line is "i'm in this for you." >> we had another announcement today. will that hurt jeb bush? >> well jeb bush was a mentor to marco rubio when he was speaker of the house in florida. they both impeel to the same set of voters marco rubio says "i'm a vision of the future." he would be the first latino to be president. but jeb bush has baggage on his last name. a few weeks ago we had a couple candidates who were talking about running, now people are jumping in. hillary clinton says though that the meaning of her campaign will be a slow rampup. she won't give a big speech about why she's running for president until may. >> you'll be busy. >> very busy. >> and we'll be watching thanks so much. lawmakers are back at work today and they have a lot to do.

to the metro area that could interfere with the morning and evening commute. just know tomorrow won't be quite as pretty as today. >> we'll enjoy today while we can. thank you, chuck. a developing story now. megan mcgrath has just spoken to a maryland family who are once again caught in a firestorm over their so-called free range parenting. montgomery county police brought the couple's children to child protective services yesterday. now the family tells us they're fighting back. >> i thought i was going to be taken away from my parents. >> reporter: 10-year-old raffi meitiv recounts his greatest fear after he and his six-year-old sister were picked up by police as they walked home alone from the silver spring park sunday evening. they were eventually taken to child protective raffi says he waited hours to see his parents. >> they kept saying "you can see them in a little bit. you can see them in a little bit." finally 10:30, 10:45 finally i can see them. >> reporter: a scary experience for a ten-year-old but not the

family's first encounter with police and the child protective services. the meitivs made headlines last december for what's being called their free-range parenting philosophy which they say teaches responsibility and self-reliance. ten-year-old raffi and his six-year-old sister devora are allowed to walk to area parks by themselves. someone called police last year and the same thing happened last night. danielle mative the say they had to sign a paper to supervise their children at all times to get their children back. they say they feel targeted and are considering legal action. >> they're healthy, well behaved, well fed, well-dressed articulate intelligence. there's nothing in that list that suggests neglect. >> reporter: but child protective services says the may tvs are not being targeted. they say police are required to

gas prices are going back down. analyst trilby lundberg says prices have fallen about five cents a gallon in the last three weeks. the national average is now $2.39 a gallon according to aaa. in our area the average is $2.20, $2.38 in maryland and $2.39 in west virginia. $2.55 is the price per gallon on average in d.c. lundberg says refiners are dropping prices in response to demand from american drivers. looks like a lot of your friends are interested in the

we're getting a closer look at how a brazen group of thieves made off of tens of millions of dollars in jewels. kelly koeb yay ya has the report. >> reporter: just four minutes after hatton's safe deposit closed for the long weekend burglars were at the side view. this morning police released nine pictures of the camera of the men pulling off an audacious good friday heist. the gang dropped down an

elevator shaft from the second floor basement pried open the shutter doors, drilled through nearly seven feet of reinforced concrete and raided the vault. >> the scene still remains chaotic down there. the floor is strewn with discarted safety deposit boxes and numerous power tools. >> reporter: when the vault opened in 1949 it was built as bomb and burglar-proof. >> nearly a thousand individual saves are contained within this mass of steel and reinforced concrete. >> reporter: and protected by an alarm. it went off three hours into the heist. a security guard reportedly checked the front door and found nothing, while a diamond core drill like this was cutting concrete under his feet. what's even more remarkable is that the thieves came and went through this side door for nearly 12 hours and no one noticed. they came back for a second all-nighter, leaving with their loot early easter morning. police say the gang cleaned out
