n is moving into our western suburbs coming in from the west and a little bit from the southwest. right now getting rain from right along 95. fredericksburg right into washington pavement just now getting to wet. pavement along to 66 is wet now. and the pavement is wet on 270 from gaithersburg up to frederick and on interstate 70 from baltimore over toward howard county and 81 is all wet this morning and 340 as well as the light rain is continuing to move in from the west and we'll be continuing to move into our eastern suburbs in about another hour or so. there are those thickening clouds. a live view from our tower camera. a damp morning. rainy afternoon, we could have moderate to heavy downpours in the afternoon. we have rain chances over the next seven days as well. a mild start. we're in the 60s. it will be dropping as we get into the rest of the afternoon down into the 50s. next weather and traffic on the ones. how is the commute now?

in d.c. a family is planning to file a suit against gun violence today. this 9-year-old was shot in the head at an apartment complex in northeast d.c. there was a fight nearby where someone used the gun. jayden's family is suing the complex. we're hearing the 911 call that put a maryland couple in trouble again for their free range parenting style. there is a new investigation against the meitivs after their two children were unaccompanied. >> they have been walking around about 20 minutes by them receive. >> the couple has already been found responsible for unsubstantiated child neglect after their children were found walking alone last december. the couple says they are

considering fighting back with a lawsuit. at the live desk with new video that captures a man being set on fire after a bar fight in florida. we are about to show you the disturbing video now. right now, police are looking for the man who poured gasoline on a bar bouncer right on his face and lit a match. the bar security camera recorded it all when the two got into it over an unpaid tab. the bouncer is expected to recover from his burns. that is the latest. back to you. we are going to get a much closer look at hillary clinton's campaign strategy today when she meets with community college students in iowa. we're also learning more about her fundraising plans. for now, she's going to skip out on those star studded high dollar private events. she's asking for small donations on line. experts say she may eventually top the $1 billion president obama raised in 2012.

in a direct challenge to the president, the senate is expected to vote on a bill today for more influence in the nuclear deal with iran. secretary of state john kerry went to the hill on person to plead for more time. 2016 candidates rand paul and marco rubio on are that committee. the agreement comes amid a spike in violence between russian separatists and ukrainian. you can now officially cast your ballot to fill two seats on the d.c. council. early voting is under way for the april 28th special election. there is a crowded field to fill the late marion barry's ward seat. doors will be closed on thursday for emancipation day.

a new look at the devastating damage from a tornado in illinois. it hit a town in the northwest suburbs of chicago last week. two people died. you can see homes were destroyed, trees and trash scattered everywhere. just look at that devastation. the town is still without power, but it could come back tomorrow. a big piece of construction equipment is ready to go in d.c. we are going to get our first look at d.c. waters new tunnel boring machine today. this is in the bloomingdale neighborhood. it will mine the first street tunnel which will help alleviate flooding in that area. the machine will bore a massive

thanks adam. and this morning, police are looking for a man they say kill his wife in a dunkin'donuts in anne arundel coin. we send you a breaking news alert on the washington news app yesterday. according to police bhadreshkumar chetanbhai patel beat his wife to death in the kitchen area in the dunkin'donuts in hanover. she was 21 years old. a woman is facing manslaughter charges this morning after a passenger in her suv died during a crash. police say 21-year-old jessica agley was driving under the influence, ran a stop sign and crashed into a house yesterday on myers drive in stafford. the passenger, brian couric was ejected from the vehicle and died. police say he was not wearing a seat belt. no one in the house was injured. this video right here has gone viral and a man beaten by deputies in a southern california desert is speaking

the existing bridge last night when part of it fell on to their car. in news for your health this morning, there's a simple new test that can identify whether you are at high risk of cancer. all you have to do is breathe into a tube. researchers at the israel institute of technology say they then check the breath print for two specific compounds which look very different in patients with stomach cancer and those are cancer-free. here's a tip. don't send drones into someone's home. all is going well until one chimp had enough. he swats it with a stick and sends it straths to the ground. they check out the drone for a few minutes and they lose interest is and they walk away. that's it for the tv show. one and done.

the roadway. back at 5:31. a reserve sheriffs deputy in oklahoma is being charge with manslaughter. this video plays out the deputy shooting a suspect after he was tackled to the ground during an under cover operation. the deputy says he thought his gun was his stun gun. the was -- suspect was taken to the hospital where he died from the injuries. soon lawyers could deliver the opening arguments in the trial of colorado theater shooting suspect james holmes. he's charged with killing 12 people at a theater where people were watching "the dark knight" three years ago. holmess has pled not guilty by reason of insanity. they are almost done picking a jury for the case. the son-in-law of sheldon silver was arrested. he was charged over a allege $7 million ponzi scheme.

washington where the family is announcing a lawsuit. megan, good morning. >> well, good morning. it was a terrible crime that focused attention on the issue of gun violence. back in october, nine-year-old jayden stancil was playing outside the may flower apartments when shots rang out. he was hit in the head with a stray bullet. initially it was thought he would likely die but he did recover. the family will file a lawsuit against the owners of the apartment complex and the company that provides security. they are going to be holding a press conference later on this morning and the family is expected to call for increased efforts to get guns off the streets as well as an end to gun violence the kind of violence that injured their nine-year-old. reporting live in northwest, megan mcgrath news 4. today, family and friends will get together to remember a

security guard shot and killed at the census building in suitland, maryland. that happened last thursday. a viewing for lawrence buckner will be held today in port royal, virginia. his funeral will be held in friday on westmoreland county. ronald anderson is arrested. police say 20-year-old kenneth stancil the third walk into a building at the community college and killed ron lane. he was formerly a student at the school and lane was a print operator in a shop where stancil had been part of a work study. today we'll learn what alex zan dreeia mayor's state of the city will be tonight. if you live in montgomery

welcome back. an alaska airline plane made an emergency landing after hearing screaming and banging from beneath the plane. the los angeles bound flight headed back to seattle yesterday and it wasn't just luggage they found in the cargo hold. an airline ramp worker was found inside the hold. luckily he suffered no injuries. that area is pressurized and temperature controlled so he's fine. he told first responders that he was taking a nap. fell asleep. didn't even realize the plane was taking off. >> he's so lucky that the pilot

it is a direct challenge to the president, the senate foreign relations committee is expected to vote today on a bill that gives congress more say over a nuclear deal with iran. edward lawrence is live with us this morning on capitol hill. can lawmakers make this bill veto proove though? >> i don't know about veto proof, but right now i'm telling you the white house is saying this is partisanship at its best. the senate foreign relations committee will vote a bill that

would force any deal with iran be voted in congress. another complication to all of this is the russians. they announced they are going to sell defensive missiles to iran which complicate things somewhat. sanctions are still in place. iran says they are going to take those missiles and the russians say they will continue with that sale. that sale was actually suspended five years. it's a sale that's been in the works and suspended by the sanctions. secretary of state kerry called his russian counterpart expressing concern. they are sure to mention this deal with the russians in the senate foreign relations committee today as they discuss the bill and any framework with a deal in iran on their nuclear program. at the live desk with this just coming in to us nigeria's new president says he cannot promise to bring back more than
