get your hands up! >> dramatic body camera video and the split decision an officer makes. and what a maryland man did with his car and a child in the back seat. we begin with a developing story in prince george's county. laurel police say a man has barricaded himself in an apartment onnal 8th street. investigators say the suspect may have fired shots in the area. they blocked off several blocks around the scene in laurel. police are dealing with that barricade situation. also tonight, students at the university of mary washington are grieving. they held a private memorial for grace mann a well known classmate murdered. she had been fighting for

student safety on campus. and she leaves quite a legacy. >> reporter: on the campus of the university of mary washington in fredericksburg students place flower observe a statue. it's where they gathered for a moment of silence to remember a student, grace mann she was killed allegedly by her own roommate at their house not far from campus. students asked the media to leave so they could mourn in private. >> everyone was devastated by what happened. >> reporter: the 20-year-old junior was found unconscious by two other roommates in the home around 3:00 in the afternoon on friday. one performed cpr. the alleged killer was still there. but authorities say he ran away before police arrived. he is also a mary washington student. he was found about two and a half hours later near riverside first church. >> this is a quiet neighborhood. nothing really happens here. >> reporter: mann is from falls church a history in american

studies major. she was with the university's task force on sexual assaults and a member of the student government association. one day she hoped to become a lawyer and fight against injustice. >> it's difficult because you don't know what's going on in someone's life and what they might do. it's a trust issue. it's really unfortunate he had to take it out on that girl. >> reporter: so far police have not yet revealed what the motive may have been for the killing or how exactly this college student died. the suspect, again, her roommate s being held without bond at the regional jail. in fredericksburg darcy spencer, news 4. tomorrow police are going to renew their search for two missing children in maryland. it's been seven months since anyone has seen jacob and sarah hoggle. police will fapn out across montgomery county to fry to find them.

residents are being asked to search properties. the children's mother katherine, is in a mental health facility charged with child negligent. police identified a man killed in d.c. but detectives are still looking for the person who stabbed him. joshua steele was stabbed last night near alabama avenue and randall place. officers found him critically wounded when they got there and are still looking for the suspect. more than two dozen people had to find a new place to stay tonight after a fire burned down their apartment. it broke out this morning at a complex called the oaks at park south. investigators say the fire started on one of the balconies in an air conditioning unit. five apartments were damaged. the red cross is helping those families with temporary housing. let's check the weather. we had one of the warmest weekends since last fall. we're all hoping it can stay that way. >> unfortunately it's not going to. tomorrow won't be a horrible weather day.

>> reporter: this arrest in suburban ohio could have easily turned violent. >> get your hands up! >> reporter: a man suspected of murdering his fiancee and friend charge at a man wearing a body camera. >> i don't want to shoot you. [ bleep ] [ bleep ] >> reporter: the officer is 27-year-old jesse kiter an iraq war veteran but a rookie on the force. >> i was trying to open a dialogue. i don't want to shoot you. just get on the ground. but he wasn't having it. >> do your worst. shoot me! >> get back. >> reporter: the police were advised that the murder suspect may try to get himself shot. and he may have a gun. >> stand by. subject possibly had a weapon under the seat and could possibly be suicide by cops. >> he put his hand in his pocket there. my eyes are watching that hand right now and nothing else. >> reporter: back pedaling the entire time, kidder stumbles and falls.

[ bleep ] >> get down on the ground! >> reporter: backup arrived, the suspect was arrested and no one was shot. alcoholic beverage control agents may be going too far in virginia. an associated press investigation found that abc ajens have been hit with complaints of using excessive force three times in the last five years. we know one incident is not included. from two years ago involving a student at university of virginia. in that case an agent mistook elizabeth daley's sparkling water for beer and tried to break the window on her car. it's unclear if a complaint has been filed for the recent arrest of martese johnson who was bleeding as atf agents handcuffed him. investigators say an officer

was unloading some stuff in his car when a thief jumped in and drove off. the officer fired at least one shot at the car, a few blocks away the car thief stopped and dropped the child off unharmed. police later found that car abandoned but they're still looking for the suspect. this flight already got him in trouble. so the man who landed his guy yo continue gyro copter on the front lawn of the capitol will be driving home. hughes will have to wear an ankle monitor until he comes back to face charges in may. over in alex sandil alexandria a bmw hit a curb and crashed into a fire hydrant and telephone pole.
