headlines for its portrayal of muslims. new reaction to a maryland student group delaying a screening of "american sniper." >> and the news 4 iteam uncovering dangerous stunts even yoga poses on metro tracks. first tonight, emotions running high in baltimore. protesters demanding answers in the death of 25-year-old freddie gray. >> gray's spinal cord was severely damaged in the back of a baltimore police van nearly two weeks ago now and we still don't know how that happened. >> today a lawyer for the police union said gray was not strapped in with a seat belt as required by department policy. news 4 chris lawrence is live at our desk with what's happening, chris? >> during earlier tonight, officers hauled away at least two of the protesters for disorderly conduct and destruction of property and at one point demonstrators

surrounded a police car downtown. >> hands up don't shoot. >> the majority of the protesters have been peaceful not provocative. the tension did flare up at one point when a small group got very close to officers and the police started shouting at them to back up. maryland governor larry hogan sent state troopers to help with crowd control and baltimore city officials have been urging people who work downtown to go home early. >> we need justice in the city of baltimore. we need justice in every street corner in every neighborhood like never before. >> a group of ministers held a prayer vigil tonight just a few blocks from where freddie gray was arrested. the ministers say they represent more than 100,000 and are trying to bring the city back together. a civil rights group is launching its own investigation into gray's arrest and injuries saying it doesn't trust the mayor's office to conduct an impartial review. freddie gray's funeral will take

place on monday. meantime the six officers involved in his arrest have been suspended with pay. >> chris lawrence. there are new questions tonight about the reach of the obama administration's drone program after today's revelation that a strike killed two hostages. that includes a rockville aid worker warren weinstein was kidnapped in pakistan in 2011. president obama said that weinstein died in a january drone strike and he profoundly regrets what happened and he said there was nine tell jens indicating hostages were held at the strike target. tonight weinstein's family and his rockville neighbors are heartbroken. >> i can't even comprehend right

now. >> an italian aid worker was also killed in the strike. weinstein's family said his captors are ultimately responsible for his death. there's new video tonight that shows family members of convicted marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev arriving in boston. family was escorted by federal agents to waiting advance outside logan airport. it is unclear if the relatives are in the country to testify in the penalty phase of tsarnaev's trial or simply to support him. tsarnaev's attorneys are trying to spare him the death penalty. a student organization at the university of maryland is postponing a screening of the film "american sniper," and that decision is sparking controversy on campus and online. critics, in fact are posting hateful messages. shomari stone is live with more on backlash. >> reporter: university of maryland officials say they are not responsible for the cancellation of this movie being

shown here on campus. they say "c," which is the student events group is responsible for this and decided to postpone this screening this smis ter. the decision came after the muslim students protested "american sniper" saying the film is racist and supporters contend chris kyle is an american hero but those who disagree say the movie could climate on campus. some people posted online derogatory comments about muslims and on student association facebook page. the student group contacted cair the council on american-islamic relations about the facebook comments. >> they are attacking the students muslim students as well for objecting to the screen of "american sniper." i think it's important to keep in mind that the concern is not that the film was being screened

specifically but the fact that there wasn't any kind of broader discussion taking place. >> in a written statement "see student entertainment events supports freedom of expression and hopes to create space for the airing of opposing viewpoints and differing perceptions. supporters of "american sniper," again, would hike to see it shown here on campus. live at the university of maryland shomali stone. >> a man accused of killing d.c. department of corrections official carolyn cross will learn when he'll face a jury. a judge declared a mistrial in the dawit seyoum. jurors couldn't decide if he was guilty murder or not guilty by reason of insanity. seyoum is said to have killed cross in her home last september. a judge today granted a change of convenientu in the

metro customers pushing the limit and walking on the metro tracks. putting not only themselves but other passengers at risk. an investigation by the news 4 iteam reveals a series of people doing so recently at different stations and for different reasons. as scottnow, all of them facing the same deadly risk. >> reporter: like so many of us the guy was typing on his phone waiting for his train at the pentagon metro station. >> he fell off right in front of us. >> as a train approached. >> the lights started flashing when he fell off. >> jennifer buchanan and her dad pulled the man from below. >> right on edge. you have to reach over. hi to reach over and grab him. >> they say, they too, were nearly pulled down on the tracks in the process of saving the man who had fallen but the news 4 iteam are saying some are deliberately ending on the tracks. >> a dare or a stunt and something they want to pie on

service -- to see on social media. >> this couple on an empty section of the platform at the west falls church metro station. watch as she takes off her coat and scarf and they both jump down on the tracks. she begins to strike yoga poses while he snaps pictures. she nearly slips twice. so close to that high voltage third rail and she even does handstands before eventually climbing out. a metro employee eventually intervene and they would hop on the next train. that's not all the iteam found. in march a man lowered himself on to the tracks in landover. another did it too, one recent evening at metro center. he struggled to get out until about 30 seconds later.

if they want to be successful and close out this series but the caps did a great job of warming up the verizon center for the wizards who play tomorrow night. they are leading the series 2-0. let's face it they are fantastic on road. the problem is when they gom home so they need that road mentality. >> hopefully we won't be able to hear ourselves think. that's what it was like year and hopefully it will be even better and loud they are year and our fans are huge for us. we just need someone to continue to show the support for us. >> play a mindset like we're on the road and tray not to get into it with the crowd and get hyped. stick with it act like we're down the whole game and just win. >> the cool part about being here this late they are taking down the caps emblem to throw up the women bems embow for the game. >> we're going to be loud too.

breaking news out of indiana tonight. several high school students have been injured, some critically after a stage collapsed at a high school. this is it. it happened at westfield high school outside indianapolis. kids were performing in a rock concert when the floor just gave way.
