coming up we'll look at 95 in maryland. 4:33. this story has a lot of people fired up online. a student organization at the university of maryland has postponed a screening of the movie "american sniper." that award winning film depicts the life and career of chris kyle. it came after the muslim student association protested. it claims the movie spreads islamaphobia. someone posted a derogatory comment about muslims. >> they're talking the muslim students as well for objecting to this screening of "american sniper." and i think it's important to keep in mind that the concern is not that the film was being screened specifically. but the fact that there wasn't any kind of broader discussion taking place. >> now supporters call kyle an american hero and they want the movie shown on campus. the school says tha creates a dang reuss climate. today, an area university

will celebrate the life of grace mann. her roommate is said to have killed her in the apartment. a vigil for her is set to begin at noon in fredericksburg. organizers want attendees to dress in bright colors. steven van der briel is charged with strangling her. and now it's the bomber's lawyer's turn to spare him from the death penalty. dzhokhar tsarnaev's relatives could testify on his behalf. after three days the prosecution finished presenting vivid descriptions of those who survived the 2013 bombing including a father pushing his 3-year-old in a stroller when they were blown away by the blast. tsarnaev's lawyers will present their witnesses on monday. the video is playing a huge role in a local police officer's misconduct trial. you can see a prince george's county police officer hitting a

teenager and since this video became public that officer is no longer fighting the charge. jerry thomas hit the handcuffed teen three times during an incident in 2012. thomas claimed he hit the teen to protect himself from being spit on. but after yesterday's testimony from the state thomas changed his not guilty plea. >> the trial was going on because he didn't want to admit his guilt. but he acknowledged that the state had enough evidence to find him guilty. and that he would therefore plead guilty under alford. >> now thomas is on paid suspension right now. the state attorney's office wants him to get jail time. you and your wallet won't get slammed by a metro increase. metro won't raise fares or make any significant service changes. today they'll meet with the county council to discuss other concerns in montgomery county. that's at 2:00 in rockville. well, you've probably seen the giant bright billboards

outside the verizon center. one group wants to keep them from popping up in other areas. proposed laws could allow verizon laws in those designated entertainment areas. one concerned group says the signs make the district look unrecognizable. >> one reason we're so beautiful is that we don't have all of the outdoor advertising junk you see all over america's highways. all of that litter on the stick. now we've got the litter on the sides of buildings. >> d-dot crafted the proposed law to prevent the sign glare from annoying people in their homes and apartments. this weekend if it feels you're cruising through the traffic better than before, it might be. they're changing the timing of traffic lights finally. it will affect 650 intersections starting tonight at 8:00. it stretches from 23rd and "u" street to i-95.

north korea is slamming defense talks between the u.s. and south korea. the north koreans issued this statement on tv calling the talks a plot to deploy a missile system in south korea. but the u.s. has said recently it's not ready to discuss a high altitude defense system. it comes amid new reports that it's adding to the arsenal of nuclear warheads. take a look at this a helmet camera captured video from a fire at a mansion in new jersey. that camera gives you an inside look at what fighting a fire looks and sounds like. you can see and hear firefighters clearing the home, making sure everyone got out here. then they head up to the attic to fight the flames. that 22-room mansion caught fire earlier this week. it took nearly six hours to get everything under control. still, you can't -- it gives you a little bit of a sense of what that is like for firefighters

is. right now, details coming in from italy about a nationwide police raid to knock down a major terrorist cell. 18 people have been arrested in seven different provinces with a base located in sardinia. now reports say some of the islamist terror suspects are businessmen who conducted normal lives and financed al qaeda in pakistan. police suspect them of work on an attack in pakistan and believe that system of them are responsible for killing up to 100 people at a marketplace bombing in peshawar years ago. >> molette, thank you. we still don't know how a baltimore man's spine was crushed in the back of a police van. a lawyer for the police union said freddie gray was not strapped in with a seat belt as required by the department

policy. as protests continue maryland governor larry hogan sent state troopers to help with crowd control. a group of ministers held a prayer vigil a few blocks from where gray was arrested. >> we need justice in the city of baltimore. we need justice in every street corner, in every neighborhood like never before. >> gray's funeral is on monday. the six officers involved in the arrest are suspended with pay. 4:47. the family of a rockville man killed in a u.s. strike is still reeling from his death. the president is taking responsibility but critics want to know how the cia could have been so wrong. nbc's tracie potts is live on capitol hill monitoring the situation. good morning to you. >> reporter: eun good morning. this is a story about a local d.c. area family 73-year-old warren weinstein, a grandfather, from rockville. an aid worker who had been captured in pakistan by al qaeda. president obama is apologizing

for the u.s. drone strike that killed him and another aid worker an italian man. also as part of those drone strikes there were a couple of them in january. two other americans were killed. these americans were working with al qaeda. and now, questions here on capitol hill how did it happen? how was the information verified before those drone strikes? and why did the u.s. not know it was killing innocent civilians? in this case innocent hostages. one of them an american. eun? >> tracie potts, thank you. attorney general eric holder will walk out of his office for the last time this afternoon. the senate confirmed loretta lynch as his replacement. holder will speak one last time as a.g. at an event in his honor. and a judge declared a mistrial in the case against dawit seyoum. jurors could not decide whether he was guilty of murder or not guilty by reason of insanity.

prosecutors say seyoum killed carolyn cross with a wrench in her alexandria home last september. the man accused of killing three people in alexandria will face trial in fairfax county. a judge granted a change of venue in the charles severance trial yesterday. we learned some of the evidence prosecutors plan to use against the accused murderer. they say the same type of bullets were used to kill the three people. metro is concerned about passengers pushing their luck not on the trains but on the actual tracks themselves. the news4 i-team obtained shocking video here. check out the surveillance cameras which police say show nearly a dozen passengers intentionally trespassing on the tracks since late last year. that includes one couple that decided to turn the train station into their own personal photo shoot. jumping down on the tracks the man snapping photos here while the woman strikes a yoga pose. >> they go down there for a

>> welcome back. blue bell creameries closing all three of the factories in texas, oklahoma for cleaning. those creameries will be closed the next week and into the following week. they announced a complete recall. it's linked to listeria in four states including three deaths. now another ice cream recall to tell you about, jenny's splendid ice cream is recalling all the products. now stores like whole foods, value duchy's and super target sell that type of ice cream. the company says return it to the store for a refund. earlier this week blue bell recalled all of its products. someone stole a vintage car from a repair shop in northern virginia and police hope you can help find it. take a look. this is the red 1970 ford bronco.

fairfax county police say only a few are on the roads today. they think this one is easy to recognize as well so even if you aren't a karloffer you might be able to spot it if it's on the road. we're told it has washington state license plates. a georgetown university alum donating $10 million to the school. that money will help launch a new center focused on global real estate. it will offer career planning for students hands on learning through a real estate clinic and opportunities for consulting projects. it's not what one montgomery county police officer was expecting when he pulled over a speeding car in silver spring. when the driver rolled down the window yesterday, he told officer dan campbell that his wife was in labor. he tried to escort them with the lights on but couldn't make it. that i pulled over for a second time and campbell jumped into action. >> i could see that the baby was crowning already and being delivered. i was able to put on my gloves. and at that point, mom did all
