a suss spill, the death -- a suspicious death on the golf course in prince georges county. i'm derrick ward. i will details on news4. dozens of people and several people hurt after the chaos in baltimore. tonight, a clearer picture emerging of the violent protests. after shocks are hindering search and rescue efforts in nepal as the death toll from that earthquake rises to 2500.

we begin tonight with a gruesome find at a local golf course. right now, prince georges county police are trying to identify a body found in a car at the golf course in bowie. as derrick ward discovered the fire was so intense, both the car and victim are almost unrecognizable. >> a scorched section of the green just off the fair way, ground zero for a mystery. police are calling it a suspicious death investigation. >> we are asking if you are missing a loved one, if you know anything about this case to contact us as soon as you can about it. >> reporter: it started to up fold about 5 a.m. when a grounds keeper came upon a burning car. he dialed 911. >> withhen police and fire personnel arrived on the scene, they discovered, in fact, a burning car but also a body associated with a burning car. >> reporter: police say the car so thundershower rowly burned, vin numbers and license plates had melted away and couldn't tell what kind of car it was. the body inside burned beyond

small groups of people ran through the streets, breaking store windows and jumping on cars. this all started with the death of freddie gray. today, his family held a wake for him and mourners came to pay their respects at his coffin. gray died last sunday one week after he suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury at police custody. that outraged a all right of people and sparked protest across the city late last night, baltimore's mayor and gray's sister called for calm. >> freddie's father and mother [ inaudible ] justice. and profoundly disappointed to see the city to see the violence in our city. >> police ac no, ma'amed friday that gray should have received medical attention at the spot where he was arrested. over in annapolis today, another group rallied in support of law enforcement. they carried signs that said blue lives matter and people honked their horns and clapped as about 100 marchers walked by a group called united for blue organized the march and said it

is trying to rally support for law enforcement. they also want to help unite officers with the communities they patrol through outreach and education. they are still experiencing aftershocks in nepal and those trimmers are terrifying survivors and hindering some of the rescue efforts. the number of people killed is now more than 2500. the 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit early saturday and centered about 50 miles outside cat man due. nbc's kelly cobiella has the damage and sbons. >> reporter: more strong aftershocks this morning triggered more avalanches on mount everest and in cat man duke the risk of more buildings falling down. incredible images overnight of rescuers pulling people alive from the debris. 12 were pulled out from a collapsed budget hotel today but unfortunately, the number of dead and injured is still climbing. nearly 5,000 are injured and being treated in makeshift

hospitals. >> okay here we have an avalanche and had it happened now. >> reporter: on mount everest, it is a tense day, three more avalanches hit one of the camps. climbers talk about hearing the rocks falling and not being able to see them. about 15 of the most seriously injured have been taken off the mountain by helicopter. horrible things. people carrying like sticks to carry dead people you know? >> reporter: at least 17 are dead. among them dan fredinburg who work bored google. it was his second trip to everest, according to a friend. he was there last year when the avalanche killed 16 sherpas. this climb was dedicated to them. the government in nepal is overwhelmed and so are the hospitals. they are also running out of medical supplies. help is on the way from the u.s. china, end kbra pakistan britain and many other countries. a lot of roads are still blocked though and rescue teams are

a group of marchers took to the streets today, promising to never forget those lost to genocide. they kicked off the first walk to end genocide at the holocaust museum in southwest d.c. organizers are demanding u.s. officials take on more of a leadership role and try to end atrocityies like the crisis in darfur also raising money to improve the lives of survivors. tuesday the supreme court will hear arguments on whether state bans on gay marriage are up constitutional. earlier tonight, people of all different faiths came together at a synagogue in arlington to embrace the lgbt community. faith leaders also invited people to sign a banner with the names of friends and loved ones who could be affected by the court's decision. on tuesday, they plan to carry that banner to the steps of the supreme court. all right. let's take a live look at what's been a picture perfect day and the highs in the 60s this afternoon, but change is on the way. amelia will show us what to

guests at this hotel in northern virginia heard several loud booms in the middle of the night and thought they were under attack. a few minutes later, the building was engulfed in heavy smoke and flames. in fact firefighters were still trying to put the fire out hours after those initial explosions.

this happened at the quality inn in the alexandria section of fairfax county. news4's darcy spencer is live on richmond highway. and darcy, this seems like it could have been a lot worse. >> reporter: it certainly could, if you think about it. this happened at the worst possible time 2:30 in the morning, with the hotel filled with 200 guests. there was a possibility for massive loss of life. fortunately that did not happen. as it turns out, there were some air force cadets staying here from new york city and i'm told they went door to door inside here and told everyone to get out. now, there were some reports of some explosions here inside the hotel. what i can tell you is the fire department says that there is nothing suspicious about this fire. it is electrical in nature, started on the first floor in the electrical room and that it was accidental in cause. as we said, this could have had the potential for a lot of loss of life and fortunately, there was only one injury. >> three little small explosions

and then there was a real real big explosion and that's when they started telling people to get out. >> i thought that maybe we were under attack or something, so of course we all went back into our rooms. then decided for everybody to come out. so we just -- we just ran. >> reporter: now, the fire department also tells me that the fire got into some of the airspaces within the building. that's very dangerous. there's a potential for flairups so they are going to keep a fire engine right here on the scene in the overnight hours just in case there are any of those flare ups. back to you, chris. >> thanks darcy. should would be nice to get another couple days like the one we had today. but based on our track record the last couple of weeks, i don't even expect it now >> in all seriousness, tomorrow suspect going to be as spectacular as it was today. tuesday and wednesday are actually looking pretty nice. your weather headlines. for tomorrow, going to be on the cool side high temperatures upper 50s, low 60s, not only
