crashed. there were six marines and two nepalese service members. they radioed in about a fuel problem before it went missing. >> that was hours after a magnitude 7.3 earthquake rocked nepal again. at least 66 people from nepal, india, chinese and tibet are feared dead. this is the second quake in less than 3 weeks. the first killed 8,000 people. today's jolted fairfax county search and rescue team as they were planning to leave the country. mark seagraves joins us from chantilly, mark? >> reporter: the missing helicopter is very much on their minds but three members of that virginia-based task force are on their way home from nepal as we speak but 54 members and their dogs remain on the ground

actively doing operations of search and rescue and we don't know when the rest of them will be home but when the aftershock hit this morning they jumped into action. >> many of the members of virginia task force one were in a hotel in kathmandu when the 7.3 aftershock hit. the team quickly assembled and began a structure assessment of the building they were living in then began a perimeter search of the area looking for victims. a spokesperson tells news 4 the team continues to perform active operations. the 57-person search an rescue team and dogs gathered their gear and boarded a military transport plane for nepal more than two weeks ago. were they preparing to come home when the deadly aftershock hit. just a few days after arrival in nepal the fairfax-based team was part of a rescue of a 15-year-old boy trapped beneath the rubble. 57 members of virginia task force had been in nepal for 15

days. they bring enough supplies to remain selfie sufficient for 21 days but when the team prepares to demobilize and return home they give away all of their equipment as well as their food tents and other supplies to local rescue teams and victims. a spokesperson did not know whether the fairfax team had actually disbursed their supplies before were they ordered held over. the team was preparing to demobilize and come home when the aftershock hit. while three members of the team did make it on to a plane. 54 members are still in nepal. some living in a hotel in kathmandu. others living out of base camp. we're told they are all safe and healthy and conducting search and rescue operations in cat kathmandu kathmandu. >> now, that hotel that many search and rescue team are living in in kathmandu has been found to be structurally table. of course they are all accounted for safe and healthy. as for the three members flying back a spokesperson would not

say when they are expected back in our area. jim, back to you. >> mark segraves this. police in madison, wisconsin, received credible threats that gang helps are planning attacks against officers there. this after a prosecutor announced a white officer would not face charges for killing an unfarmed biracial man. officer matt kenny shot and killed tony robinson back in march. kenny told investigators that robinson punched him in the head and he feared for his life. a dean from the university of virginia is suing the magazine. the dean nicole ramo filed a defamation lawsuit against the magazine and against the author. she said it cast her as a chief villain and suggested she discourage reporting of an alleged rape to police because

she was worried about uva's reputation. a law enforcement source calls it one of the most violent crime scenes in recent memory. tonight we're learning where the investigation is moving in a double murder in a quiet rockville neighborhood. pat collins is in the neighborhood with more on this. pat? >> reporter: because of what happened here many people who live around here are now on high alert. the double mother's day murder at this house on ridge drive in rockville has changed the way some people live here jackie meltser has been in this neighborhood for 24 years. >> i am locking twice and checking twice, and it definitely maybe us think. it mains you think about putting an alarm in. you can't help it. >> reporter: a law enforcement source with knowledge of this case says this is one of the most violent crime scenes in recent memory.

sources say investigators are looking into a number of scenario including a possibility this was a burgh glory gone bad. sources say investigators are looking into the.that the attack began inside the house, and then extended outside to the yard where dick vilardo's body was found. dick and jody vilardo, murdered at their rockville home on mother's day. the weapon believed to be some sort of knife or sharp instrument. they were discovered by one of their children after the couple missed a family gathering on mother's day morning. >> when the worst things happen to the best people, it just makes you sick. >> reporter: that's steve fairbanks a friend and business partner of dick vilardo. i talked to him today. >> it's important to find the person responsible? >> yes, it it is. you know, we are heart broken

wheaton mall back in 1975. montgomery county police searched the welsh home and a shed behind it. they would not say if anything was found or taken from there. a ride in a ferrari, a rolex watch, a shopping spree for the first lady. gifts from a wealthy businessman to former governor bob mcdonnell are well known. but should the gifts add up to prison time? that's the question so many people outside of virginia are now following and they are all looking to the courtroom where julie kerry was sitting a few pete from bob mcdonnell today as attorneys from both sides made their arguments. >> is this one of the most important days of your life? >> of course. >>. >> reporter: important because the case bob mcdonnell's attorney made could keep him out of prison. the things that they did for

johnny williams were not official acts part of a bribery scheme. it contained a fatal flaw a definition of acts far too broad. >> an official act could encompass something innocuous as a photo op. >> one judge seemed to throw sympathy for the mcdonnell position. >> there's one quid pro quo. >> a lot of quid meaning stuff given and less quo meaning favors done for williams. >> these are political courtesies that every state official engages in at some part because that's part of their job. >> reporter: but prosecutors reported to the timing of mcdonnell's actions favors done over a two-year period for example a drive in a ferrari led to a call to set up a meeting and mcdonnell's lawyer complains

>> announcer: you're watching news 4 at 6:00. firefighters are becoming a more familiar sight at metro stations. today montgomery county fire and rescue crews investigated reports of arcing insulator at a bethesda station. turned out there was no problem. the incident caused delays around the redline. the incident caused an awful day for metro riders because of smoke under the potomac center near rosslyn. those toll lanes in virginia stretched for miles and tonight talking about building more of them. but the question is are they giving you a better commute. adam tuss is in tyson's corner with new information about all of this. hi adam. >> that's right. i-66 is the next place we could see these tolls but tonight the debate is whether or not the road is giving you benefit

investigation. sunday night 34-year-old lionel young was shot and killed according to a spokesman, young was involved in a domestic dispute that spun out of control and then a chase out of district of columbia and back into george's county. according to the sheriff's department department,down rammed the vehicle and said they were all shocked by all of this happening. we checked young's criminal background and found he had serious issues when he was younger but definitely stopped dole a lot of stuff he used to do as he got older. is that's one of the reasons family members were trying to fill out what happened with his girlfriend. the vin goes gags into what the sheriff's deputies did. back to you all in the studio.

their own home allegedly at the hands of andrew schmuhl. they're accused of holding alesia's former boss and his wife in a home. the prosecution said she stade in the cars her husband tore tuned the couple. the victim said he saw andrew push his way through the front door. i t something at me and taser me. i fell to the floor and was seizing for a period of time. andrew tied him and his wife up began interrogating him. next thing i know a gunshot. he jumped on top of me. put a pillow over high head and slit my throat. i yelled to my wife he's ill killing me. he then turned to his wife raised his hand up and i saw a gun in his hand. i felt the bullet and i fell. that bullet griezed the wife's head. as for andrew schmuhl.
