leesburg a few towards rappahannock county and charles and st. mary's. nothing that heavy, headed out to the national ceremony on the national mall it will be damp outside. wet seat can you gos for sure. won't be cold. temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s now. manassas, virginia cloudy skies, a warm start, 74 by 10:00 achlt rain chances increasing as we get into the middle and later parts of the afternoon. high today low- to mid-80s. tomorrow's forecast coming up in a few. >> all right, chuck. we'll check in with you then. a busy morning. more breaking news into the newsroom. prince george's fire an ems, coming up a woman has died in a fire in the apartment in the oxon hill area. firefighters responded to reports of smoke in that building around 5:00 this morning. they found a small fire in a third floor apartment. that woman was found in the area where that fire started. she had burn injuries according to investigators. firefighters say there was a working smoke alarm in the

apartment. however, it appears to have been moved to a hallway closet. that may have delayed the audible warning. >> d.c. asking for help to find a person of interest in a quadruple homicide. they have released surveillance footage and we have that for you. news 4 derrick ward near the home with more on what police are finding in the home. derrick. >> reporter: you can look at the scene here what's left of the fire. usually it would be the purview of insurance investigators now. a look at the broader scene, police cars an crime scene tape let's you know something much more serious is afoot. take a look at surveillance video. this is released by metropolitan police last night. they are calling this a person of interest in the connection of the fire and death of four people at the house 3200 block of woodlawn drive. savvas savopoulos and his wife and child were found dead in the

fire thursday. police investigators quickly deemed those deaths were a homicide. the fire was, indeed suspicious. they are also looking into reports a blue porche 911 seen near the house shortly before the fire that car was found burning hours after the fire. we believe that person of interest in the video is associated with that. there are reports that one of the victims, at least one of the victims, suffered some sort of trauma. reports also from the hospital emergency room there was a strong smell of gasoline about the bodies of one of those victims. so police are hoping this new video they have released information on that car and perhaps anything else out there might help jog people's memory about what happened and give them the break they need to solve this case. folks from this neighborhood have been coming by all morning. they are deeply troubled by this. they are concerned it was random and also concerned it wasn't random. both of those are providing

little comfort for the folks who live in this neighborhood in the northwest. derrick ward news 4. >> derrick, where a community remains on edge. thanks so much for that report. later this afternoon we're expecting to learn more about an arrest made in connection with a double murder. this in rock hill. overnight we found police in juneau, alaska took a suspect into custody. scott tomaszewski arrested coming off a cruise ship. right now he's held in juneau. montgomery county police first announced the arrest last night. they say tomaszewski lived down the steet from the vilardos the couple found stabbed to death on mother's day. montgomery county police will hold a news conference this afternoon. stay with news 4 as developments continue to unfold or go ahead and push out updates on our nbc washington app. prince george's county police need your help. they are looking for anyone who has information about a double homicide in oxon hill. police called to aubrey lane on

friday where they found a man with a gunshot wound. he later died at the hospital. then police found a second man dead behind a nearby apartment building. he had also been shot. >> firefighters working to find the cause of a deadly apartment fire. this in alexandria. a man died in that fire. a second person being treated for serious burns. the fire broke out early yesterday on the third floor of an apartment building on kenmore avenue off 395. neighbors were asleep when that fire started. >> i was in the apartment with my wife. >> i told my husband, wake up there's a fire. fire hurry up. >> a couple of the folks who don't have a place stay right now. fire officials say it will will be weeks before those residents can return to their homes. working to find what caused a bad crash in temple hills. we told you yesterday morning. a car rolled over on the

parkway. five people in that car. three of them children under the age of 10. we hear those kids were thrown from the car. they had to be airlifted to the hospital. as for the two adults they were trapped and they had to pry them out. federal investigators already asking for big changes from amtrak after a derailment killed eight people on tuesday. officials want amtrak to improve speed drols on trains in the area where that crash happened. they want amtrak to reassess the speeds these trains travel around curves. amtrak told to put up more signs with speed limits around their routes. they will comply with directives. safety upts come as new questions raised about possibility the train's engine or windshield could have been hit by a projectile. the national transportation safety board called in fbi to investigate this. there appears to be two other incidents in the area in which trains were hit by projectiles. >> the question for me is

whether whatever happened was enough to distract the operator of the train to cause him to lose situational awareness and to not break and not slow down when he should have. >> so that train engineer is talking to investigators, remember what happened before the train derailed. >> taking a look now at your week ahead. on monday fairfax county now asking members of the public if their opinions on police practices. you still have one more day to register if you would like to speak at a forum. it comes amid nationwide conversation about police tactics. the commission has been asked to make recommendations about how fairfax police can build public trust especially when it comes to police involved incidents. the forum starts at 7:30 p.m. recommendations do you by october 31th. also in the week ahead a new fire station opening its doors in montgomery county. a ground breaking ceremony held tomorrow for the new station in the glenmont neighborhood of

iteam found route 29 or fairfax city line. state records show 10% spike in school bus passing each year since 2011. we found the most drivers charged here in montgomery county. more than this south of lake forest mall in gaithersburg. keep your eye on the small truck on the left next to this bus. then another bus stops. even as the kids exit this blue car drives right past. it's not just the kids in danger school bus camera footage shows adults crossing the road nearly hit by cars that ignored the stopped bus. on this narrow piece of i-65 57 drivers ticketed louisiana year. >> i've seen it firsthand. >> this man says his daughter nearly hit in germantown. he says it's time to do something, a $500 fine for this.

it's going to be at a premium. that actually helps a little bit. yesterday we had enough sunshine to fire off severe thunderstorms. today these extra clouds even though we have a chance for thundershowers coming back later on this afternoon will be just a little cooler. as a result the storms won't have quite the punch they did yesterday. that will be a little bit of good news. right now, cloudy 73 in washington. feeling like summertime outside with temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s right now. 73 washington 70 in gaithersburg and leesburg 72 in winchester. hourly temperatures out of the 70s and into the low 80s. there will again be a chance for thunderstorms. one or two of them could be on the strong side. we'll keep you posted on that. you can always have storm team 4 weather. impact low and moderate. storm chances increasing later on this afternoon. if you're traveling today, could be big impacts on chicago, st. louis, memphis, little rock dallas and houston. big severe weather out across

morning. temperatures in the low and middle 70s. sky cast 4 shows not much in the way of sunshine. may be one or two peeks mid-80s. showers and storms likely. not quite as strong and not quite the coverage we saw yesterday. back to work and school forecast coming up with seven-day in a few minutes. >> chuck, thanks. more traffic problems for metro. this time in bethesda. we learned about the issue from the montgomery county fire department. they tweeted out this alert about an arcing insulator at the bethesda station. trains had to single track but no fire. investigators believe an arcing insulator caused the smoke to fill the area one person died in that incident. orange silver blue line trains every 18 minutes, yellee and green every 20.

>> u.s. military officials say american delta force commandos took off from northern iraq in black hawk helicopters and ospray aircraft like these and flew deep into isis-controlled territory in eastern syria. no allies on the ground. if the u.s. forces were captured, they risked unimaginable horrors. a jordanian pilot captured by isis was burned alive. u.s. officials say the american target abu sayyaf was a top isis money man who managed isis's oil and gas income and close to the leader al baghdadi. the target did not go quietly. there was a gunfight, even hand to hand fighting. abu sayyaf was killed along what dozen or more isis fighters. >> the fact united states was

we're working to find out why a d.c. ambulance was not available to take the officer to the hospital. he was hurt on the job yesterday he was hur on the job yesterday but had to be transported to the hospital by a prince george's county ambulance. police tell us the officer hurt his knee while walking on barnes street northeast. the officer is expected to be okay. the owner of pimlico might decide to move the race. the owner says he's considering moving the race to a sunday. the change in day could happen as soon as next year. the change envenue may not happen a few more years. pre-k niece winner american pharoah trying to do something that's not been done in 37 years. many have tried. last year california chrome. viktor espinoza ride thanksgiving horse. he's also riding american pharoah. it's his third attempt to ride a triple crown winner.

>> right now we have restored power to that area. we still have about 268 customers still without power. but police are there. they are monitoring traffic. understand that the beltway is now open and they are working to get a couple lanes of the outer loop open. >> that is the time line. as we take a look at live picture. crews are there still on the scene. what are they working to fix right now? >> right now they are making temporary repairs to get the rest of the customers back on. going back later for permanent repairs. first point of contention was to make the area safe and to make temporary repairs. so right now they are on site. they are investigating what happened and working to get the rest of our customers back on soon. >> all right, daisy with dominion power. thank you so much for your time and keeping everybody updated. >> thank you. >> the good news is we've got

parts of oklahoma massive tornadoes hit the area. check out video, tornado touching down elmer south of oklahoma city. another storm expected to hit tomorrow. >> texas bracing for a severe storm. heavy rain and hail hitting the region yesterday. hail covered roads in texoma which is the border between texas and oklahoma. more than two inches of rain fell in just 24 hours causing the roads to flood. heavy rains expected to hit the

region on tuesday. montgomery county's emergency communication closer to home lighting up after a storm moves through the area here. callers reporting several struck by lightning last night. looking at video at the house ol any hidden garden lane. fortunately wasn't much damage here. dispatchers received calls that drivers were stranded in deep standing water. one person waited on the roof of a pickup truck until help could come. >> those were pop-up storms chuck bell you warned about yesterday. >> you betcha. >> you thinking today, too? >> the clouds are doing us a favor right now of the clouds are going to seal out the sunshine. yesterday we made 88 degrees ahead of the thunderstorms. the reason we had powerhouse storms we did is because it got so warm. the cloud deck is going to hold temperatures down a bit. the cooler we stay the lower the risk for strong thunderstorms later on this afternoon. a little bit of a good news scenario there. clouds remain very thick over

washington this morning having just been on the front lawn of channel 4, i can tell you loads of raindrops, spits and drizzles what i'd like to call them getting down to the ground underneath these clouds tells me these clouds are awfully thick up there. that's going to limit sunshine and thunderstorm chances for today. there will still ab chance but just garden variety thunderstorms not severe thunderstorm thresholds we reached yesterday. 73 right now but feels like summertime out there. our dew points are in the upper 60s to near 70. dew point is how humid it feels outside. the higher that number is the more sticky it feels. already temperatures low- to mid-70s across the region. fsu feels like the middle of july out there. temperatures later today will get up into the low 80s. it will be warm enough for a chance for a few thunderstorms later this afternoon. it won't be warm enough to have big severe weather threat like we faced yesterday. if you're traveling today, st. louis down towards dallas and houston, they will have big severe weather down there, also
