the dark. >> angie, following more breaking news right now coming into our newsroom out of prince george's county. fire and ems telling us a woman died in a fire in an apartment in the oxon hill area. firefighters reported smoke. when they showed up found a small fire in a third floor apartment. a woman found in the area where the fire started with injuries. she was pronounced dead. there was a working smoke alarm in the apartment, but here is the problem. it appears to have been moved to a hallway apartment which may have delayed the warning found. i'm david culver. >> i'm angie goff. today is may 17. we want to check in with storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell that tells us the clouds we're seeing out there are helping us out today. >> helping the threat of low to severe thunderstorms this afternoon. still a chance for a rumble or two. they probably aren't going to pack the punch they did

asking for your help to find a person of interest in a quadruple homicide. they have released surveillance footage and we have that for you. news 4 derrick ward was alive this morning near the home with more on what police are saying. derrick. >> yeah. well you can see this remains the crime scene. take a look at the house in the 3200 block of woodlawn drive northwest. the fire on thursday. this is surveillance footage. police are calling they released this video last night. this person is a person of interest 46-year-old savvas savopoulos his wife amy and 10-year-old child philip as well as the housekeeper. no bodies found amid the charred remains of the fire that appears to have been focused upstairs. investigators say at the time they found bodies one showed trauma. at the hospital there was a

strong smell of gasoline. police also investigating a connection with a porsche 911 seen before the fire. yesterday afternoon found abandoned and burning in landon maryland. they think there's a connection amid all of those factors. however, they have yet to bring them together. they are hoping the release of this new information will indeed do that. folks in this neighborhood are, of course worried about this. they are wondering if it was random or not. neither of those options are providing much comfort to the folks here in the northwest. we're live derrick ward news 4. >> darrick, thanks so much. later this afternoon we're expecting to learn more about an arrest made in connection with a double murder. this was in rockville. overpass we learned police in juneau juneau, alaska took a suspect in custody. scott tomaszewski was arrested taken off a cruise ship. he's held in juneau. montgomery county police first

announced the arrest last night. they say he lived down the street from the vilardos. the couple found brutally stabbed to death at ridge drive home a week ago on mother's day. montgomery county police expected to hold that conference this afternoon. we're, of course following it. updates through nbc warrant app. prince george's county police looking for anyone with information about a double homicide in oxon hill. police called to aubrey lane midnight friday where they found a man with a gunshot wound. he later died in the hospital. police found a second man dead by a nearby apartment building. he had also been shot. >> firefighters working to find the cause of a deadly apartment fire in alexandria. a man died in that fire. a second person treated for serious burns. the fire broke out early yesterday morning on the third floor of an apartment building on kenmore avenue off 395. neighbors described the fire as scary. >> i was sitting in my

apartment, tv on with my wife. >> i told my husband, wake up there's a fire. fire? hurry up. >> as residents they are two of several displaced." fire officials say it could be weeks before they return to their home. >> looking to discover the cause of the crash on the parkway. five people inside the car including three children under the age of ten. those children were thrown from the car. the adult were trapped in the car and they had to pry them out. >> ntsb called in fbi, looking into the possibility the train engine or windshield may have been hit by a projectile. meanwhile federal regulators want big changes. the company asked to control speed control on the trains

where the crash happened. officials want them to reassess speed they travel around curves. am track has been told to put up more speed limit signs along their routes. taking a look now at your week ahead. monday fairfax county asking members of the public to share opinions on police practices. still have one more day to register if you would like to speak at that forum. it comes amid a nationwide conversation about police tactics. the commission has been asked to make recommendations about how fairfax police can build public trust especially when it comes to police involved incidents. the forum starts at 7:30 p.m. recommendations due october 1st. some in montgomery county getting a new fire station. it will be opening its doors tomorrow. ground breaking ceremony held for the new station in the glenmont neighborhood of silver springs. it's going to happen near the intersection of randolph and georgia avenue tomorrow at 11:00 in the morning. >> on thursday the district starts a major effort to overhaul pedestrian safety laws. councilmember mary chase

today." >> in the wake of the amtrak crash we look into america's infrastructure and where improvements need to be made. >> joining us "meet the press" moderator chuck todd. want to start with what's back in the headlines. isis we hear about one of their leaders being killed. the city of ramadi falling. is this progress against them? >> the big story is this raid into syria. the significance of it is this. number one, american on the ground intelligence is getting better in syria. this is the first successful raid. before hostage attempts have failed. the fact they are getting good information about isis that allowed them to target something. it was correct. do they wish they would have captured instead of killed him yes. they really wanted information. they didn't get him but his wife. it could be a bigger event as bad as ramadi looks in the fight against isis if you have true ria, their safe haven, does allow potential
