years. >> right now two of the officers are still hospitalized. let's get right to northern virginia bureau chief julie carey. >> reporter: well you can see exactly where this happened earlier today. police still out in front of the apartment gathering evidence some five hours later. children in this neighborhood who tell me the man who shot and killed by police was someone they both feared an steered clear of. one of those arlington officers has a severe facial cut when the man attacked him. a second man entered an injury from a taser when the police officers entered the apartment. this was the scene at the apartments shortly after the shooting as police escorted the man's elderly mother from the apartment building. the officers and the subject who was shot had already been rushed to virginia hospital center where the man was pronounced dead. a neighbor tells news4 a loud verbal argument between the man and his mother is what caused them to call 911 just before

11:00 a.m. when the officers arrived they too heard screaming and they entered in on a confrontation residents report two to three gunshots. they watched as police and medics gave first aid to the man who was shot. >> i saw them pulled up with a stretcher. i thought something really bad that happened. when they pulled him out, his arm was hanging from the side of the stretcher so i knew something bad happened. >> reporter: now the man who was shot and killed by police can today has not yet been identified. the officer who suffered the facial cut underwent surgery the other officer was expected to be treat and released for the taser injury. coming up at 5, you'll hear from the neighbor whose mom called 911 today. he'll talk about what had them so worried this morning. now reporting from arlington julie carey, news4. >> reporter: i'm erica gonzalez

we have just obtained the preliminary autopsy reports on the nine people killed in that shootout. the victims range in age from 27 to 65. each one was killed by one or more gunshot wounds. police say all nine were members of outlaw biker began gangs. jay gray is live on his shoulders. with these injuries he actually made his way out of the bathroom and out of the wreckage, out of the train into the field. then telling people to avoid the live electric wires that were all over. >> the lawsuit seeks an

murder mystery at a mansion here in the district. and we're getting some new information. >> yeah news4's pat collins back at the scene. pat, earlier today we saw investigators back at the house there. this mansion behind you going over some clues from cameras? are they gleaning new new information from those security cameras? >> reporter: well hethey have some new information but it's not good information, jim. there are a number of security cameras placed around this house but, so far, no surveillance video in the house. crime scene techs were up there today checking out those security cameras. sources tell news4 that investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspects in this case somehow disarmed the security system here. so we're not expecting any important surveillance video from the scene. >> pat, what are you hearing now about thousand the victims died? and what's next for investigators, as the interest

there are no reports of cars getting stuck. veronica joins us again, how much rain did we actually get yesterday? >> that was late yesterday with the stroj storms that came through. between 1 and 2 inches of rain we picked up. i think today any rain we get will be fairly light, other than an isolated thunderstorm that mei fire. you can see where the rain is right now, south of d.c. and making its way southeast out of the area. so some showers just a few down around southern maryland, areas of northern neck. you can see the cell around leonard town, then another one around richmond following along areas of i-64. behind it this weather front that is moving through, we are seeing some drier air move in and a fairly clear sky. there's the front, cool air behind it already making its way into western maryland, areas west virginia, out ahead of it's still hot. for your evening it's at the very least going to be quite warm and the humidity will be up there. then it slowly start to come down into the late evening hours. 87 degrees now, less humid by

plane crash in march are finally coming home. investigators in france finished identifying everyone on board that plane. evonne and emily selke were among the 150 people killed when a co-pilot intentionally lyly crashed their plane into the french alps. no definitive word on why he did it. virginia state police crews are on the scene of a plane crash in southwest virginia. the plane left the daytona beach, florida, area headed to ohio, but for some reason it crashed in virginia. no word about how many people were on board. investigators say there were no survivors. 800 people listed on maryland's sex offender registry say their rights have been violated. they just filed a class action lawsuit claiming the state retroactively increased the length of time certain offenders had to remain on the registry. the lawsuit says it's unconstitutional according to a report in the daily record.

five years ago maryland changed the registration requirements for sex offenders basing it on the type of crime they had committed. british police call the thieves audacious. today they're in custody. police arrested nine men in connection with a multimillion-dollar jewelry heist over easter weekend. security cameras show the burglars entering a building in the diamond district disguised as construction workers. they left with 70 safe deposit boxes. police made the arrests last night after raiding a dozen locations all over london. they also recovered several large bags of some of the totalen items. it happened 12 hours ago but crews are still cleaning up the mess from a fiery crash on the busy new jersey turnpike. two tractor trailers, a tour bus and a car were involve nd the crash in south jersey. one of the trucks burst into flames. fortunately, there were only a few minor injuries. but the crash shut down part of the turnpike for several hours

today triggering a massive backup. and on the west coast, 14 people are in big trouble for their role in a sophisticated marijuana smuggling ring. three of the suspects are baggage handlers at oakland international airport. they allegedly used their security badges to sneak suitcases filled with marijuana past screening areas. then they gave the luggage to people waiting to board planes. the pot was transported all over the country in carry-on bags. the group may have been in operation for nearly three years. if you're one who look likes to pay your taxes at the last minute, that minute will be three days later next year. tax day 2016 falls on april 18th. the irs says the delay comes because the district is celebrating emancipation day on april 15th. by law, local homdlidays in d.c. impact tax deadlines. the emancipation day marks the day slavery was ended in the

some better levels for tomorrow and in fact also for the rest of the week, better air quality with those lowering of the temperatures. if you're going to game nationals taking on the yankees, you're looking at a forecast from 86 degrees to 80 by seventh inning inning, nicer and nicer through the game. in fact, by last out, the temperature of 77 degrees, there may even be a little bit of wind push out of the west-northwest. could be a little bit of a breeze coming our way as we go into early tomorrow morning. 70 to 77 degrees boy, the mercury is going to come down going to be a great day to get out and do anything tomorrow. in fact, as we take a look too, at the memorial day weekend, from locations here where we're expecting our temperatures to top out in the low 80s, low to mid-80s on monday, saturday at the beach where it's 66 degrees, it's cool, nice, lots of sunshine. as we go through the memorial day holiday, we hit the mid-70s by sunday looking good, nice and warm on monday. high temperature at the beach 82 degrees. check out the water temperature

returned to their owners. so far, no arrests in that case. well she's known as the runaway bride. a new york woman charged with getting married ten times now in custody. investigators say lee on na bare yent toes married a string of men as part of an immigration scam. police issued a warrant for her arrest yesterday when she didn't show up for court. she showed up today and is now in jail on a $10,000 bond. it's one of the most congested roadways in our region. but fixing i-66 may come at a substantial cost to some area homeowners. news4's adam tuss working on this story today. he has this report from vienna. >> reporter: well, here in places like vienna and dunn lauring there's really concern about vo dot's plans to widen i-66 outside the belt quay. you see a lot of homeowners are being told that they might have to deal with a new flyover that could pop up in their front yard. others are being told they might lose their home altogether.

inside that apartment on the second story you see the police outside, was his 88-year-old mother. it was a verbal argument between the two that led police here earlier today. arlington county police tell me tonight it is not the first time they have had encounters with torres. in fact, one neighborhood boy tells me the kids around here feared the man. arlington police escorted this elderly woman from the apartment building just minutes after a man believed to be her son was shot and killed by an officer. this young neighbor whose identity we are concealing says it was his mom's 911 call that brought police here. they became fearful for the elderly woman when they heard a loud argument. >> we just heard screaming and i heard them fighting and my mom was concerned about like, something would happen. like she didn't want nobody to get hurt so she just called the po
