270 at clarksburg road, no problems there. overall, looking pretty good. the slowest spot on 95 even slower of course as the day rolls on and folks head out of town. back in ten minutes. breaking news. d.c. detectives spent the night raiding the last known address of daron wint. he's suspected in the quadruple murder of a family and their housekeeper in d.c. >> wint's house is less than three miles from where the police found the savopoulos car torched. megan mcgrath has more. megan, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning. of course a major break in this case. police have identified a suspect in this quadruple murder. they have also released three photos. take a look. police are looking for 34-year-old daron wint. he's charged with first degree murder while armed. overnight, investigators searched wint's last known address in maryland. they could be seen questioning neighbors. we are also learning about a

pizza delivery that was made to the home on may the 13th. that's the day when the savopoulos family and their housekeeper were taken captive inside the home. law enforcement officials say that dna on a pizza crust matched that of daron wint. he has a criminal record that includes charges of assault, carrying a concealed weapon and theft. nothing as serious though as murder which he's now facing. now, police believe he's no longer in the immediate area and they are asking the public's help in tracking him down. back to you all in the studio. >> megan mcgrath live in northwest d.c. here thank you for that. blood evidence from inside that home is helping investigators paint a picture of what happened there. last night, detectives used the chemical luminol to search for clues. it creates a distinctive blue glow in the presence of blood. it can help establish when and how savopouloses their 10-year-old son philip and their housekeeper veralicia figurera

were killed. so angie we know that two of the deliveries to the home are playing a role in this investigation. >> and megan touched on it a little bit. the first is that pizza delivery. that megan did mention. the second a cash drop. a source close to the family telling news4 savvas savopoulos asked that person to bring $40,000 to the home. we also learned from sources that the three adults killed in the house were found in a second floor bedroom. the adults showed signs of being beaten and stabbed. 10-year-old philip savopoulos was found in his own bedroom. his remains were so badly burned investigators have not officially identified him. and again, that new piece of information, police are naming one suspect and releasing these pictures you see on your screen. they want to find 34-year-old daron dylon wint. get a closer look at the

senate floor after more than ten hours of speaking against a controversial section of the patriot act. well he is talking about the part of the law the white house uses to justify collecting massive amounts of your phone data. it's set to expire on june 1st. that's if congress does not renew it. paul says the government should not gather data on innocent americans in the fight against terror. >> i don't think we have to be that fearful of terrorism that we have to give up who we are in the process. >> ten senators from both parties joined paul during his speech. this wasn't technically a filibuster, but it brought attention to an issue that millions of people find controversial. it's also a high profile move for paul who is running for president. now the senate is set for some tricky maneuvering as it tries to resolve this issue before it heads to break. new this morning, we now know the name of a second marine

killed in last week's osprey crash in hawaii. we are getting some video of him into our newsroom now. we'll share that with you. we're also learning more about this massive oil spill out in california. what's expected to happen there today and the state of emergency underway. taking a live look outside right now. if you're complaining about the heat the other day, you might be sorry now. meteorologist

right now a coastline in california coated with oil. there's a state of emergency in santa barbara county. crude oil pouring out of an underground pipeline there that burst. you can look at the huge black mass stretching across miles in the water here. so far, more than 100,000 gallons of oil have spilled from the pipe line. more clean-up crews will join hundreds of first responders working to fix that problem right now. red nose day is finally here. the charity fund-raising event is making its u.s. debut tonight on nbc. more than 100 of the biggest stars like will ferrell, julia roberts and more will come together to have fun. tell a few jokes. also raise a lot of money. the benefit event will help 12 charity organizations lift children out of poverty around the world. it started in england and you can watch it tonight at 8:00

breaking news now at 5:16. d.c. police need your help finding a man suspected in the quadruple murder of a murder of three and their housekeeper in the district. 34-year-old daron wint faces first degree murder charges. overnight, detectives searched his last known address. investigators say he killed the savopouloses and their son and housekeeper last thursday before he burned down their home on

woodland drive northwest. we're working to learn the names and the conditions of two people shot in waldorf. chopper 4 over the scene here at a mcdonald's where the shooting happened last night. charles county deputies say someone shot a man and a woman there. this is near the st. charlestown center mall. deputies say they have a suspect in custody right now. in fairfax county, a teenager is in custody for shooting another teenager. and officers now say the teens started to fite at the victim -- to fight at the victim's house and shot him. the 17-year-old victim is expected to survive. new this morning, we now know the name of the second marine killed after the crash afternoon a training exercise in hawaii. matthew determan died yesterday. sunday's accident involved an osprey which can fly like a helicopter or fixed wing plane. a 24-year-old marine from washington state also died.

two other marines are still in the hospital right now. prince george's ethics commission is working to find out if the domestic violence shelter is misusing funds. women say they were shocked with the lack of resources there. the complaints include poor food services and little to no transportation for doctors appointments and court appearances. >> they gave me a small ziploc bag with some toothpaste and some soap and that was it. i made my own arrangements to get my things from my abuser. >> the women say there are holes in the walls, the stove doesn't work. there's a problem with an ant infestation as well. a report has been sent to a number of county officials. maryland's governor -- >> maryland's governor expected to make a final decision on 2 -- on the purple line project in the next 24 hours. prince george's and montgomery county officials will meet with

larry hogan in las vegas today. they're getting ready for a transit battle. they're in las vegas at a convention hoping to recruit new business to the counties. well one of the biggest selling points is the purple line. the proposed new light rail line will connect the two counties. alexandria is a step closer to getting a new metro station. the city council voted in favor of the alternative "b" plan at potomac yard. it clears the next step for the design process. the mayor says the $268 million project would create 26,000 jobs and office and retail space. the station is expected to open in 2018 or early 2019. 5:19 your time now. news4 is working for your child's mental health. a new study finds the majority of youth with serious mental health issues are not getting the treatment they need. data shows fewer young people are struggling with mental health problems than two decades ago, but that means more than

half of children and teens with serious mental illnesses are lacking psychiatric care. on the other hand researchers are concerned many youth with mild impairment are receiving unnecessary medication. and new research reveals that women who are pregnant with boys are more likely to develop gestational diabetes. canadian scientists say it's because male fetuses create better metabolic changes in their mothers than females do. the group adds women who have gestational diabetes while carrying a girl are at higher risk of being diagnosed with type ii diabetes after pregnancy. you won't be able to see david letterman host the "late show" tonight. in his last episode he had a series of comedians and one football player deliver his final top ten list. what they always wanted to say to dave. >> i'm just glad your show is being given to another white guy. >> you are the comedy what i am to comedy. >> thanks for letting me take part in another hugely

application that asks the applicant if he wants to execute a suicide operation and also asks who should be contacted if the applicant becomes a martyr. bin laden also kept a copy of the book "obama's wars" by bob woodward. it was seized by u.s. special forces during the raid that killed the terror leader. today, we could learn whether police will hand down more charges against a little league umpire from fairfax county. federal officers say that don essex distributed child pornography. according to court documents he told an undercover cop he was sexually active with three of his grandchildren. he's not facing any charges for that claim right now. the president of the ft. hunt little league told us he read the charges. >> just staggering in the deviant behavior. i have never seen anything like that. >> the little league president said essex just passed a mandatory background check back

and of course the search still on. anyone with information you're asked to contact police. back to you all in the studio. >> megan, thank you. the man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in prince george's county waking up in jail this morning. police found isiah bogan in a car near his forestville home yesterday morning. he is accused of attacking the victim last week at the same apartment complex where he lived there in forestville. the name of the woman who accused jesse matthew of rape is no longer available to the public. yesterday morning, fairfax county circuit court published her name on the website. it was published in the section on the site dedicated to high profile cases and six hours later it was gone. matthew is accused of brutally beating and raping that woman. she was 26 years old at the time. any way you slice it handful of republican presidential hopefuls will be left out of the first presidential debate. and that is because fox news has decided to allow only ten

participants. here's how it will work. candidates must place in the top ten of an average of fox approved polls. around the time of the debate. around 18 people are either already running or seriously considering it. the debate is august 6th in cleveland. and for first time the former virginia delegate is publicly admitting he fathered a son with a young former staffer. morrissey told the jack gravely show quote, that chase is my boy. that's according to our news partner, wtop. he stepped down last year after the affair with the staffer came to light. she was a minor at the time. morrissey went on to win the seat back and lose it again when he moved from his district. japan's car lobby talking about the huge takata air bag recall. today, the automobile manufacturers association says he wants a report on the situation by tend of the year. and the government says the

breaking news at 5:46. daron wint is a wanted man. he is suspected in the murders of a northwest d.c. family and their housekeeper.

you see his photo right here. overnight, d.c. detectives searched wint's last known address in maryland. dna was found on the crust of a pizza delivered to the home. police believe wint has left the d.c. area. police in alexandria need your help in finding a man who lifted a 6-year-old student over a fence at lyles crouch elementary school. police were called after a teacher spotted a man lifting the young boy over a fence playground area to get a ball. after being challenged by a teacher, the man walked the boy back to the school playground. now, if you have any information, police want to hear from you. parents in loudoun county are now voicing their concerns about artificial turf. they started a petition on change.org to ban tire rubber from the county fields. the parents say that rubber has materials that can cause cancer. you can see the six high schools

that use the artificial turf in this area. there are dozens in the county as well. according to the loudoun times, parents in fairfax county are raising similar concerns there. montgomery county recently banned artificial turf. tense moments at an airport terminal. the cell phone video is in to ning. take a look. a 21-year-old man breached security at l.a.x. in los angeles. tsa ordered him to stop, but he wasn't cooperative. police told him to stop also. he still resisted. the man-made it to one of the gates you see here and got physical then with an officer. that is when police tased him. christian heinz was charged with assaulting a police officer and trespassing. unclear why he did it. he was a ticketed passenger. back to you. looking live at the u.s. capitol this morning, that's

where survivors of rape will speak out at a senate hearing on the nation's backlog of untested rape kits. according to government data there are up to 400,000 untested kits in this country. those kits contain evidence that can help identify suspects and link crimes. in 2014, virginia passed a law requiring police to account for untested kits. right now, no federal agencies require them to track the kits. a man is accused of holding his wife captive for years in vermont. police say the woman was locked in a bedroom in this house with boarded up windows and she was forced to use a bucket as a toilet. in december, with the help of family, she planned an escape. police were called to the home after reports of items being thrown from the second story window. >> you know collected evidence that was relevant to this -- to statements that were made by the victim. >> her husband pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping. he heads back to court next

week. a baltimore based insurance company tightening security after hackers gained access to a database with more than a million names in it. care first blue cross blue shield did not get any social security numbers or medical claim information. they are offering free credit monitoring to those affected. they insure 3.3 million people. health care data breaches are a growing problem in part because providers have less experience fighting hackers than retailers or banks do. d.c. getting two new ride sharing companies. san francisco based get around and d.c. start-up split are both launching this week. this is get around's first east coast location. the company offers daily rentals of local, privately owned rentals and split is an app based ride sharing company, similar to uber. it lets you catch rides with other passengers headed in the same direction.
