clinton's stint. and a ground zero hot dog vendor accused of charging $30 for his prank. why he won't be hawking hot dogs anytime soon. first off, breaking news as the murder mystery in d.c. unravels with shocking new details details. we have details on the arrest ever daron wint. >> starting with shomari stone, what do the charging documents reveal? >> reporter: well, essentially first let me just let you know that daron wint's hearing is over and he did not issue a plea. a judge ordered him to provide a dna sample. he's being held without bound and charged with felony murder while armed and more charges could come over the next month or so. the new charging documents have come out and basically they state that there was a man in the blue porsche speeding through d.c. with short hair. now, we don't know if that is daron wint but keep in mind investigators are looking into

that. also, we found out that, according to the court documents, sofauf love lus' assistant gave discrepancies in the case. they're investigating that. also on page 10 it states that the savopoulos family was held by mr. wint and, quote, others. we don't know who others are right now. homicide detectives are also looking into that. keep in mind last night when mr. wint was arrested -- actually, we have -- no okay. that was the spokesperson for the u.s. state attorney's office. the u.s. attorney is expected to come right out here anytime now to these microphones and he's supposed to talk and give a brief statement. he's not going to go into detail about the case because of course, it is still under investigation. back to you. >> shomari stone, we'll get back to show mary momentarily. the family's housekeeper is being remembered today. team coverage continues now with

news4 ace megan fitzgerald who's outside the savopoulos home today whaxt have you learned ♪ >> reporter: we know there were two viewing services for vera figueroa one of the four tragically killed in the mansion behind me. that took place in silver spring, first one wrapped up about ten minutes ago. the other is expected to start around 7:00 tonight and end around 9:00. now, just before the viewing started, family and friends could be seen walking inside and outside -- >> megan we hate to cut you off, but vincent cohen acting u.s. attorney is at the podium right now. >> let's listen in. >> today 34-year-old daron wint appeared in d.c. superior court to face a charge of first degree murder while armed in connection with the tragic deaths that occurred at the savopoulos family residence late last week. we unsealed the arrest warrant

today, and we intend to unseal additional search warrants in the coming days. we'd like to take this opportunity to thank the local and federal law enforcement partners for their tireless work in investigating and apprehending mr. wint in this case. though mr. wint is now incarcerated and he's held without bond, our work is not done. we will continue to investigate this case and bring all charges that are appropriate in the coming weeks. the residents of the district of columbia grieve with the sa savopoulos and figueroa families and we at the u.s. attorney's office will use the full force of the law to make sure justice is served in this matter. thank you very much. >> acting u.s. attorney vincent cohen jr. for the district of columbia speaking about the charges now facing 34-year-old daron wint. he says additional search warrants are expected to be

unsealed in the days to come. the state's attorney's work is not done. >> no, i think that was the big thing. they're going to unseal more warpts and we may get more information. we cut off megan fitzgerald who was talking about the family's housekeeper who is being remembered at a memorial service today. let's go back live to megan. megan, can you finish up what you were saying in terms of that aspect of this case. >> reporter: absolutely chris. so we know there were two viewing services that were scheduled for today in silver spring. one just wrapped up about ten anyones ago, the other is expected to start at 7:00 to 9:00. we want to get to video we shot earlier. as we were saying just before the viewing started family and friends could be seen walking inside. among those who were at the service was nellie, vera's boss and longtime housekeeper for the savopoulos family. a source close to the family says vera resist colleagues from the cleaning company she worked with as well as her husband and his children were in attendance. a close friend of vera's says

back to you inside. have you been swimming yet? >> i've been at the beach. >> have you been swim something. >> and i'm not shy. >> because the water temperatures are still too cold. veronica, how cold are the water temperatures right now? >> they're too cold. they're in the 60s, but for the bay temp i think we'll do a little better as we goat into the holiday weekend. certainly monday could be close to 70 degrees. >> this is normal for late spring. >> exactly, really. that's average. but a lot of folks are kind of shy sometimes about sticking their toes in the water when it's too chilly. they're like, huh-uh, i'm not going in there. right now 65 degrees that water temperature for ocean city. we've got a lot more folks coming up from ocean city with meteorologist doug kammerer throughout the 5:00 and 6:00 hours so stick around. 78 degrees right now in d.c. little cooler to the north, gaithersburg, areas like sandy spring, 72 and 72 in waldorf. the 73 degree temperature doug was talking about in ocean city right there with the wind from

land to ocean so it's a west wind. you can hear it at 14 miles per hour. we've had slightly higher gusts from 78 degrees your temperature. if you mrap on going out this evening, the wind will settle down and we'll head on down to the mid-60s by 9:00. a mostly clear sky. what we're getting right now is just a few clouds it from a little weak weather system coming through the area. it's right up here just shy of state college on the south side. it will make its way in producing clouds. doubt we have any sprinkles coming with that front. one thing is for sure on the other side of it, even cooler air. now, i don't know about you, but my kids were running around the house this morning going, i'm cold. come on it's not cold. off to the west hagerstown is tipping into the 30s by early toernl morning, 36 hagerstown, 39 luray, tlefbrn in cumberland. in that area we could see patchy frost. national weather service has issued a frost advisory mid night to 9:00 a.m. saturday right here western maryland, just on the west side of i-81 from areas like mountain lake

new developments today in the story we reported on wednesday, that hot dog vendor accused of gouging tourists in new york is now in hot water. he was accused of charging tourists as much as 30 bucks for a hot dog and a soda. nbc's jeff rossen went undercover to check this out. >> reporter: it's a new york staple. >> classic. >> reporter: hot dogs from the cart. but wnbc's melissa russo got a hot tip, complaints that this hot dog vendor is gouging tourists near ground zero. his cart is just under the new freedom tower. i send in my producer kevin undercover to buy a hot dog. >> hot dog with mustard. how much? >> reporter: 3 bucks. but he's a new yorker. watch what happen whz this man with a french accent walks up.

seventh street. they knock td down pretty quickly. no one was injured. president obama is trying to move that he can be both critic and friend to israel. and today he did something few presidents have done to mend his relationship with the american jewish community. the president went before an audience at congregation adas israel to speak out against the rise in anti-semitism around the world and reiterated his feelings about a palestinian state. >> i feel a responsibility to speak out honestly about what i think will lead to long-term security and to the preservation of a true democracy in the jewish homeland. and i believe that's two states for two people. >> only three u.s. presidents have spoken before an audience at an american synagogue. senate lawmakers rarely work over the memorial day weekend, but they're set to vote tomorrow on a crucial bill that could change the way the nsa collects

manufacture. that cruise ship that got stuck on a reef near bermuda is back in port. the norwegian dawn with theorily 3500 passengers and crew was stuck on the reef for about six hours tuesday until a rising tide pushed it deeper into the

water. inspectors found the ship to be safe. passengers will now get a 15% credit on a future cruise. summer vacation is getting close, and while students have certainly earned a break from the books education experts have a warning about too much time in front of the screen. >> no one is saying take away the tvs and tablets but there are ways parents can establish a healthy media diet. here's nbc's mark barger. >> reporter: getting kids to disengage with smartphones and tablets can be a challenge for parents. but experts say tech moderation is important. >> a healthy media diet matters for all kids, particularly what they're young. it can impact brain development. >> reporter: the american academy of pediatrics discourages screen time for children under age 2 and advises limiting daily screen time to one to two hours a day for older kids. they suggest there are clear limits and stick to them. verizon offers tools to help parents monitor device usage. >> family base is a safe guard

humidity also reasonable. look at your evening planner forecast here, 78 the temperature. no, we don't have a cloudy sky. i am tracking a few clouds forecast from yesterday. but, boy, the beach locations are really looking great. that water temperature is at 61 degrees. let's head out to meteorologist doug kammerer because he's got more on what we can expect there throughout the weekend. doug? >> reporter: yeah, that water temperature 61 degrees, i saw a lot of people at the beach a little bit earlier, but there were not a whole lot going nooer the water. they're just getting the tan. bright blue sun, it is amazing today as far as the weather is concerned. all of it is because of that westerly wind we've got. that wind brings in some of the heat that comes off the land. now, tomorrow it's going to be a little different. we'll see some cooler numbers, high temperatures tomorrow only in the mid to low 60 frz. right now the boardwalk, a lot of people are down there. we'll continue to see the people increase throughout the afternoon as we move on through. now, what we've got as far as temperatures go, you notice that 66 tomorrow but notice sunday

and monday. that's when we're going too see our temperatures begin to go up. the reason? that wind direction. tomorrow's wind out of the north a little bit off the water, will make things a little cooler for saturday. make sure you have the sweatshirt on. but by sunday into monday, simply gorgeous weather down here. 74 on sunday and temperatures into the low 80s during the day on monday with a little bit of a southwest wind. so, again it's going to be fantastic. now, one thing i have noticed with all the people who are down here, there's not a whole lot of kids just yet. we've got some kids coming in right now. but not a lot just yet because they just got out of school one to two hours ago. i guarantee you traffic will be increasing for sure. not a lot of kids right now in sportland, my favorite by the way is funland right down there. it's actually all the way down the boardwalk. there it is. funland. playland is fine, but if you're going to come, sportland, playland, then funland, the one we always go to. i still have coins from last year i'll be using coming up in a little bit. also in a little bit guys, i'm getting thrashers french fries i know that.

through sunday and even monday the way it's looking now. high temperature 71 degrees in gaithersburg tomorrow, 73 in d.c., waldorf at 73 for a high temperature. notice the 60s there near the water. that's easton and cambridge 67 degrees in cambridge, 69 in luray little cooler toward the mountains, too. but again, sunshine throughout the area tomorrow. it's going to be mild as high pressure once again takes over. now, here is a look at your sunday planner forecast before we get into the details of memorial day. there will be some high clouds so i think it's filtered sunshine for sunday, temperature at 7:00 a.m. 58 degrees by lunchtime, noon, 74. as we get into 4:00, 5:00, 82 degrees for sunday. monday some higher temperatures, and of course tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday of next week, 90 to 92 degrees with that heat index running just over 95. maybe even a little higher for one of these days.

each day next week looks as though we will have some afternoon thunderstorms and likely some poor air quality, too coming our way next week. here it is saturday's high temperature 73 82 on sunday, nice conditions here. then memorial day 88 for a high temperature. yes great conditions expected, hot, a little hupd. plenty of sunshine, though. still a great afternoon to get out. for next week, again, each day next week 90 degrees and above with an afternoon chance of thunderstorms each day. that may change as we get a little later into the week. but it looks as if it's our first heat wave of the year building. certainly a good area to be the beach or maybe even just here inland locations. it will be very nice and comfortable. guys, back to you. >> thanks. a landslide hit their neighborhood last spring, and in just a few weeks crews are set to tear down condemned homes in ft. washington. but as tracee wilkins reports some residents are fighting that plan, claiming fema is leaving them with a big pile of debt.

>> reporter: five of the homes impacted by the slope failure in ft. washington were deemed uninhabitable last year. county agreed to pay for those homes with county and fema money. but now homeowners say that money is not covering their full mortgage leaving them with thousands to pay and no financial help with finding a new house. apparently a conversation to negotiate a larger payout fell through yesterday. according to residents, the county is now saying take the fema money or get nothing and we'll acquire your home through what's called police power. it's an interesting problem that doesn't seem to be going away. we'll have more kmrusive details coming up on news4 at 5 and 6. in ft. washington i'm tracee wilkins, news4. dreams of a cherished yearbook quickly shattered. >> i went in there monday thinking, yay it's here. >> a teenager wants to know why a moment that should have been a high school highlight was ruined.
