pumping gas in riverdale. pris george officials say he caught fire this afternoon. a bistander jumped in and extingished be flames and was badly burned. he was rushed to the hospital where he later died. police and firefighters are investigating what happened. we're still enjoying great

that we have. >> reporter: thousands of veterans in town for the rolling thunder. tomorrow we have the memorial day parade. back to you. ♪ oh say can you see ♪ ♪ by the dawn's early light ♪ >> the memorial day concert just wrapped up on the memorial mall. both men have dedicated a big chunk of their careers to help veterans. concern about a suspicious vehicle is over. the station wagon in the center of the screen was near madison. they closed nearby roads and asked people inside nearby museums to leave on the opposite sides of the buildings. they found nothing suspicious in the car and all the roads have reopened.

crash investigators say speed had something to do with a crash. the impact made him fly off his bike and careen into a small group of children. the biker hit a man. he may not survive. santos was 7 years old. the spokesperson says the community is deeply saddened by the loss. holiday fishing trip cost man his life after he drowned in chesapeake beach. he was from new carrollton and was on the boat with four friends near the mouth of fishing creek. their small boat started sinking on water and capsized. santos died lartter at the hospital. oh my god.

stop. stop. >> in texas panic biystanders try to krosh a flooded street as it turned into a river. some got him out of there. the current flipped the truck on its roof. other than being badly shaken he's okay. some of the flood waters have destroyed hundreds of homes in texas and oklahoma and right now more than 1,000 people are spending the night in shelters. the storms are responsible for one death and as gabe gutierrez reports it isn't over yet. >> reporter: it's being called historic and catastrophic. the blanc river 27 feet above flood stages are destroying homes. hundreds of homes are under water in hays county, texas where rescue is underway. there's been one death.

>> if you're forced to go to the roof of your home take something white. >> reporter: the rushing water so powerful this suv was swept away. >> we hasn't seen water this deep come up this fast ever. >> reporter: in houston an ef-1 tornado ripped the roof off this apartment complex sending two people to the hospital. another twister was confirmed near dallas damage traffic lights and garages. >> a lot of street lamps down. the sign went down to the ground. >> reporter: in oklahoma 20-year veteran firefighter captain john far lee was killed over night swept away by high water. >> he was not just a good man for there community and his family and this department but he was a good man for firefighters across the nation. >> reporter: the severe weather ripped through the wright family's home. the up stair room collapsed into the den. thankfully everyone survived. >> the water came up to here? >> yeah. >> that's about five feet.

>> correct. >> reporter: back in texas she's assessing the damage after she and her husband barely escaped the rising waters. tonight she and her neighbors are bracing for more rain. >> we're anticipating additional rain in the next 48 hours. certainly as was mentioned a while ago if you do not need to be out of your homes and had an opportunity to get to a relative's home friends's home or one of our evacuation facilities stay there. the waters are beginning to recede, it's still dangerous. we're learning about the break news in maryland. fire crews are at an industrial building. there's been an explosion at the building and a partial collapse. the branchville volunteer fire department tweeted this picture and say this started when two vacuum pumps failed. no one was inside the building. we're working to get more details and bring them to you tomorrow morning on news 4 today. when it comes to targeting

new at 11:00, a protest against arctic drilling seems to be losing steam. there were two people chained to this ship in seattle, but one of them has given up. the ship is part of a fleet that will help shell oil companies search for oil but the protesters want the exploration stopped. they're concerned about oil spills and the pristine arctic region and about the effect of global warming. the engines were revving at the rolling thunder ride for freedom. the motorcycle ride brings hundreds of thousands of bikers and visitors to our area. derek ward has more on what made this ride special.

warmer. high of 87 in washington. 80 for those of you in annapolis and 86 degrees for a high temperature in leesburg. plenty of sunshine. i think the best part about tomorrow eets tomorrow's weather will be the breeze during the afternoon. temperatures in the suburbs at 2:00 p.m. in the low 80s. you can see plenty of sunshine. 4:00 p.m. we're still looking at temperatures comfortably in the mid-80s. 6:00 tomorrow evening maybe you're doing the barbecue just hanging out out doors with family before they leave. temperatures in the low to mid-80s across the area. no rain or storms in the forecast at all tomorrow. not the case for some of you on tuesday. we'll start off with sunshine

here's a story that will make most of us feel out of shape. jonathan is in second grade and he just broke a record for the most pull ups by an elementary school student. the old record was 41. holy cow. he did 53 pull ups in a row. he may be enjoying the record now but the record may be broken by the kid he eats breakfast with his little brother. he's only in kindergarten. he can already do 25. >> looks like someone is holding
