were swept away because of flash floods. a texas lake is almost totally empty after a dam burst due to heavy rains. the damn gave way late yesterday and people were told to get to higher ground. d.c. police investigating the district's fourth shooting in less than two days. this happened last night near the kennedy rec under near o street in northwest. police say the shooter was last seen riding a dirt bike. we're learning more about the three family members murdered in their home in northwest d.c. relatives of savvas savopoulos and amy and ten-year-old phillip put out an obituary for them. family remembers amy savopoulos as a giving mother who loved to travel. the obituary says phillip loved racing and math. police charged 34-year-old darron wint with murder in this case. a new report says he paid a taxi

driver $1,000 to drive him from brooklyn to d.c. before he was arrested. we scoured court documents that say one of savopoulos's assistants lied to police. the savopoulos close friends and family say that they have not seen that assistant since the killing happened. the maryland couple accused of child neglect for letting their two young children walk home have been cleared in one case. they told "the washington post" the parents were cleared in one chase case by child protective services. they are still under investigation for letting their six and ten-year-olds walking home alone in april. they believe in the free range kids movement. the case received national attention sparking debate about parenting choices. larry hogan departs for a 12-day trip to asia.

now at 6:15. delays on the iner loop in prince george's county are more than 2.5 miles and growing quickly. take a look at the scene here. a tractor-trailer hit and killed a woman on the beltway. 4:00 thork. there are two lanes on the inner loop near the bw parkway have been closed ever since that accident creating delays. melissa is keeping a close eye on this. she will tell you what you can expect when you hit the road in just minutes at 6:21. the fbi looking for a single person believed to be threatening self flights the fbi flagged at least ten international flights heading into jfk and newark liberty airports yesterday. the agency says someone claimed that those planes had chemical weapboard. the person called several local police agencies. you can see a huge group of agents police firefighters responding to at least one air france flight.

agents said the threats were all false alarms. six months and not a single change following that plane crash that killed six people in kbathers -- investigaterings -- gaithersburg last december. they explored cutting flights and they learned they would lose millions in federal grant money if that happened. neighbors are worried about their safety. >> who is going to be next. it's not a matter of if. it's a matter of when. . the plane crash killed a mother and two children in their home in gaithersburg. three other people died on that plane. a man who caused a security scare on the national mall is apologizing. he says the whole thing was a misunderstanding misunderstanding. on sunday capitol police officers spotted what looked like a pressure cooker and a propane tank in a car.

unarmed man and woman. right before the report came out, a cleveland police officer shot and killed a 12-year-old boy. he was playing with a toy gun. 6:19 a 17-year-old marylander is on the road to recovery. turan caudle was shot in the head in january. doctors removed half of his skull. his mother drives him every day for rehabilitation. he can only respond with one-word answers with the help of his mother. >> how does it feel to be home? does it feel good to be home? >> huh? >> does it feel good to be home? >> yes. yes. >> her friend opened a go fund me account called prayers for turan to help with all the medical costs. a 16-year-old friend shot him and another friend over an argument over a video game. the suspect turned the gun on

himself and all three survived. the three played for the high school football team. domestic charges against for an nfl football player. police arrested ray mcdonald yesterday. he assaulted a woman holding a baby. chicago bears release ds him. he is out of jail right now two of b.b. king's daughters say the music legend was poisoned. two of his assistants gave him medication to induce diabetic shock. the coroner blamed a decades long battle with diabetes for his death. three children were swept away by winds while playing inside a bounce house. this happened yesterday on a ft. lauderdale beach.

semitruck. here's a live look at the scene right now. you can see two lanes are blocked right now. traffic moving very slowly on the two left lanes. first 4 traffic is here with how you can get around these problems. >> this is just nasty this morning. inner loop around bw parkway is where the falts accident. you can see we have two right lanes blocked here. about 3 1/2 backup as you try and get your way around this on the left side of the roadway because of those closures. right now, first 4 be traffic tracker son the beltway getting on to the inner loop of the beltway. quite slow getting some delays because of the problem on the beltway. this is the other issue, outer loop here at route 50. you can see that crash off to the right side of the roadway. those three lanes getting back. 3 1/2 mile backup on the outer loop. no other issues right now. you can see the slow downs in the right corner of your screen.

gaithersburg there is an opportunity we could get a shower in the metro as well. as we head into summer pool safety is something many parents have to think about. memorial day almost turned tragic for one rockville family when their seven-year-old nearly drowned. reform j. nelson was at a community pool with his parents and others at a community pool in rockville. a man pulled him out and a nurse started cpr. >> he wasn't breathing and he had very little of a pulse, so we started chest compressions and he brought up a considerable amount of water and food. >> nelson's family says the boy does know how to swim but he blacked out after going under the water. r.j. is expected to be okay. three people are recovering this morning after a grill fire in montgomery county. this happened yesterday afternoon on ban tri way in

olney. a propane tank caught fire. paramedics took two adults and one child to the hospital. we're told they have minor burns. a cracked pipeline along the california coast could be removed as early as today. plains all american pipeline owns it. 101,000 gallons of oil spilled into the water. crews are still trying to remove the oil slick from the ocean there. it killed several wildlife. turning to the race for the white house now at 6:34. presidential candidate bernie sanders says the pundits shouldn't under estimate him as he takes on hillary clinton. he officially kicks off his campaign in vermont. he wants to ignite a grassroots fire with democrats who might be

and we have another one on this beltway. alternates if you want to try coles vil is something to think about. outer loom alternate there, central avenue to bw parkway. travel time wise we're actually looking pretty good in other areas around town. 95 north quantico looking pretty good. we're talking about the drive, you might see a little more savings in your pocket book. aaa expects gas prices reached their peak over the memorial day week. the auto club predicts prices could slowly drop. aaa reporting the average for regular in the district is 282 a gallon. in maryland it's $2.70 right

also have a problem on the outer loop approaching 50. four mile backups in each direction. going to have much more on these backups and issue coming up in a couple of minutes. we continue that team coverage on that breaking news on the beltway. two lanes shut down after that deadly accident. megan mcgrath is live on the scene. >> reporter: on the medical examiner finished up just a little while ago and has left the scene. we have scene some improvement in terms of the lane closures. state highway within the last ten minutes or so din reopen one lane of traffic. we have the far right lane closed. at one point, we had two lanes closed. now it's just that far right lane as they complete their investigation here. this was a fatal pedestrian accident that happened very early this morning. a woman for whatever reason was along the side of the road was hit by a tractor-trailer. that driver of the tractor-trailer did stay on the

to be a very summer-like pattern. these temperatures are much more typical of late july than late may so get used to summer. it comes early and it never seems to leave early. >> today, the battle over a possible 15% property tax increase in prince george's county will heat up. parents and teachers are holding a news conference to call for that increase and that's because the extra money would go to education. the tax increase would cost the owner of a $200,000 home about $300 a year more. prince george's county council votes on that proposal on thursday. the district's summer youth jobs program is expanding. later this morning, d.c. mayor will sign a bill into law expanding that program. it's named after the late marion s. barry. it offers 1,000 jobs for six weeks. it happens at 10:00 this morning.
