the memorial bridge thank you. d.c.'s delegates are call for more money to make sure the roads you drive are safe. they say the latest closures are the latest evidence of federal neglect. on monday there will be a news conference on the memorial bridge to talk about federal funding. president obama has two days to sign a bill that would putn the infrastructure projects. a man will be sentenced for arson and shooting at slifr deputies in prince georges county. david coley set fire to his house after being told to sell it in a divorce settlement last ma. deputies were serving an evection notice on coley when he fired several shots at them from inside the house. in another courtroom, a substitute teacher will be sentenced for child sex abuse.

jose peneda pled guilty to inappropriately touching for girls at three separate middle schools. the abuse dated back as far as 2004. four minutes after the hour now. d.c. place say somebody targeted to men. about 8:45 yesterday morning. pedro alvarado and his brother-in-law were on their way to work when someone opened fire on the suv. the alvarado family says they can't imagine why somebody would do this. police want to speak to anybody who may have seen anything. >> happening now, fifa's presidential election. soccer's international governing body is going ahead with the

vote today in the middle of a major corruption scandal. federal authorities tell nbc news more charges are come. incumbent seth blatter is running for a fifth term. fifa officials and world leaders have called for him to step aside. he refuses, but said he has no idea what to do. swiss authorities announced a criminal investigation into the awarding of the next two world cups to russia and qatar. in new court documents, federal prosecutors say former virginia first lady march union mcdonnell's corruption conviction should be upheld. they go on today. mcdonnell has a fundamental misunderstanding of bribery law. mcdonnell and former governor bob mcdonnell were convicted of trading political influence from lawyers and friends.

the coast guard is helping to evacuate a small island in japan. it started spewing black clouds and ash about eight hours ago. the small island has 137 residents. they're all waiting at an evacuation facility to be recused. if you have time this afternoon, you might want to take your kids to the park in gaithersburg after school. montgomery county is hosting a free water safety day there. there will be lifeguard demonstration sessions to teach

his condition is not known this morning. we should find out whether seven miles of southern california beaches will reopen this morning. those beaches closed after a mysterious oily goo sort of washed up on shore there. this as the tarry substance started showing up on wednesday. crews say it may not be from the recent oil spill in that area. health officials want to make sure all the tar is removed. honda, ford, bmg are adding cars to the faulty air bag recalls. the government is trying to make it easier for you to get information. you can use an ongone database to get specific information about your car. you can see whether you're specific car is involved in that recall. head to safercar.gov/vin and

here are travel times when you head out and about this morning. there are some unhappy people in prince georges county this morning. the county faces its first property tax hike in 35 years. but there are a lot of people in the county who don't think it goes high enough. >> we want to try and give you a clear picture of where your money is actually going. so tea a look at this. the 4% property tax increase plus the 1% telecommunications tax will pay for state mandated teacher pension costs. this is a mandated expense not covered by the state and so the county has to foot the bill. all of this will generate about $34 million for schools to cover this particular expense.

now this is a big blow to what the county executive and the head of schools have been campaigning for, the 15.6 the original tax increase request that was push hard for and it doesn't cover any of the other pressing needs in the public schools, including teacher training bringing competitive salaries to the county. smaller classes and, of course adding pre-k. the county council flat outrejected the request for tens of millions more saying county taxpayers could not afford it. that is the late eft. back to you. >> molette, thank you. police say the man that robbed a dozen banks and set off a search that sxaned several jurisdictions has been indicted.

the outer loop of the beltway, we have an accident there. two left lanes are shut down there. we have heavy delays. looking at 2.3 miles on the outer loop in prince georges county at branch avenue. elsewhere, 66 eastbound before nuttily street an accident there on the shoulder. seeing some delays in the area 95 north headed up towards the beltway. then 270 attel faes road looking good. if you love to fish but don't have a license, you'll have one weekend to get out there and catch all you can. the virginia resources commission is holding a free fishing weekend. it is next weekend, june 5th through 7. you'll be able to fish for fresh water and saltwater fish but licenses will still be required

coming up. and good news the outer branch of the beltway, all lanes have been opened. that earlier crash has been moved to the shoulder. now to the other traffic alert, it's 6:46. right now, the right lanes in each direction on the arlington memorial bridge are shut down. there are new weight and pep restrictions. megan is live on the d.c. side of the bridge with why these lane closures are happening. megan. >> aaron, another inspection another problem found and now another lane closure on the memorial bridge. down two lanes on this very heavily used bridge. not good for the traffic situation. last week they closed the outbound curb lane on the memorial bridge after a routine inspection found problems with corrosion. well a further inspection has raised more concerns this time about a secondary support beam. so they have closed the other curb lane on the inbound side. so both of those right hand lanes, unbound and outbound
