sexually abused a student on 19th street. they arrested pena and charged him with second degree assault. he was removed as soon as they learned of the situation. prince george's county police know little about who stabbed a man in district heights. that happened on walters lane last night. and the man went to the nearby state police barracks for help. he later died at the hospital. police are offering an award for any information. the family plans to take legal action after their loved one collapsed and died outside the firehouse. mills' family will release details. he suffered a heart attack in january of 2014. despite repeated attempts from family members to get help, firefighters across the street at engine 26 failed to respond. one firefighter has been fired. a middle school in alexandria is open today. we are learning that the air conditioning is now working. the school will return to a

60s. then by mid afternoon to late afternoon, only reaching the low to mid 60s. quite a dramatic change from what we have seen just a couple of days ago. next weather and traffic on the 1s, your bus stop forecast for this wednesday morning. now melissa has a look at the problem on 395. >> this is our biggest problem of the morning at least for the next 40 minutes or so. take a look at 395 at seminary road, this is inbound. not a typical delay we see here. a one-mile backup blocking three lanes because of construction. people have to take the access road around this. so again, very slow. also outbound three lanes blocked until 5:00 this morning, not seeing the same amount of delays or volume there. kristin wright at the fire on rigs there in northwest, 16th street between "r" and "s" that's shut down this morning. 29 95, b.w. parkway, everything looking quite good there.

and shady grove road, a little sheen, a little wet in some spots but moving along just fine. back in ten minutes. hi it's angie goff here at the live desk. more divers are headed to the yangtze river as hope dims for the 400 people trapped as the cruise ship overturned. 14 people were rescued, 19 are confirmed dead. so a total of 33 recovered so far. journalists were recently taken close to the wreck site and you can see the capsized hull just jetting out of the water. a lot of people on top of it. as it stands right now, this could become the deadliest chinese maritime disaster in decades. 4:33 now. a massachusetts man is under arrest in connection with a terrorism investigation. this comes the same day that police shot and killed 26-year-old rahim. nbc news is worried that he was considered an isis inspired attack on boston police.

when they went to speak to him they say he lunged at them with a knife so they shot him. in about 15 minutes tracie potts has a look at the widening investigation and questions about what happened when he was shot. you can take part in the special vigil to honor a reporter who was killed in washington. charnice milton wrote for the hill rag and east of the river newspapers. she died in a shoot-out in washington last week. today, you can remember her at a silent vigil on alabama avenue. one of his co-workers talked to jackie jackie bensen. >> she told the stories of a meetings that a lot of us don't want to go to. stuff that it's very important. >> police say milton was an innocent bystander. they say a shooter used her as a human shield. if you want to go to tonight's vigil it's at the washington seniors wellness center. that's at alabama and 30th streets. the vigil starts at 7:30 and

organizers said you should arrive by 7:15. they told us participants will join hands. we're told that no one was hurt in the fire in northeast washington. smoke filled the apartment building on staples street northeast last night. that's in the trinidad neighborhood. the firefighters union said the fire made it into the second story walls and floor. it's not clear how much damage it caused though and in bethesda a high rise has a few thousand dollars in damage to clean up today. montgomery county firefighters say a trash compactor caught fire at the riviera house on east west highway. dozens had to be evacuated from the building last night. the fire did $2,000 in damage. the group behind a scientology linked drug rehabilitation center could soon take frederick county to court. narc anon wants to build a new

retreat and it's close to camp david. yesterday, it was rejected to build the center there and it hinged on the property being designated as historic. the 6-1 vote sends a message. >> with having a 6-1 vote that does show some precedents that the public doesn't want this here. >> trout run at one point doubled as camp david on "the west wing." there was a disagreement brewing over an intersection in virginia. culpepper supervisors opposed vdot's new plan to make 29 at mountain run lake road more safe. vdot wants to put an r-cut traffic pattern on 29. drivers would have to go the wrong way on that road and then make a u turn. the traffic light would be safer even though it's more expensive. and frederick, maryland, wants improvements to the trail. city leaders saider this not

three people recovering today after an amtrak train sliced a car in half. that train hit the car as it drove around the crossing arm on to the tracks. this in jacksonville, florida. one person was ejected from the car. you see it right there. two other people were hurt. but they're expected to be okay. that train was carrying more than 100 passengers. they were not hurt. a teacher in minneapolis is facing some unhappy parents after taking students to an adult shop. according to our news partner, wtop the sex education teacher took several middle and high school students on the field trip. she said it was for students to learn about human sexual behavior. the students attended an educational workshop while at the store. two children are no longer attending the school as their parents say the trip was a major breach of trust. the teacher says she didn't communicate well enough before the trip with the children.

losing clout and billions in sponsor dollars are at stake. women's world cup kicks off on saturday. right now, a massachusetts man is in police custody as part of a terror investigation. another man has been killed. and police say at least one of the men may have been plotting an isis inspired plot here in the u.s. tracie potts has the latest on all this. >> reporter: good morning. let's start with the latest senior law enforcement officials tell nbc that the latest arrest the man they have yet to identify but was seen on camera is in fact connected to the same terror investigation where we saw the death yesterday. here's what's happening. authorities had been tracking this man for a while, for quite a while. 24/7. usaama rahim shot and killed yesterday, they approached him to question him without a warrant. no arrest warrant. they wanted to talk to him because they believed he was very close within days of planning an attack on boston police. this happened outside a local

store. when he approached -- when he was approached he pulled a knife authorities say. a large military-style knife. threatened the officers. they shot and killed him there on the spot. they believe he was inspired by isis social media and that that threats to boston police was imminent. now, authorities are trying to figure out if anyone else was involved. hence the second arrest or the arrest that came later in the day. we're still waiting to get more information on that but was understand that suspect could face federal terror charges as early as today. >> tracie potts on capitol hill thank you. it's 13 before the hour now. we're staying on top of the breaking news in the district. we have just learned that six people are hurt including two firefighters in a row house fire on rigs place northwest near 16th street. the fire is out now. >> news4's kristin wright is gathering information. a maryland woman is dead

after she received butt injections. police are looking for the woman who gave her those injections. police say 34-year-old kelly mayhew travelled to queens new york, to enlarge her butt. she liked to pose in pictures on her facebook page. she died last saturday. "the new york daily news" reports a woman gave mayhew silicone injections and then kelly had trouble breathing. kelly's mother was with her at the time and gave her cpr. she took her to the hospital where she died. the woman who gave her those injections drove away. dr. rondi walker is a board certified plastic surgeon. she said some people choose black market plastic surgery because it's cheaper. >> just because somebody advertises something as less expensive it may not be the real thing and it's important to go to someone who is board certified. >> mayhew worked as a platform. there was a similar case in

prince george's county. a grand jury indicted vinnie taylor for murder back in january. he gave a woman butt injections and that woman later became ill and checked herself into the hospital where she died. this happened nearly a year ago. detectives never found evidence that taylor had any medical training. the woman's death was ruled a homicide. 11 before the hour now. more anti-semitic fliers are turning up. they were left at homes near the virginia hospital center and fliers were found in front of the emergency room entrance. similar fliers have been reported in alexandria, and in neighborhoods in northwest d.c. just into the newsroom rather with a name like d.c. united you would think the team would stay in the district but now virginia governor terry mcauliffe is trying to lure the team into northern virginia. >> that's according to our news partner wtop. it's sure to give d.c. council

some problems. d.c. has approved plans for a $150 million stadium in the district and nearly half of the teams' fans live in northern virginia and about a quarter here in washington. new this morning, republican governor from louisiana, bobby jindal will make a major announcement about his 2016 plans later this month. he is expected to speak in new orleans on june 24th. he has already made frequent visits to key primary states and launched a presidential exploratory poll. he is polling only at 1% support. and today, a one-time republican is expected to announce a run for the democratic nomination for president. former u.s. senator and rhode island governor lincoln chafee started in the gop and then became independent and then a democrat. he will announce his plans at george mason university today.

hillary clinton will be the main attraction at george mason. she'll attend the dinner and tickets are $30 for seating without a meal and $125 for floor seating with dinner. the dinner is set for june 26th. well we learned the centers for disease control plans to shut down all shipments of anthrax across the country. the action comes after the cdc discovered it mistakenly sent a batch of live spores. a sample at a private research lab in maryland was the only one to test positive for anthrax. the cdc says an eradication process failed to kill the spores and the agency is working to learn why that happened. 4:51. i skipped the umbrella yesterday, but i need it this morning. >> it was pouring in some parts. >> did you bring the giant orange umbrella you have? >> i had to give it back. >> oh no. >> they won't let me have it. >> i thought that was one of the

>> a man accused of jumping the white house fence carrying a knife may face nearly two years in prison. omar gonzalez made it all the way into the east room. they have requested that sentence and sentencing for gonzalez is set for monday. his attorney wants it delayed though. he's a u.s. army veteran who was arrested inside the white house last september. the smithsonian takes action. the institution issued a reminder to its employees to obey no parking signs. they did so the day after our report showed a smithsonian vehicle illegally parked in a busy food truck zone in d.c. the driver was a woman who refused to tell the i-team why she parked there last month. food truck operators say federal vehicles park illegally in their designated spaces. a parking attendant is not allowed to ticket or have the federal vehicles towed. if you want your children to attend full day kindergarten in loudoun county you have to

enter a lottery. loudoun county is expanding the full day program in the fall. 59 students will be added to the program at 11 schools. you can find the application on the nbc washington app by searching kindergarten lottery. the drawings will take place june 25th. right now only low income students and those who speak limited english are eligible for full day kindergarten. if you live in the district you're among the most well read in the nation. the district comes in at number five in the nation. when it comes to printed publications washingtonians take the number one spot. amazon compiles the list using sales data from print and electronic sales. seattle is the most well read in the nation. i'm going to tweet that and ask you what your favorite books are, because i love reading. i don't have that much time anymore. >> a lot of people read like newspaper after newspaper after
