to figure out what started a deadly rowhouse fire. they want to know whether the smoke detectors were working in the three story house. meanwhile we are learning the name of one of the people killed. 24-year-old michael patrick mcloughlin died in the fire on riggs place northwest early wednesday morning. a second person also died but that person's name has not been released. rescue officials say a cliff diver who jumped into the potomac river may be dead. two divers went into the river near sandy landing in great falls park in virginia. one man got out okay. the second map was caught up in -- man was caught up in the strong current and disappeared. the search will continue for his body. we can find out if a former teacher of the year who admits he sexually abused his student will be free on bond. giovanni pena will face a judge today. he taught fourth grader at oyster-adams bilingual school. he confessed to touching the boy multiple times in the classroom

and sending a sexual photo on the smartphone app smart chat. he was 9 and 10 years old as the abuse happened. pena had been a close family friend. wow, look at that. this twister was one of many spotted in northern colorado. the storm brought flooding and marble size hail to larimer county last night. you can hear those -- that hail dropping there. that is about an hour outside of denver. at least 30 homes were destroyed. no one was hurt. can you imagine the dents in your car from hail that big? >> awful stuff. our weather is great. nothing to complain about here. >> good. we need perspective like that. >> what do we have today, tom? >> well, some people are complaining about lack of sunshine but we'll get some back by this afternoon. it's still cloudy, sprinkles and drizzle, mist falling.

age tourists unaccounted for after divers desperately searched muddy water all week in her conditions. that's the latest from the desk. i'm molette green, back to you. >> thank you. it's 4:34. we continue to dig through newly released search warrants in the quadruple murder in northwest d.c. police got a warrant for a car that belonged to the victim's assistant. it was found a block away from the crime scene. the assistant has not been accused of anything. we also have a picture of a boot print found on a door in the back of the house. police believe the killer kicked in that door to get into the house. yesterday, prosecutors and lawyers for daron wint were at the home looking through evidence and taking pictures. a murder investigation now underway in maryland after a woman was found dead in her home. gloria watson was found inside her apartment on wednesday afternoon. this is the first murder in frederick, maryland, this year. police say watson was assaulted

in her apartment. friends and family are shocked. >> this is gloria she was always out front especially on the nice days. she asked how everyone was doing. >> neighbors say watson was too nice to have any enemies. there's no word on a suspect or a motive right now. if you have any information, police would like to hear from you. more than a month after the baltimore riots, investigators are continuing to identify those who looted businesses. new photos have been released of those who looted the pharmacies. 27 pharmacies and two methadone clinics were hit hard during those riots. some of the pharmacies don't know what was taken, but there's about a 175,000 dosage units of dangerous medication on the street. the white house says virginians can fight depression and grow their economy if the state expands a public health insurance program. the white house panel says expanding medicaid would bring health insurance to 179,000 virginians. that includes 16000 suffering

you're watching "news4 today." >> welcome back. 4:45. we continue to follow a developing story this morning. millions of federal government employees have had their personal information stolen by hackers. we know this could affect many of you. names, social security numbers and birth dates all potentially exposed. some u.s. officials say china is responsible. lawmakers are furious and are demanding action. nbc's tracie potts is live on capitol hill with more on what they want to change. tracee, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, eun. susan collins said we should have had a tougher cyber security law to prevent things like this. she seems to think that this points to a country, namely china, that's what the obama administration is saying. because it was so extremely sophisticated and she points out

what valuable information this could be for a country like china. she also says that a strong response, retaliation by the united states is warranted here. this is such a huge amount of information. we're also hearing from mark warner of virginia. the democrat who's on the intelligence committee. he said that's a pattern here of the federal government failing to protect the information of its workers and that this is an escalating threat. richard burr, a republican on the other side from north carolina, says that the government needs to be a lot more proactive here. they can't just notify people after the fact which by the way they're sending out notices to those 4 million workers. now, we have got a lot more information on the nbc washington app. if you down load that, you can get more information about the breach and also about how to protect yourself. there's so many government workers around here. a lot of people are going to need to know that and quickly.

and i'm thinking the police are going to address that issue. >> police say this was not a random crime and that king was targeted. a judge says a woman who identified jesse matthew is allowed to identify him in court. she told the court she said she found his photo on her own after she was indicted for rape. she was attacked while walking home in 2005. and the trial starts on monday. chandra levy's parents say the wounds will never completely heal. they spoke to nbc news yesterday after a judge ruled that the man convicted of her murder will be retried. the man was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the crime. defense lawyers successfully appealed saying that the star witness in the case was unreliable. levy's parents say it puts their daughter's killing front and center all over again.

>> no matter how many you have, you don't have your daughter back. >> the man will appear in super year court next week. his defense lawyers are expected to ask the jimudge to release him on bond. now for the latest on a grisly terror plot foiled in massachusetts. the boston man shot and killed by investigators over a plot to behead police officers will be buried today. the family of 26-year-old usaama rahim said they're reeling from allegations that he was inspired by isis. police say they have recordings of rahim plotting his attack. a lawyer for the family says that they're in shock. >> the family does not have any evidence that usaama rahim was involved with isil. they didn't see anything that suggests that. >> rahim associated with david wright -- he was arrested as well.

investigators shot and killed rahim tuesday after he reportedly lunged at them with a large knife. police say investigators are trying to question rahim before he boarded a bus with a knife. right now, six patients are being monitored after a contamination scare at the national institute of health. a fungal scare has been found in some of the products. it was found in two vials that were being used to administer a cancer drug. officials have suspended all the manufacturing operations at this facility. six patients who may have received potentially contaminated injections are under observation. no one has gotten sick so far. the little pink pill, some call the female viagra. a final decision will not happen until august. flibanserin works on the woman's desire to have sex and the panel says it could be sold if it carries safety restrictions.

it can cause fainting and low blood pressure. later this morning, bowie state university will hold a special training for city police officers. the fbi is staging a two-day active shooter training course in martin luther king, jr., communications art center. it will start at 8:00 and last until 5:00 today. southwest airlines is extending a major fare sale through midnight. it was introduced earlier this week and pretty much everybody tried to get it, crashed the website, of course. it includes prices as low as $49 for one-way nonstop flights. >> that he's a good deal. >> yeah. >> gets you for travel between august and october. we'd like to see warmer weather. we might have to travel somewhere else to get warm weather. >> yeah more like seattle than washington.
