"first at 4" this afternoon new information about that massive data breach afgting more than 4 million current and former federal workers. >> consumer reporter erika gonzalez has been making calls an talking to experts. erika erika? >> we are getting a very clear picture of what exactly may be compromise and who this concerns. as it turns out, this attack may be a lot more personal than data breaches we've seen in the past. officials say some names, social security numbers, job assignments and training information could all be compromised. there have been reports that this did not affect people with security clearances or those who applied for clearances but our experts tell us it's too early to tell. we spoke with one cyber security expert today who says consumers are toing to have to be extra cautious for the long haul. >> we do have to be wary, and

we're going to have to be wary for a long time. the adversaries show extreme patience in carrying out these attacks. they've taken over the last five, ten years even. we need to show the same patience and wariness in protecting our information. >> ed baker also says keep an eye on your bank accounts, get a copy of your credit report just to be on the safe side. coming up on news4 aft 5, cyber security expert wade baker who you just saw will join me live from the newsroom to answer more questions on how this breach really pacts you including how it differs from the company breaches like target, like home debutpot we've talked about in the past. that's come up at 5:30. naturally, a lot of federal workers who may be affected are right here in our area. notices to affected workers will start going out on monday along with the option to request free credit monitoring to make sure your identity is safe. some of the folks who might be getting those notices tell news4 they are concerned but they're

of minutes overdoses today of a synthetic marijuana, a specific type of synthetic marijuana called bizarreo that apparently causes aggressive behavior and hallucinations almost in a pcp like way. now they have been on the scene here. seven people were transported, taken to the hospital from the shelter, three others refused treatment. again, we've just seen two more possible incidents in the last few minutes and i do not know what the dispension on that is. but the fire department is actually going to keep this command post here because at this point they have absolutely no idea what's going on this with this. they tell us they normally see one or two overdoses of this drug per day. today, again, it has been almost or possibly as many as a dozen so far. live in northwest, back to you. >> thanks, jackie. also "first at 4," we're getting new information about the two adults who died wednesday when their row house

caught fire near dupont circle. one was 25 years old and had just graduated from georgetown with a master's her family says she loved to run. michael mclafave lan's fall said he went to the university of maryland and graduated, he was 24 and loved soccer. his family said he was just started his career here in d.c. authorities called off the search for the reston, virginia man who went missing in the potomac river. they will try again tomorrow. marco reyes sanchez went into the water near great falls park on wednesday. he got caught up in the strong current and disappeared. montgomery county crews searched the river this morning but found nothing. they assume he's drowned. we're learning a lot more today about what police found when they arrested a man in connection with those murders in a d.c. mansion. new search warrants show investigators found cash, knives and clothes inside the car daron wint was riding in when he was arrested and in a truck that was just ahead of him. they also recovered several cell

phones but don't know if they belonged to the victims. we'll go live to meagan fitzgerald at the home in northwest in about ten minutes. the man charged with a deadly shooting outside a germantown target store is being held without bond. donald bicker was in a mont comery county courtroom for a bond hearing. according to court documents eshgs he allegedly bought a gun on the internet monday and used it the next day to shoot his ex-girlfriend in the store's parking lot. news4's chris gordon will have more on that and what the suspect allegedly told police. his live report come pg up at 5. severe storms charged across northern colorado, bringing heavy rain and several reports of tornadoes. roofs were ripped off vehicles upended. the storm damaged more than 30 homes yesterday. if that wasn't enough, hail pelted some areas in central colorado, about 100 miles outside denver. it was almost as big as a baseball and hard enough to punch a hole in a roof.

the hail caused significant damage to cars, trucks and homes but fortunately no one's been injured. here in our area the weather is starting to change, just as the weekend arrives. this is the dreary weather finally out of here. let's get the answer from storm team4 chief meteorologist doug kammerer in the storm center. what about it doug? >> it's out of here. it's really looking much, much better. the longer we go throughout the afternoon the better it gets. a lot of you on facebook and twitter saying rg the sun, i'm finally seeing the sun. not everybody is seeing it but the storm system is finally starting to pull out. a lot more clouds out toward the east. you are starting to see some clearing and some blue skies out there. not everybody, but, again, we will continue to see that. i think most of us should see a pretty nice sunset. look at the numbers up to 73 today. hey, a lot better than the 60s, only 61 though in ocean city. here's the 80s. these are the numbers we want coming this way and they are coming this way. i'll show you when, i'll show you how the weekend is looking,

plus next time we hit 90. that's in the forecast, too. >> thanks doug. we're waiting to hear from fairfax police any minute about a road closure that affected the morning rush hour. a downed tree took out a power line this morning, and traffic has been detoured ever since. a scam alert this afternoon from fairfax police. people are reportedly getting calls from someone claiming to represent the power company. the caller says service will be terminated unless a money card is purchased and the number is provided to him. in one case, several calls were made dmabding payment. a special tribute to a fallen officer. "first at 4," a girl's solemn salute to the father she never met and the several people who joined her. in an outpouring of charity, how the loss of beau biden is helping so many other people in need.

family and friends of a murdered d.c. journalist will be gathering to remember her life tonight. there will be a wake for charnice milton about 6:00 tonight. her funeral takes place tomorrow. milton was shot about two weeks ago on good hope road in southeast. her parents say someone used her as a human shield.

police released surveillance video yesterday showing several people on dirt bikes. coming up at 5, news4's darcy spencer joins us live with a message from milton's close friends. donations are pouring in to the charity willable foundation that honors the legacy of the vice president's son. the beau biden foundation for the protection of children was established shortly after his death saturday. its mission to protect kids from sexual predators. 600 donors have already given more than $125,000 according to the news journal of wilmington. beau biden served as delaware's attorney general from 2007 through january of this year. a task force is recommending tighter ethics rules for officials in frederick county. that's according to the frederick news post. one change would block elected leaders from bidding on county funded construction. this comes after the county ij icks commission found no conflict of interest in allowing councilman kirby delauder's construction company to bid on county contracts.

people in northwest washington. >> that's right. we're learning what evidence police found when they took a man into custody two weeks ago. news4's meagan fitzgerald joins us from the victims' home in northwest. meagan, what are you hearing? >> reporter: well, at this point, there's a lot that's been going on at this mansion over the last 24 hours. but for the first time chris police are telling us that this mansion is no longer considered a crime scene. a lot of activity, and we want to show you. take a look. you can see that crews are working right now on putting up a chain link fence all around the mansion. you can see on the roof they've started boarding up the windows. to the right there, for the last couple of weeks we've seen cars in the drive way. well someone came today, was not an investigator we're told and removed those vehicles from the house. all while we're learning new information about evidence that was uncovered the night that police arrested the suspect in this case. court documents say the night police pulled over the car wint was riding in two knives money orders clothing an ipad along

with a verizon samsung and iphone were recovered from the car. police also obtained a warrant to search the ford truck that was with wint. inside, investigators found more ransom money, money orders and a samsung galaxy phone. meanwhile, police say the three cell phones belonging to amy and savvas savopoulos and their housekeeper were missing from the crime scene. now it's unclear as to whether or not those cell phones that were found that night they arrested wint belonged to savvas savopoulos savopoulos, his wife and housekeeper but we know they provide a lot of crucial information for police as they continue with this investigation. now, coming up at 5, we'll have more about the arrest warrant that they got for savvas savopoulos' assistant and how quickly they were able to obtain it. chris? >> meagan, you covered the knives and cash. what else are they still looking for at this point? >> reporter: well, at this point, they're looking to find

the bag that was described when the assistant went and got the money. they want to know, where is the bag that was last seen? there are a lot of other things they're looking for, and they're really being tight-lipped about this, too. they're only releasing a little bit of information at a time. they got a search warrant the next day after the house went up in plame flames but we're just now learning about that. of course coming up at 5, we'll get more detailed information about that. >> all right meagan fitzgerald. thank you. >> thanks. we have posted all the search warrants on nbcwashington.com. if you are still waiting to buy an apple watch, you could soon be in luck. apple says some models of the watch should be available in stores within two weeks. when preorders for the watch launched in april, it was only available through apple's website and select luxury boutiques. industry insiders suspect april

couple of weeks away from father's day but a young girl from illinois honored her dad today and brought her entire class to the ceremony in d.c. megan morales' father died in 2004. marlon morales was a transit officer. he was at the u-street metro station when he confronted someone who didn't pay the fare. the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him. officer morales died three days later. his daughter megan was just 15 days old. >> you know, they grew up without a mother now megan grew up without a father. she recently graduated from eighth grade he wasn't there to see that. >> megan honored her father today at the national law enforcement officers memorial. all of her classmates were there. they had all just graduated from eighth grade like her, and they're all in town for a school field trip. just about 24 hours to go. why so many eyes will be on a small town tomorrow, and it

>> announcer: you're watching news4 at 4. breaking right now at 4:30, an overdose emergency in downtown d.c. more than ten people have been treated after they smoked a drug called bizarro at a shelter on 2 pd and "d" streets. the drug is described as a stimulant that sometimes makes people aggressive. developing in prince george's county. police have made the arrest in the murder of a bowie teenager. robert myers was taken into custody. they say he shot and killed 18-year-old devauptnte king. investigators say it looks to be the largest computer hack ever on the u.s. government. the records of more than 4 million workers may have been compromised. a lot of cyber security experts are blaming this on china, but chinese officials

warm. so much to do outside, of course the kids want to get out, too. we've been tracking the clouds and where the sunshine is. there's a little bit of holes around areas around annapolis and around baltimore. there's your storm system finally kicking to the north and east and moving out to sea but right here areas around annapolis and baltimore is where we're seeing the clouds start to erode acre little more sunshine. it will make for a nice evening. it will be partly cloudy, right before the sun sets, temperatures you can see where it's 73 degrees inside the beltway. other locations that have had the sun the longest in the mid-70s around oakland, cumberland 75 degrees, look at ocean city, rehoboth 60 and 61 degrees. the forecast for the weekend with the warmer water temperatures into the mid-60s are expected to be 70 degrees on saturday, mid-70s by monday, a little breezy but at least the weekend is looking fairly nice. we're back with your recreation recreational forecast, hourly forecast in a couple of minutes. to shocking new allegations

against former house speaker dennis hastert. a montana woman tells abc news hastert sexually abused her brother steven ryan boldt when he was a student at yorkville high school and hastert was a wrestling coach and teacher. this was before congress. she told the associated press the fbi interviewed her about the allegations last month. she said her brother told her before he died of aids in 1995 that his first homosexual contact was with hastert and the abuse lasted all through high school. nbc news has not independently confirmed the story and has tried repeatedly to reach hastert with no success. these allegations are separate from the federal indictment that alleges hast ss hastert agreed to pay more than $3 million to someone to uncover prior misconduct. the fbi and local law enforcement are desperately searching for what they fear may be a serial shooter targeting people in northern can colorado. in loveland, a quiet community

about 50 miles north of denver a 65-year-old man was gunned down while walking near his home on wednesday night. 15 miles away, a cyclist was shot to death last month. a third victim was also shot while driving, but she survived. drivers have also reported broken windows but no injuries. police say there's no positive link but they haven't ruled it out either. a drug research unit is shut down at nih this afternoon because it's contaminated. officials discovered a fungus in a product involved in an experimental study on cancer patients. six patients have gotten doses of medicine from the same batch. they're now being closely monitor monitored. an inspection showed

>> that's right. it triggered tornadoes heavy rains, damaginge inging hail and more powerful storms may be on the way today. >> nbc's sheneman has more. >> there it is! we have touchdown, people. >> reporter: tornadoes ripped across the northeastern colorado landscape thursday spawned from a powerful storm system. the twisters damaged more than two dozen homes north of denver. trees and power lines were destroyed, but there were no reports of any injuries. as for others, it was hail hail the size of grapefruits in some places forcing some denver residents to break out the snow shovels in june. >> i never seen anything like this. >> reporter: for more than 87 reporters, of hail across five states thursday into early friday morning. in the denver suburban of sheridan, a police suv was swallowed on patrol. >> the next thing i hear, all i see is a dirt wall in front of me. >> reporter: sergeant greg

miller was able to climb out the wind dough of the suv and onto the roof before pulling himself out of the hole. he suffered only minor injuries. >> somebody is looking over me. >> reporter: in kansas and missouri, heavy rains triggered flash flood warnings and even some evacuations. back in denver, the cleanup continue was the threat of more bad weather on the way. dan sheneman, nbc news. a driver and three others are being treated after a fiery morning accident in virginia beach. the man who was driving this van lost control after suffering a medical condition. it crashed into a mcdonald's drive-through, hit a gas meter and sparked a fire. that fire then spread to the building but, fortunately, none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening. well, turning again to the weekend and to what we are hoping will be a fantastic weekend after a really soggy week. >> what do you say? >> this week has just been up and down and all over the place. we had the heat at the beginning of the week, the downpours and
