right now at 6:00 the mother of a local woman murdered outside her home hopes police will soon solve the case. we are live with what family and friends are doing now to show their support. this is what's left after flames tear through an historic building. how the community came together after the fire and what the business owners plan to do next. they could be literally anywhere. >> and we've got a terrifying story out of new york, putting law enforcement everywhere on alert. convicted killers escape prison and officials have no idea where they may be.

tonight at 6:00, she was shot and killed on memorial day and nearly two weeks later, the crime remains unsolved. police say someone on a dirt bike shot and killed tam mare rah bliss while she stood outside her northwest d.c. apartment building. news4's darcy stepper is live where the community is coming together to remember her. >> reporter: we are on the field behind the kennedy rec center northwest, not far from where that shooting happened. if you take a look at the action here mind me this is a community coming together for a kick ballgame to honor and remember tamara g almost iss. let's -- gliss. it shows her 12-year-old son, she was a single parent, throwing the first ball in this game and her mom kicking the first ball. they say this is what she would have wanted to turn away from violence and for this community to come together. she was shot and killed on memorial day about 9:00 in the

evening, the 600 block of o street, just outside of where she lived. she was outside enjoying the holiday with family and friends when someone fired from a dirt bike. this case has not been solved. her funeral was yesterday. it was attended by hundreds of people. we spoke to her mom a short time ago and she says she does not believe her daughter was targeted. >> my daughter was at the right place, the right time but the person was at the wrong mace doing the wrong thing. whoever did it just like i said, he knows who he is. he just need to turn himself in. bring closure to our family. >> reporter: and as i said she leaves behind a 12-year-old son. he is here playing in this game this afternoon. i had a chance to speak to him. just a remarkable young man. he told me that's very sad but in some ways, he is happy because he knows that his mom is in a better mace a $25,000 reward is being offered for information that solves this murder case. back to you, erika.

darcy spencer live in northwest for us. thank you. d.c. police have a man in custody in connection with a stabbing near the gallery place chinatown metro station. just before 2:00 this morning on 7th street and north of h, a woman and three men were stabbed. everyone is expected to survive. no word yet on a motive. right now take a live look at our storm team 4 radar. things are fairly calm at this time, but we are tracking strong-to-severe storms for tomorrow. and meteorologist amelia siegel joins us with the potential impact. >> because of the heat and humidity, as well as breezy companies in the forecast for tomorrow scattered thunderstorms are likely and because of the heat and mugginess, like i said, breezy conditions, any storms we do track later in the day could be strong to severe. here's 8 a.m. a dry start. and we are dry, in fact, through the early afternoon hours, but by 2 p.m. storms will start to fair back around the corridor.

4 p.m. notice this heavy thunderstorm activity moving through parts of montgomery and loudon counties. 6 p.m., tracking some of that activity in the d.c. metro area. heavy rain and thunderstorms moving through the district, arlington and alexandria at 8 p.m. tomorrow evening. a chance of a few showers and thunderstorms not severe but overnight as well. now, there's a greater risk for severe weather for the counties here in yellow. this includes mainly montgomery frederick, howard and loudon counties. erika in just over ten minutes, i will have more on what severe weather risk we could be dealing with tomorrow afternoon and evening. >> thanks, a i meal ya. developing right now a massive manhunt for two dangerous murderers who staged an elaborate prison break. this happened at a maximum security facility in upstate new york. hundreds of officers have joined in on this search. they set up checkpoints on interstates and are scouring neighborhoods looking for clues. the convicted murderers used power tools, get this to cut

through steel walls and pipes. prison guards discovered their empty cells on saturday and now, we are learning they may have had outside help on this. >> they could be literally anywhere. although we have notified our partners in canada the ports of entry across the northern border certainly every law enforcement agency in the northeast, they could be out of state but they still could be holed up here in dannemora. >> there's $100,000 reward for information leading to their capture. right now, president obama is in germany, attending the g-7 summit and among his top priorities is mending u.s./german ties. he had a presummit meeting with chancellor angela merkel. they discussed the actions of pro-russian rebels in ukraine and the importance of showing unity. president obama will also meet other world leaders behind closed doors to discuss recent trade issues. an orlando teen has died after his older brother mistook

him for an intruder. investigators say the older brother heard noises inside his home and then fired one shot at a shadowy figure that he saw in the kitchen. well, after the shooting, he quickly realized that it was his younger brother and tried to give him cpr. the the 17-year-old died an hour later, though, at the hospital. police are just calling this a very tragic accident. he was known for his soulful voice, but today, we learned that a fan favorite who left "the voice" to enter rehab has died. friends say that this man, anthony reilly, took his life on friday. the singer made it to the battle rounds of "the voice" and was coached by pharrell williams. but left the singing competition in january to deal with substance abuse issues. reilly was a fixture in philadelphia's center city and often played in the streets to earn a few tips. he was 28 years old.

an awful scene at the beach in florida today after a shark attacked a little boy. the 11-year-old was wading in waist-deep water in cocoa beach when a five-foot-long bull shark suddenly bit his calf. lifeguards pulled him out of the water amount boy was airlifted to a hospital in orlando. the fire department describes his injuries as significant and we are going to hear from one of the witnesses. >> two big waves came in. on the second big wave, we saw what looked to be a juvenile bull shark. it had the dark gray with the black and the black tip. and as we turned around, we were trying to get our bearings to figure out where it went, probably about 15 seconds later we saw a group of people in knee-high water and we heard screaming. >> ocean rescue cleared everyone from the beach but it's now back open. the family of a woman seriously injured by a broken bat at fenway park on friday say they are thankful for everyone's

prayers and well wishes. in a statement, tanya carpenter's family said they remain by her side as she recovers at the hospital. carpenter was hit in the head by a that broken bat that you just saw there. every major league stadium, including nats park has a protective net behind home plate, but a net would not have prevented this accident. today is expected to be the coolest day of the entire week. amelia is tracking a heat wave, believe it or not, and the potential for storms. an historic building nearly reduced to ashes. how the community came

a saturday night outing in loudon county turns to panic as flames erupt at one of downtown's historic business sites. flames grew so quickly, multiple neighboring fire department also to step in to get this under control. audible crackling and sparks from this fire in historic downtown leesburg, a passerby starts recording the scene on his cell phone. >> it was very dramatic. >> reporter: leesburg mayor says a slew of people were out enjoying a classic car show last night when smoke began to fill the sky. >> we heard the sirens. we had multiple businessmen and

women in the back, in the alley and in the parking garage, just watching in horror as that second story just went up in a conflagration. >> reporter: the second and third stories of this building are apartments but beneath that where you see the lights on is calkens jewelers, a staple in downtown leesburg, owned and operated by two brothers, beloved community members since the '50s. >> especially proud of all the neighbors and business owners who came down to see if stanley calkins and roger calkins were already. >> reporter: and they were. however, a few others, including a firefighter, were taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. unfortunately first responders say a number of four-legged friends did not make it out alive. today evidence of the fire is here in these mounds of ashes and these boarded up windows, then down below, tarps cover the cases of jewelry and fine goods. while there is plenty of cleanup to be had and insurance claims

to fire we are told calkins has plans to rebuild. the fact that there were so many people downtown for that car show made it pretty tricky for firefighters to get to the scene. inspectors tell us there is about a half million dollars worth of damages. a special tribute honoring fallen firefighters in maryland. maryland state police helicopters flew over the emergency services memorial park in annapolis today. this year, five names of fallen heroes will be added to the wall of honor. during the ceremony they read the names of all state's fire and rescue family who died in the line of duty over the past ten years. well, today, not feeling like summer, but it seems like things will change over the next couple of days. cool out there, a little gray but really nice. >> a nice breeze at times, our high temperature today was 79 and you're exactly right, erika, very summer-like this week.

scattered thunderstorms likely tomorrow, some of those storms could be strong to severe. and then wednesday through saturday, we will likely hit 90 degrees or higher every day. that means our second heat wave potentially of the year. now, your weather impact forecast for tomorrow the weather having a moderate to maybe even high impact on your day, because of those scattered thunderstorms in the forecast during the afternoon and evening hours. the heat, humidity and breezy conditions could lead to some strong-to-severe thunderstorms. the greatest weather risk that i'm tracking right now would be some heavy rain. now, flash flooding suspect necessarily likely because the winds are going to keep these thunderstorms moving but if it is happening while you're out driving that could certainly lead to some hydroplaneing or reduced visibility. also, high winds are possible and any thunderstorms that could lead to wind damage. there is a low risk of hail, i can't rule out a tornado because of how the winds are set up tomorrow. it would be isolated and not a definite thing, but something

that i can't rule out. temperatures right now are in the 70s, 77 degrees in washington, gray skies today plenty of clouds we kind of had a marine layer trapped over us as the sun goes down, we will become mainly clear. so it is going to be mostly sunny and dry start tomorrow morning. 67 degrees. in fact, we will be dry through the early afternoon hours 2, 3, even 4 p.m. 11 a.m. clouds start to increase, it's breezy 79 degrees at that point. a high tomorrow of 87. 7 p.m. temperature of 84. and again tracking scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours especially between about 3 and 9 p.m. showing you future weather on tuesday, there's still the chance of some showers and thunderstorms mainly during the thorly morning hours, see future weather around 1 p.m. no severe weather threat on tuesday, but can't rule out rain impacting your day. before i get to the five-day forecast, i want to give a quick
