going to show you live pictures from the hearing underwait right now. it was called after several audits of the agency. among other things, it found the tsa agents failed to identify 73 airline workers who may be connected to terrorism. those employees were cleared to work in sensitive areas. homeland security director talked about the challenges earlier in the hearing. >> we've also examined the performance of tsa ease work force which is largely a function of who is hired and how they are trained and managed. our audits have found that often a simple failure to follow protocol poses vulnerabilities. >> the agency says it is trying to expand the watch list. it's also trying to improve training programs. from the life desk, i'm pat lawson. >> you shouldn't face anymore delays this morning if you use the express lanes or 95 or 395. drivers sat through long delays

they believe she has what's called xdr tuberculosis. the challenge is find anybody who came in contact with her. >> reporter: the patient is in an isolation room. only described as a female. while doctors treat this serious case of tuberculosis, central and state health departments are trying to track down hundreds of people who may have been in contact with her. >> the biggest guns we have in terms of antibiotics is what has to be used in this case and even when we use them there's limited effectiveness with this type of tuberculosis. >> reporter: in april the victim is believed to have traveled from india to chicago and then to missouri and tennessee before seeking treatment. seven weeks after arriving in the u.s. she was transferred to the nih. the cdc and state health

departments are trying to contact other passengers on her flight and anyone who came in contact with her in at least three states. the risk the low, but health experts take tuberculosis very seriously. >> people who were on that plane with her owe it to themselves and their close contacts to be followed up to see whether they're infected. >> tuberculosis bacteria are released into the air when someone coughs, sneezes, shouts or sings. the bacteria can float in the air for several hours. people with lowered immunity are most at risk. in 2007 the u.s. quarantined an atlanta man who knew he had tuberculosis but flew and then drove into the u.s. he was treated and released. now this morning, a tuberculosis case here at the nih. this patient now could undergo months or years of treatment. unfortunately, the cure rate is rather low. the big challenge is to term

of a police involved shooting at the giant shopping center off of 301 near pennsylvania avenue. we are still gathering details. at this point we understand that one person was injured in this shooting and was not a prince george county police officer. you can take a look here and you can see that there is a pickup truck that has its doors opened, and what appears to be a lot of medical equipment beside the truck. that's possibly where the person who was shot was worked on before they were transported away from the shopping center here. this is still an active scene. we spoke with one person who said before he was able to leave police asked for his driver's license, and his name and information to make sure he was not involved. some of the other people are not allowed to leave at all because they're inside of the crime scene. again, this is still unfolding and we're waiting for an up date.
