and drug resistant. two senate buildings cleared out because of bomb threats. let's get to the details. >> police have given the all clear. the threat was enough to stop a senate hearing in progress. senators and staffers clearing out that room. bomb sniffing dogs were called in to search through the office building buildings. they didn't find anything. two hours later someone called in another bomb threat. and the white house briefing room was briefly evacuated during a live televised press conference. the evacuation was limited to that briefing room and did not impact any other sections of the white house.

we are told the president was at the white house at the time of the threat but was not moved from his location. >> right now in the parking lot outside of a grocery store is roped off with crime scene type. >> the shooting happened at the giant highway. tracy wilkins with the first reporter on the scene. >> police say this all started last night when baltimore police report ed reported that that vehicle was here in prince georges county. the unit that deals with car theft and crime located it here in the giant parking lot.

police believe they have a an idea of why those suspects were here. >> we are looking into the possibility that these armed suspects were here to rob the bank on the property. >> this is the crime scene here and right over my left shoulder this is the sun trust bank that police believe was going to be targeted in a bank robbery today. coming up we hear from customers and people who were stuck inside of that giant when all of this was happening in the parking lot. news 4. >> prosecutors say their case against jesse matthew is moving more quickly than expected. they called several city police officers who first investigated the decade old murder and sex abuse case. tell us what happened in the courtroom today.

this was scheduled for a two week trial. we are already as of now nine witnesses in. they have had a handful come to the stand this morning. the prosecution focusing right now on their most critical piece of evidence and that is dna. we heard from some of the officers who first responded including one of the officers who rode to the hospital with the victim immediately following the attack. we heard sfr that nurse as well. she took the stand and testified about what she collected from the alleged victim that is now obviously evidence in this case. we heard from the lead fairfax city detective in this case. he has been following the investigation for the past ten years. now the prosecution focusing now more than ever on that dna evidence. the victim, she testified yesterday. she said back in 2005 she was walking home within the city of fairfax and an attacker dragged her into a wooded area, beat her

and sexual assaulted her with his hand. he tried to kill her before a car scared him off. jesse matthew is charged in this crime. prosecutors began explain inging that matches matthew after his arrest. what we heard earlier today, the defense already beginning to punch holes into that argument coming up at 5:00, i'm going to show you how they are already starting to create doubt in the jurors' minds. >> st patient with the rare drug resistant form of tuberculosis has a tough road ahead of her. one expert says people with that type of tb often face months of gruelling treatment that usually involves a cocktail of antibiotics. she flew from india to chicago and then spent time in missouri

and tennessee before she realized she was sick. the woman was transferred to nih last friday and right now she is being treated in a specialized isolation room. health officials are trying to track down hundreds of people who may have had contact with her. fire investigators are trying to figure out how a fire started. it quickly spread to other homes forcing several families to evacuate. it happened before noon today at the chefy chase condos. 75 firefighters worked to put the blaze out. several families and their pets are displaced now because of water and smoke damage. >> we got past the little storms but boy is it hot and steamy out there. doug? >> i tell you guys, today a little on the hot side. the good news is the humidity has come down just a little bit and that will be the case as we move on through the rest of the early evening hours. a comfortable day tonight and

evacuation. a phone call coming not to the white house but to police. a whole west wing full of presidential branch employees. why weren't they evacuated? the answer is the details are not exactly forthcoming. this threat was particularly made to the white house briefing so it was interrupted but not cancelled and they came back. again they came back to talk about tsa. >> yeah. and a lot of folks out there really concerned about airport security. what came out of that hearing before they got interrupted? >> that's the irony. the concern prompted the evacuation they were talking about tsa security losses where 95% of weapons got through check point s points and now the new revelation that a lot of

they have given the all clear at the white house and capital building after bomb threats. the secret service swept the briefing room. inspected two rooms in the senate office building. they didn't find anything but investigators are looking into weather they're connected. police say an officer opened fire when one of the men pulled out a gun. the men are expected to survive. >> local fans just filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit against metro and adam is working on that story for news 4 at 5:00. >> this lawsuit filed against metro for $25 million claims that 35-year-old lawyer from dc

latest on what went on inside. >> answered only a few times yes, sir when presented with the charges that he illegally moved a large amount of money and lied to federal agents about that. it was his attorney who responded, thomas green the washington based attorney, saying not guilty to the court. he is going through the procedure that follows the hearing. he will have a mug shot taken and he will be released on $4500 bond. it's a part of his bond that he is required to forfeit his passport and submit a sample of his dna. he has been told to stay away from any victims if there have r any in the case. >> all right. thanks.

it's now official. a new soccer stadium will be built in the district. that's the soccer team's last minute flirtation with building in loudon county. the chief and city officials have resolved the issues. the mayor said dc would use eminent domain to seize the final piece of property if the district can't reach an agreement to buy it outright. >> dc united will have its permanent home in washington d.c. >> the district promised to turn over land. the team would pay for the cost of building it. it plans to open in the spring of 2018. >> turning now to meteorologist ver ron ka jones, we're kranging up the heat. what's it going be like tonight? >> tonight is going to be very, very nice. one of our nicest overnights of the entire week. meanwhile we have rain that we

enrollment and insurmountable financial challenges and need to close the school sometime this summer. >> a judge rejected a gag order in the freddie gray police custody death which has barred many from speaking pubically about the case. six police officers are facing charges ranging from second degree murder to maryland assault. freddie gray died of a spinal cord injury. the judge rejected the state's attorney's motion for the gag order saying it is left standing. there is new legal action in cleveland. the group of lawyers and community leaders filed court papers today taking charges against the two police officers involved in this death. the 12-year-old was shot last november outside of a recreation center. he was holding a toy gun when police arrived on the scene. one of the officers said he thought that gun was real. >> sleeping on the. >> joe: is not a good idea.

and a fraternity house was a house of horrors. he filed a lawsuit saying he was burned with cigarettes, and forced to drink potentially lethal quantities of alcohol. he said the university ignored his complaints so he was forced to go to state college police. >> i really wanted this to be changed without having to go to the police. only when it became necessary penn state did absolutely nothing. and a massive manhunt is now in its fourth day. police know how richard and david broke out of the maximum security facility but they are still working on who helped them. new york state police confirm
