many traditions in this sport, some long time and some recent. one of the recent ones is the team picture. one of the long time ones is the conn smythe trophy and then the presentation of the cup. and we'll just remind you, there is a little mystery about that. but meanwhile, the celebration goes on and it will last all summer. until they put the engraving tool to the old 122-year-old trophy. teravainen is one they'll need to be careful on. kane probably not so much. jonathan toews and pierre. >> pierre: this is the time we've had the opportunity to do this. the first time in chicago. you're at the top of the nhl mountain. how's the view? >> i can't -- it doesn't feel real right now.

his mother gloria made the trip from windsor for ceremony. 27 years ago today he was drafted by the maple leafs. when he returned to windsor with gloria, the neighbors had a huge banner in front of the house, thrilled that he was drafted by their favorite team. windsor is close to detroit but i guess there is a boundary there in some cases. scottie bowman was out there with him just a moment ago. one of the stalwart defensemen brent seabrook is with pierre. >> pierre: hourw does this one feel? >> we've been lucky enough to win three. every time we've won it it seems to get better. we battled tonight, tampa bay is a hell of a team. we have to watch out for them,

school here on a teaching scholarship and that when she was here, she did not appear to be trying to pass as african-american. this 2005 d.c. court of appeals opinion upheld the original findings in the lawsuit against howard university by rachel dolezal, known by her married name, rachel moore in 2002. she claims she was a victim of discrimination while a graduate student at university. she claims officials removed some of her artwork in a 2001 art exhibition in order to favor african-american students. the court ultimately ruled in howard's favor. with curiosity and a measure of compassion for dolezal who resigned as head of the spokane, washington naacp. >> a lot of kids go home in the summer so you don't see many people. >> i feel she stood up for

for some relief from crowded commutes tomorrow. but tonight news 4 learned they will have to wait a little longer. live at the metro station with an update, shomari? >> metro says the 4,000 series rail cars, there's no timeframe for their return. this will most likely cause a longer commute for a lost folks as they go on metro on their way to work and other things that they need do. tonight we have learned metro will continue its inspection of about 100 metro rail cars and this will keep the large eight-car trains off the track for longer than was initially suspected. the new development leads commuters with smaller six-car trains. metro said the troubled 4000 series would likely return to service this week. that's not happening. 4,000 series cars saw trouble when car doors opened while cars were in motion. riders captured as doors opened, trains traveled and cars will

not be back on the tracks for tomorrow's commute. again back out here live, the inspection process is still going on. live in northwest d.c. i'm shomari stone. >> the judge ordering a mental health evaluation for jerez coleman. he faces 11 felony counts for incidents that started last december and ended last month. according to the u.s. attorney's office, prosecutors played what she say were coleman's prank 911 calls. he was once in the reality show "catfish." >> new tonight, the man charged with killing four people in a d.c. mansion has a new attorney. public defenders will no longer represent daron wint. he will tell a judge he hired shawn hanover of fairfax as his defense attorney.

their 10-year-old son and housekeeper were held hostage until $40,000 cash was delivered to the mansion. he is accused of killing the victims and sitting the house on fire. police believe he had help but he is the only one that's been arrested. >> sentencing for the man who jumped over the white house fence and inside the mansion. omar gonzalez got into what is supposed to be the most secure building in washington. it triggered security changes, including changes to the white house fence. the attorney for gonzalez has timed served citing his service in the army. prosecutors want gonzalez to serve 21 months in prison. >> evening storms, sounding awfully familiar. doug, sounds like it's not changing any time soon. >> not any time soon. one more full day of this, then we will see a change. but tomorrow may be the hottest day we've seen so far this season. today a hot one that the heat index hit 101. with that we saw scattered showers and storms vel pop they

ex-boyfriend. court records show creighton once served as his public defender. >> beaches are open. a lot of folks are refuse oing to get into the water in north carolina after two horrifying shark attacks caused two teenagers their arms. the search is on off the carolina coast. authorities don't know if one or two sharks are responsible. in the first case a 12-year-old girl was in waist-deep water when the shark attacked. an hour later a 16-year-old boy was attacked two miles away. officials say quick thinking by standers helped save their lives. >> it was like a scene all of a sudden out of jaws. people are yelling, get out of the water. call 911. shark, shark! >> both children today have their arms amputated. north carolina had just four shark attacks in 2014. the state with the most by far was florida with 28 attacks last year. >> a toddler remains in critical condition tonight after nearly drowning at a water park in

fairfax county today. emergency crews rushed the child to the hospital sunday after he was found in the bottom of a pool. lightning forced lifeguards to clear the pool and that's when someone spotted the boy at the bottom. park officials say the pool was fully staffed at the time. lifeguard did what they were supposed to do. the boy was at the park with his family. investigators have not said what happened when he went under. >> a financial predator will spend a decade in prison for stealing two homes in prince george's county. prosecutors tell us johnson broke into a vacant home in 2013 started living there. that same year, johnson and a friend stole the upper marlboro home of a dead woman. johnson also worked with shannon lee. lee rented out forcloseeclosed homes she didn't own. she was sentenced to six months

inside the washington national cathedral. the work began last spring after the building suffered extensive damage from the 2011 earthquake. phase 1 of the restoration process cost $10.5 million. phase 2 will include repairs to the outside of the building and that will take much longer. construction will last more than a decade and is expected to cost about $22 million. >> a company that makes money protecting your pass words has just been hacked. the last pass company said its security team discovered suspicious activity on its network and blocked it. lastpass said hackers did not get access to user accounts but may have gotten e-mail addresses and pass word reminder information. so go figure, lastpass sent out an e-mail tonight to members telling them to change their pass words. >> the cost of the search for two escaped killers in upstate new york is now over $10 million

and climbing and cost o of about a million dollars a day. tonight police teams search man manholes for matt and sweat. the prison worker accused of helping them break out was back in court today. she was investigated with a prior sexual incident with one of the escapyies but there wasn't enough evidence to remove her from her job. >> a san diego deputy using a stun gun on o a run away teenager. take a look. the deputy said there was a struggle after he tried several times to get the 13-year-old into his squad car. he said he had to use his taser because the teen bit him. >> what we have is really an out of control juvenile who could have prevented this whole ordeal just by obeying the command of the police officer and being returned home. >> they are defending the office are's tactics and showing photos

yes, sir around houston, dallas and oklahoma city. this new video showes a power of all that water as it rushes into a restaurant during the last storm. that's why crews in houston have been trying to shore up various barricades as best they can. areas around the city could get hit with up to 10 inches of rain in one day. so officials are positioning emergency vehicles ahead of time. this is all part of the country that flooded just a few weeks ago. so thousands of people are stocking up on the essentials and buying as much bottled water and packs of batteries as they can. officials expect the heaviest downpour to start around sun rise. >> that's good news. that makes it a daylight event as opposed to the memorial day event, which was largely at night when people couldn't see. >> the risk of flooding starts tuesday morning but it could continue all the way through thursday. doug? >> yeah, that's right, chris. this storm system making its way up the coast right now towards the gulf coast up towards houston again this is tropical storm bill and you can see where

this storm ends. it just became tropical a little bit earlier this after even in and the named storm just became a named storm as of 11:00 tonight. on this track making its way close to houston. it'll pass just down south. unfortunately the rain on this is just going to be to the north of the track. so that includes houston and dallas. could come up with 40 mile per hour winds. but once again, the wind is not a big factor here. it'll be the flooding as it moves on the next couple of days. we will watch that for sure. they could easily see some locations that gets upwards of 10 inches of rain and already saturated areas. that's something we are watching as we make our way through the next couple of days. out there now in our area, not the rain. it is the heat once again. current temperature of 82 degrees with that heat index of 87. that's 11:00 at night. temperatures won't go down all that much. we may go down to 78, 79.
