one point, it took more than 100 firefighters to get the flames under control. the fire chief at one point forced to sound an alarm to pull firefighters out of the building. take a look at the picture here. you can see the huge hole in the roof of this building. that instability initially is why firefighters were pulled back, before they were able to get the flames out here. news4 molette green is live on the scene there. she joins us with an update on the situation there, molette. >> reporter: yes. behind me are the firefighters still battling the blaze at tucker's bar and lounge. i'll step out of the way to see. it took firefighters actually time to get to the fire when they got to the call at 4:00 a.m. this morning because the fire was deep inside the roof of this building. this restaurant is a staple in this country. and the bulk of the fire confined to the restaurant and lounge. there's also a liquor store that's part of this little strip

looking good. top of the beltway, no issues, again, if you're heading out of town, a warning for harbor tunnel, it's shut down because of a serious crash. 6:02 now this morning we're finally getting a break from all of that heat and humidity. take a live look. gorgeous morning outside. you will notice cooler temperatures and less humidity as we step outside. storm 4 team meteorologist tom kierein is tracking it over the next hour. >> hooray. we went through the humidity the last few days. it will be dropping down into the pleasant zone today. it gets uncomfortable at the end of the week but not as oppress oppressive. headlines, with humidity moving in, not as hot as well. storms south and west of the metro.

fredricksburg. and that temperature not jumping as much as yesterday. 8:00, near 70. by 10:00, 80. at noon time, 82. your bus stop forecast on what to wear this wednesday. today, metro will have to answer to a skwathing report that details how the agency is not meeting its own safety when it comes to safety protocols. the report also criticizes metro's communication between its own departments. and the fta also found that metro is suffering from a lack of staffing and management. we'll learn more at 10:00 this morning when that report is officially released. and you'll have to deal with crowded metro trains for at least another month. engineers checked all the 4,000 series cars taken out of service. and found no safety hazards but some door components are lower than standards.

the agency took it out of service after the doors came home. metro says it will take a month to gradually get the cars back on track. we're staying on top of a developing story in the district. police are trying to figure out who shot a man that happened after midnight near orren and mill in trinaidad area. d.c. police are looking for three men they are calling persons of interest. police want to question these men in connection with a chuting in the districts. here's the video, investigators say someone shot a 16-year-old boy moments after he stepped off a bus near 28th and naylor road after midnight tuesday. if you recognize the men in the video call d.c. police. a miracle, that is how members of a church in alexandria are describing a motorcycle crash that devastated a classroom but left no children hurt. a motorcycle hit a car at the

control. fire investigators just arrived on the scene there. you can see a huge hole in the roof of the tucker's bar and lounge. it's a liquor store at that location as well. the instability of that structure prompted the fire chief to call fire crews back. there was an evacuation order at one point. this restaurant a staple in this community and the bulk of the fire was confined to the restaurant lounge. as we say, there's a liquor store door that did suffer damage. let's check in with news4 meagan fitzgerald following the developments of the aftermath of tropical storm bill. meagan. >> right now, what we know, the tropical storm is now considered a tropical depression. it started to weaken. we also know it's just now starting to rain a little bit in dallas as that storm system slowly starts to move north. flash flooding is still a concern in some parts of texas. we know there's some high water

aspirations of attacking last year. lawyers for the man accused of murdering a university of virginia student want a new judge. lawyers for jesse matthew filed a motion asking judge cheryl higgins to recruits herself. according to this motion, higgins has a daughter who is a sophomore at uva and attended a vigil for hannah graham. investigators also question the dozensch search warrants they say higgins approved. a man has died after being hit by a d.c. street sweeper. 78-year-old man was killed while cleaning the road near clay place. the man later tied at the hospital. the street sweeper stayed on the scene after the accident. no charges have been filed. today on capitol hill a house committee will look into regulating the use of drones. lawmakers are holding that hearing about personal and commercial use of drones. the federal aviation administration deputy administrator michael whitaker

the test. the college boards says if students don't want to take the tests again, it will score them without including that disputed section. older moms are increasing the birth rate in the u.s., according to the national center for health statistics. the birth rate rose by 1% between 2013 and 2014. the largest increase was seen in women between 30 and 40 years old. birth rates among unmarried couples and teenagers were down during the same time. we're also learning that the teenage birth rate is at an all-time low. well, new research says your kids can get sharper minds by growing up with somewhere green to play. researchers in spain found children who live near parks, gardens or wooded areas develop mental skills about a year ahead of other children. the researchers said thinking skills and memory had the biggest benefits here. they tested 2500 kids for this particular study. they also said living near water

the way they target illegal drugs like focusing on suppliers. police are trying to figure out who shot a young man at the huntington community center in bowie. maryland park place say the victim was shot several times. medics rushed him to the hospital where doctors performed surgery. investigators are working with bowie police to figure out if it was related to a shooting a couple days ago. a man died after he was tased by an officer. the freelance star reports the culpepper commonwealth attorney is reviewing evidence in this case. 30-year-old domenic wise died after he was tased and taken into custody. an autopsy report determined that wise's death was an accident but the electric shock did play a role. the name of that officer involved has not been released. i'm meagan fitzgerald at the
