man charged with landing a gyrocopter on the white house land has rejected a plea deal. it would have involved several years in prison. hughes is if s in florida and worked for the pose sal service. it happened in april. he's now barred by the court from entering the district exempt for court appearances and meetings and he's barred from operating an aircraft. he is on home detention. there will be another hearing in late july. as we get more information, we'll update you here from the live desk and on the nbc washington app. >> we have breaking news right now. jesse jackson junior is back in d.c. and out of a halfway house. we were there. we will hear from him later this hour. the chicago sun times reports he will likely spend the rest of his sentence in the district. he spent more than 2.5 years in

prison escapees is shifting back to the area near the prison. we confirm state troopers are investigating a break in at a hunting cabin. multiple sources say dna from the men was found in the cabin saturday. earlier this morning they rolled into the town. they are expected to hold a news conference about the ongoing search. the two men escaped more than two weeks ago. they could be hitching rides on trains, investigators say. and this morning a body of a former white house chef has been recovered. his body was found hours ago off of a trail. rescue crews have not released any other information. he served as white house receive under clinton and bush from 1994 until 2005. this morning we saw several confused metro riders trying to get into the station.

yes, indeed. another little heat wave is in progress around here. today is three days in a row 90 or higher. tomorrow is four in a row but that's where it comes to an an impulse of pressure brings severe weather to minneapolis. if you have a flight out of chicago or detroit could have weather related slow downs in the midwest. nothing going on here. only showers closer to us are around the virginia, north carolina boarder. tomorrow i think the slight risk is down over our area. that means a possibility of

the disruption to their travel plans and we'll be refunding their tilkts to london. a routine international flight lands more than 30 hours later but one passenger was missing. the one now charged and still being held for disruptive behavior on an airplane and common assault. nbc news chicago. today a judge will sentence a police officer accused of misconduct. he entered an alford plea in the case. that means he doesn't have to admit guilt but he believes there's enough evidence to convict him. this shows him hitting and kicking a 15-year-old. the mother said the teen's right eye was swollen shut. it happened in 2012. >> we're following a story regarding instagram. they're seeing warning that it's

a blacklist site. we know the north korean government has a grip of online. instagram is owned by facebook which is functioning normally there. story this morning, 25 civilians were hurt including three children after a taliban attack at the afghan parliament pound in kabul. they were broadcasting live when they heard the explosion. the speaker tells the members of parliament that it's an electric fault. it was a suicide bomber. gunmen tried to storm the complex but security forces pushed them back. six militants believed to be linked to the taliban were killed. the torrential rains are ending but now there is widespread flooding in missouri.

a single southbound lane right now is closed. going to be reopening in a couple of hours around 2:00 this afternoon. the federal highway administration moved up the inspection because of severe potholes there. if you have driven it you know what i'm talking about. engineers will try to determine where water is getting in and if there are other factors causing the potholes. >> and you can route for the usa in the women's world cup. the americans haven't lost a match so far but they did tie one game. whoever loses today is out. the winner will take on china later this week. >> in news for health a new hpv vaccine may be linked to fewer precancerous cervical lesions in women but researchers say there was a significant drop in lesions among women 18 to 20 after the volcano seen was used but it may also reflect a change in screening recommendations during the same time frame.

placed on top of the wall. and the permanent features of this park, there are nine stone pillars representing the nine people who were killed in the crash. the idea behind the memorial park is to give family members a peaceful place to remember their loved ones. there are a number of benches where people can sit and reflect. this woman lost her stepdaughter in the crash and says the loss is still very painful but she finds this memorial very comfort comforting. >> it's going to have to take some time. it's going to take more time than the six years that have gone by. >> do you see yourself coming here? >> yeah. as a matter of fact, we are neighbors of this park. we're just two blocks down. >> reporter: it was the worst crash or the worst accident in metro accident that occurred on this day back in 2009. nine people were killed. many more injured.

as far as the family members, many of them are seeing this memorial for the first time and they say that it is comforting. they're pleased with how it turned out. >> the owners of the reston zoo are now facing a federal complaint saying they abuse their animals. the department of agriculture says the owners did not popperly super vise some animal pens in florida. they're also accused of euthanizing animals. they own a virginia safari park. >> the woman here now has a dismean charge on her record. she drove past a barericade and into this high standing water. crews had to drive in on a dump trouk rescue the woman. then police arrested her. the road had been closed for two days. >> they should have written her a ticket for being a knuckle head.

right now on news 4 midday, a team of anchors and reporters covering the day's big story. we are tracking intense heat on the way and a big development right now in new york. that man hunt for two escaped prisoners. details are coming into the live desk. first, though, an outpouring of emotion after a church attack in south carolina. nbc is in charleston. >> reporter: from heart break to healing. thousands took to the streets and highways of charleston walking in a massive unity chain sunday night. just hours after mother emmanuel church opening it doors for the first worship service since the tragedy. >> a lot of folks expected us to do something strange and to break out in a riot. well, they just don't know us.
