the governor is really positive about this, and there is also state of the science. >> over the coming months i'll be receiving multiple very aggressive chemotherapy treatments. most likely i'm going lose my hair. you won't have these beautiful gray locks. >> while the strain he has is described as aggressive one doctor say it may not be as scary as it sounds. >> aggressive lymphoma often times respond very well and very quickly to the therapies that we prescribe for the patients. >> governor hogan has pledged to continue his role as the state's chief executive. >> i will be working hard. >> and that should be possible. ideally most of the treatments for nonhodgkins lymphoma are done without long-term hospitalization. >> usually once every three weeks on an out-patient basis. >> is barring side effects from the therapy itself.

while medical support is important so is the moral support from marylanders. like these folks at the restaurant in the shadow of the state house with politics and corned beef go hand in hand. >> you hear the word cancer and immediately you think the worst. but i'm hopeful he will pull through. he has a lot of people on his side. >> with my faith, my family and my friends, i know that i won't just beat this disease but that i'll be a better and stronger person and governor when we get to the other side of it. >> now an inevitable side effect is fatigue on the part of the governor from the treatment. the lieutenant governor earlier said one thing about b this administration is that the governor and he share a chief of staff communications director. there would be a seamless transition should the lieutenant governor need to step in.

fairfax county. shomari, what did you find there? >> tonight we talked to customers and many are pleased they will stop selling confederate flag merchandise. we also checked on-line out here and some customers checked and you can't buy on-line. many say this is the right thing do. confederate flag opponents are pleased. they say the flag is a symbol of hate and slavery. dylann roof with pictures of himself holding a confederate flag on-line. wal-mart states, we never want to offend anyone with the product that we pofrp we have taken steps to remove all items promoting the confederate flag whether in our stores or on our website. customers are pleased. >> we are happy. it was an insult to to people and all the insensitivity was just terrible. >> but not all customers are applauding this decision.

some say that the confederate flag is not a symbol of hate. that it is simply represents southern heritage and pride. there you have it, both sides. live here in alexandria, i'm shomari stone, news 4. >> chris lawrence here with another development in the fight over that flag. tonight for the first time ever a mississippi republican called on the state to remove the confederate emblem from its flag. the mississippi house speaker said it has become a point of offense and it is time to talk about changing mississippi state flags. moveon.org has been circulating a petition there and so far more than 5,000 people have signed it. governor nikki haley reversing her previous position and now wants the state legislature to remove the confederate flag flying at the capitol. but she doesn't make that call the legislature does. they are in a meeting about budget, but they could extend the session. taking up this within a week of

chris lawrence here with an update on the arrest of sean diddy combs. the rapper and businessman is in custody of the l.a. county sheriff's department charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

this is new video just coming in from our sister station in los angeles which shows sean combs in handcuffs as he walks inside l.a. county jail. he was transferred into their custody from ucla campus police where he was arrested for assaulting someone with the football team. combs' son, justin, plays football for them and diddy is often at their practices. there was a statement put out saying it was an unfortunate incident but he is thankful that his staff was professional in the way they handle it. jim? >> thank you, chris. we have new pictures of the man police tell us sexually say assaulted a little girl inside a maryland pharmacy. we told but this story last week. now police say the original picture they sent out was of a man not connected to the case. someone inappropriately touched a 6-year-old girl an cvs on

it is looking wet, coastal storm system delivering temperatures much cooler in the 70s this weekend. most of our rain that comes over the weekend is saturday late into sunday morning. it is looking pretty wet. we could see between 1 and as much as 2 inches of rain with that weekend storm system. i think it should kick out of here by sunday afternoon. give us a chance to see temperatures rise. but severe weather tomorrow again starting at 4:30. new data coming in overnight. >> thank you. coming up, usa moving up.
