this weather moves in. here is a live look at georgetown pike. we will be monitoring the roads and weather all afternoon. >> emergency cooling centers have opened up with ac and water. >> there was a disturbing discovery in a district. a body found inside a burning trash can in the trinidad neighborhood. that is an area that has seen a lot of positive change in recent years. that is where we find reaction from people who live there. pat? >> this was supposed to be a big luxury condominium. now it's a crime scene. it happened in this driveway behind the vacant house.

this is where they say someone stuffed a body into a large green trash can and then set it on fire. the body they say burned beyond recognition. this is the woman who saw the smoke and called 911. >> it's just scary. it's scary. i mean, you just fire back. it's spooky. the neighborhood is not like it should be. >> there was a promise of condos here but it never came to be. for nearly ten years people in the neighborhood say this has been a problem property. a cut throat a hang out. drinking, drugs, all sorts of things going on here. green ones, black ones, white ones. neighbors say some bad things have happened here but nothing like that discovery this morning of the burning body in that

the dc mansion murders was here on a green card and immigration agents didn't know about it. police arrested wint back in march for having stolen property. his fingerprints were run through the fbi data base but the evidence was not turned over to immigration until the murder last month. wint was born in gee ya that and was in danger of losing his green card because of prior arrests. >> new surveillance video shows just how chaotic and scarry it was inside the plaza metro as it started filling up with smoke. the board wants to know exactly what happened and how metro responded to this. adam? >> a full day spent analyzeing

the tragedy. communication was poor and precious minutes may have been wasted. what happens next is telling. trains continue to pull in and out of the station with the thick smoke. we know metro wanted the train on the right to keep moveing in a tunnel away from the smoke. >> the 61-year-old woman later died. written testimony states i got people on the train saying they can't breathe. they're coughing and vomiting. i need to get back to the platform. that operator was told repeatedly to standby. we now know metro was trying to

move the train back to the platform but there wasn't enough power to do it. the elect call third rail and smoke happening that day was overwhelming. >> that video where trains are continuing to go through the station even though there's thick heavy smoke, does that prove to you that there was miscommunication going on between a lot of people? >> that's the reason i asked the question about is there any single person who knows all of that to know what to do to keep the smoke out of the train and to me the answer to that is not yet. >> coming up at 6:00 first responders not communicating with one another. >> a former volunteer paramedic in northern virginia is now facing two charges in separate child abuse cases. timothy ward turned himself in yesterday. he is accused of rape and taking indecent liberties with a child. he already faced charges

involving an underaged girl. he had been a volunteer. ward is being held now without bond. >> nobody will be voting this friday in the house of representatives. john boehner will be leading a delegation to attend funerals in charleston. the last votes are expected by mid thursday. several hundred people outside the state house in south carolina earlier today urging lawmakers to remove the confederate flag. this rally comes just one day after the governor said it's time to take it down. removing that flag requires a two-thirds vote of the state's legislature. critics of the flag say they are confident it could be down by august at the latest. interim leaders applaud the efforts but are interested in the victims involved last week. >> some of the largest retailers are joining walmart and sears in

banning the sale of confederate flags. walmart announced that confederate gear would be pulled. ebay and target also announcing they have plans to remove items. northern virginia bureau chief says last week's supreme court ruling gives statefficials the authority to act. >> visitors come to the battlefield park to soak up civil war history but they are also keenly aware of the con contemptorary debate that now symbolizes racism and hatered. >> i hate to see anyone use a symbol to encourage hate. >> the governor announced he will begin the process of stripping the flag off of the license plates. in the wake of the church

massacre, the flag has got to go. >> this commonwealth does not support the display of the confederate battle flag or the message that it sends to the world. >> you see displayed everywhere sons of confederate veterans are far and few between. only about 1600 have been issued. this visitor supports the decision but onders if the move will have much practical impact. she says she has never seen the plate. >> i appreciate the gesture and i'm a fan of this no longer being the symbol of southern pride or whatever it is that people consider it a symbol of, i don't know how much of an impact it will have beyond the immediate look what we're doing. >> this mississippi man said he didn't understand the hurtful image of the flag until he attended college at ole miss and now thinks that the place is in a museum. >> symbols are important.

a coffin washed out of the ground filled with water. >> i wanted to make sure my mother was all right. >> herbert came out to be sure that his mother was all right after seeing our story. >> the first thing i did was try to get in touch with them and i didn't get no response back so that's why i came up here to find out what was going on. >> a viewer sent these disturbing pictures to news 4. a cemetery spokesman had more answers about how this happened. >> do you think that it was one coffin that was displaced in the storm from saturday? >> at this point. >> the spokesman said no other graves were disturbed and they are working to reach out to the family. yesterday chris gordon discovered tombstones in the creek. we visited that location and checked out the retaining wall that is supposed to shore up the grave near the creek. >> we could tell that the retaining wall had been breaking

for some time and it looks like some of these headstones have actually been here for a while. those tombstones were purposely put there and discarded there is what happened? >> right. the fragment ss that needed to be replaced or damaged. it is an area for discarded pieces that needed to be replaced. >> as we started to ask follow up questions, our conversation was interrupted by cemetery security. >> i'm speaking with the spokesperson now. >> i can't have you on the property. >> murdoch said he was told tis mother is not impacted but he is still upset over how all of this has unfolded. >> somebody's needing to get in touch with them. >> we were invited back on the property after we filed that report who wanted us to get video of the heavy machinery that they have moved on to the grounds.

270 and we do have severe thunderstorm warning associated with the storm. the strongest of those storms looks like it's moving just to the south of frederick right now. let's take a look at the map and show you what we're dealing with right now. that one you can hear the beeping. that is for a severe thunderstorm warning. that's for howard county. other portions of carol county just to the west of baltimore. let's go ahead and zoom? i want to noe show you frederick county. they are getting hammered. look at the lightning associated with this. we have got over 116 lightning strikes within the last ten minutes. that's the storm and that helps the next. and then a new warning that is issued for loudoun. that warning issued until 6:00

tonight. right down 85 and along 270. 270 always a mess this time of the afternoon. and as i movehe mat back towards the west, we will continue to move around bruns wick. let's show you what is happening. look at this storm. this storm has just blossomed and look at the amount of lightning with this. a very intense line of storms. a tornado warning and this line goes back from philly all the way back towards western maryland. and this whole system will continue to move into our region. we have got a very busy night ahead. and i want to make sure, stay indoors if you can.

>> the baltimore sun reports that gray died from a single high energy injury. it was likely caused when the police van hit the brakes. the sun has a lot more from the medical examiner's office that his death fits the medical and legal definition of an accident. gray was on his belly when they loaded him into the police van but he may have gotten to his feet at some point. when the van changed direction he may have been thrown into the wall. all six pleaded not guilty today. their trial expected to start in october. she was just two years old and now a little girl is dead after being left in a hot car. we will find out what is next for maryland father who left

in. the clouds are rolling in and it is about to pour. >> let's see where this is going to start. >> that red is a tornado warning. just to the northeast pocket of baltimore county they have had quite turbulent weather. all of these other boxes inside of the severe thunderstorm. here is the line. it is far reaching from philadelphia all the way through areas of west virginia. making its way towards east and southeast. here is what i was talking about. but still i'm tracking this

storm system here away from frederick county. there could be some high winds with this. carol highlands in the next couple of minutes. and the rest of that line just north of damascus in jonesville it's south, southeast towards germantown. if you are in any of those locations and you have got the high winds coming up, you see the light ning and want to make sure that you get inside. keep everyone safe. stay put. this will be a rough evening for us. the storms are just getting started at least with this line making its way to our area. our main threat today here this evening is seeing that of very high winds we can also see hail. we have seen that already around an inch or later.

the torrential rain already slowing traffic down. kand rule out an isolated tornado. exexpect a lot of lightning, too. a tremendous amount of lightning. we're not too sure if the game is going to get a chance to make it. first pitch at 6:05. we start cooling way down. the kind of winds we will get, around 60 miles an hour or later. mainly the high winds and hail just to the north of an area of pennsylvania. a look at your fore-day forecast. high heat that will be right behind this one. could see some showers late thursday. some weekend rains coming our way. right near the coast. mostly saturday afternoon rain heading into sunday.

>> reporting in maryland megan fitzgerald. police officers accuse managers of the washington va medical center of placing hidden cameras inside the busy facility. >> a new lawsuit includes allegations of hidden cameras inside a changing room used by male and female officers. scott mcfar land broke this story this afternoon and shows us the camera that officers say were used. scott? >> just 24 current and former police officers were suing the police chief, its director and the va itself. they say those cameras were used to secretly record conversations. this is a picture of what the officers say is one of those cameras. they are accused of hiding and
