amounts and outlook for severe thunderstorms. >> first, breaking news into the live desk. the supreme court's historic ruling means same sex couples have the right to marry anywhere in the couples. gave and lesbian couples can already marry in d.c. and 2736 states but now the 14 states that banned same-sex marriage will have to get rid of their bans. it violates the constitution not to grant major to same sex couples. justice kennedy writing in the majority opinion the constitution promises liberty to all within its reach. dissenting chief justice roberts said this court is not a legislature. this is the most significant change in marriage law since the supreme court struck down ban on

all friends from a high school who had just left a house party just down the road here. broken tree branches, tire tracks in the dirt, a badly damaged fence. all left after a horrific young man came buy and left a stars and stripes bandanna in memory of his friends. >> i wanted to see what happened. >> reporter: this woman's son was at the party with the teenager boys from the high school. he's a mess. police say two 18-year-old passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. a 17 and 18-year-old, one of them the driver, are in the hospital in serious condition. this woman who didn't want her face on camera heard the crash and saw the car in her driveway. >> to the neighbor's front fence and then came over and then hit some branches of the trees. i don't know how many trees, and then landed on our driveway.

the south eastern part of the country near lion france. the company, ire products is u.s.-owned and based in allen town. here's what we can tell you. a man was decapitated during this attack. he was a local businessman and he was also the suspect's boss. now, two flags with arabic writing were found near his body. they still have to be analyzed the writing. two people were wounded in the attack. a car rammed through the gate at the front of this plant, hit gas canisters there causing a huge explosion. this happened at about 10:00 in the morning. one suspect was arrested. there are investigators, believe, other accomplices and they also think they were trying to blow up the plant. the suspect known to authorities previously was investigated for terror-related trvt but that sur

it will end the uncertainty hundreds of thousands of same sex couples face from not knowing their marriage legit mat in the eyes of one state will remain if they decide to move to another state. this move be strengthen our communities by offering to all loving same sex couples the dignity of marriage across this great land. in my second inaugural address, i said that if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another membership equal as well. it is gratifying to see that principle enshrined into law by this decision. this ruling is a victory for

plaintiffs in the case. it's a victory for gay and lesbian couples who have fought so long for their basic civil rights. it's a victory for their children whose families will now be recognized as equal to any other. it's a victory for the allies and friends and supporters who sent years, even decades working and praying for change to come. and this ruling is a victory for america. this decision affirms what millions of americans already believe in their hearts. when all americans are treated as equal, we are all more free. my administration has been guided by that idea. that's why we stopped defending the so-called defense of

marriage act and why we were pleased ben the court struck-- when the court struck down a part of that law. that's why we endhave don't ask don't tell. and we expanded hospital visitation rights and we've made real progress in advancing equality in ways that were unimaginable not too long ago. i know a change for many of our lgbt brothers and sisters must have seemed so slow for so long, but compared to so many other issues, america's shift has been to quick. i know of americans of good will continue to hold a wide range of views on this issue. opposition in some cases has been based on sincere and deeply held believes.

small acts of courage that millions of people across decades who stood up and came out, who talked to parents, parents who loved their children no matter what. folks who were willing to endure bullying and taunts and stayed strong. and came to believe in themselves and who they were. and slowly made an entire country realize that love is love.

tracie potts is live now outside the court with more on what's happening there. tracy. >> reporter: it is really crowded. there are people and demonstrators, supporters crowding this entire block. cheers went up at the decision was announced. as you said, it was a split decision decision decision, 5-4. let's talk about that. as people were cheering and talking about this ruling inside it was very apparent that there was a split on this court between the liberals and the conservative vote. the swing justice voted and writing for the majority saying the right to mary is fundamental which is what supporters had argued. he said same sex couples have ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. the constitution grants them on that right. on the other side, frustrate

opponents who will go back to the 14 states where marriage between a man and a man or a woman and a woman has been banned. and push to have this enforced. it may not be completely over. there are efforts in those states, likely, we're told to restrict the issuance of marriage licenses based on religious objections. while it has largely been settled by the u.s. supreme court, it's possible we may see more challenges as those 14 states that had decided to ban same-sex marriage, try to fight this ruling as best they can. >> tracie potts at the supreme court. the site of a huge celebration this morning.
