terrible turn and you will see what had people running for their lives. tonight heartbreak in a montgomery county home. a relative finds two people shot in a flooded basement. we just learned both of those victims have died. darcy spencer is live in chevy chase where it happened. >> reporter: this tragedy unfolded in the house behind me on connecticut avenue. montgomery county police confirming two victims died a. 29-year-old mother and her 4-year-old daughter. they were both electrocuted here in the basement. a woman and her young child suv suffered an electrical shock here in the chevy chase area in montgomery down pea. a torrential rainstorm flooded their basement and a family

member came home and found the victims. >> firefighters arrived on the scenes in minutes, and they transported the mother and the child to the hospital, and they were both priority ones. >> fire officials believe the shock was connected to the sump pumps in the basement. investigators are checking to see if there could have been a problem with the pump that led the waiter to be energized. >> the floor basement was saturated in the water. >> neighbors we spoke to also have pumps in the basements and are concerned something like this could happen. >> my parents have not mentioned anything about it but it's

worth looking at now. >> reporter: a firefighter suffered an injury and the identities of the victims have not been released and autopsies will be performed to determine exactly how they died. live in chevy chase, and back to you. the wind and rain that swept through our area was so strong, some of you told us it felt like a twister. these are just a few of the pictures that you have been sending us as the storms came through. the water rose quickly in some areas and completely swamped the road and winds knocked down fences, and a garage and some trees. over in gaithersburg you can see drivers trying their best to plow through some of the flooded intersections and others thought better of it and looked for another route around the water, and officers have been out

warning people about the pockets of standing water. chuck bell shows us what to expect for the back half of the weekend. >> yeah, chris tomorrow will be a better day, but we have to get through the next couple of hour first, and flood warnings remain up for most of the metropolitan area. here we are on the map and you can see the highlighted areas in green here and these are the areas where flood warnings remain intact for most of montgomery county, and howard and an 1 to three inches of rain are already down, and the ground already saturated. not much rain in the metro now but thunderstorms down southeast of the metro area moving our way so we are not done with the rain threat in the overnight hours tonight. temperatures in the 60s to near 70 now and your sunday morning will be a quieter one. temperatures in the 60s rising in the 70s, and sunshine coming back tomorrow and more on that and the week ahead coming up.

police cancelled an amber alert for three children in prince georges county. the boys and their mom have been found unharmed. when police issued the amber alert last night police says a woman and her sons had been violently abducted by the boy's father and disappeared in the honda odyssey, and tonight the mother and the boys are okay. new at 11:00 in frederick a. boating trip turns deadly. the frederick news post reports nine people were on a boat when it went over the dam. rescue crews saved eight people and took them to the hospital but they are trying to find the body of one boater. two of the people from north

potomac in a plane crash as part of an alaska cruise. and police searched a cabin last week and found dna that matched sweat and matt and somebody broke into another cabin three days ago and in that one they only found matt's dna. federal agents not and killed sweat on friday and they are still looking for sweat in that area. and then investigators say a minivan crashed into a camry. it happened at a house on

shots . tonight we are getting a clearer picture of what happened in tunisia. terrified tourists were running away from the shooter, and he got through the hotel lobby before police put him down. 39 people were killed in that attack. in south carolina, three more victims of the charleston church massacre have been laid to rest and all three were remembered in funeral services. mourners honored the lives of cynthia third and sanders and susie jackson. tonight the confederate flag is flying over the south

carolina state house again after an activist climbed up on a pole and took it down. the woman claimed she was doing what lawmakers failed to do but she broke the law. the flag is protected by south carolina state law but since the church shooting there have been called to remove the flag from public places. an explosion rocks a water

plans will cover their husband or wife. across our area flood erodes and poor visibility made for dangerous driving. take a look at vienna, and police had to block off the area to stop drivers from trying to plow through the road, and it looks like it's standing water and one driver thought the same thing and quickly got in trouble. >> he was trapped in the car and he was able to get out, nobody was injured but there is 1 1/2 to 2 inches of flowing water. >> it didn't appear as as much water, and we got halfway and the car stalled. >> the police tweeted the water is receding on a lot of folks in fairfax county, and there are still a lot of waters and that ground was so saturated that water will take time to go down. >> when you can't see the road

you shouldn't be driving on it because you never know how deep that water is, and it only takes 18 inches to float a car off of a highway and down into the creek bed. when you see the high water out there, we see it over and over, turn around and don't drown, it's not worth the risk of whether you get stalled or washed out completely. more flooding to be dealt with between now and when you get up on sunday morning. it's been a warm june but has it been a super soaker of a month for the month. bwi marshal over 12 inches of rain, and reagan national, the wettest month in washington since 2008, and we are closing in on the record for june set back in 2006. rainfall today, copious amounts of rain and widespread, two to

three inch rainfall totals all through the metro area, and up and down the corridor. swan point kathleen burke a lot of very strong winds and potentially a tornado as well taking down trees and branches and ripping down gutters off of some of the houses there in st. mary's county, so a tough weather there. this pickup truck hit high-standing water on the road, and you have a false sense of security and you think you have a four wheel drive and think you can make it and it flipped on the roof. and four-legged friends had to do dog pedaling out there in the water. what to expect for tomorrow. sunshine coming back. breezy at times tomorrow afternoon and temperatures are going to stay notably cooler than average, and by comparison, low impact, becoming sunny and breezy and a nice day for

tomorrow. 71 in washington, and temperatures mostly in the mid-60s in the suburbs to 70 in town, and tomorrow from morning to afternoon, sunshine increasing as the day wears along, and temperatures climbing into the 70s to 80, and the best part of the whole weekend, grilling out in the backyard on a sunday afternoon. storm 4 radar, pressure west of pittsburgh now, and it has the potential to cause trouble late tonight. this cluster is about 15 to 20 minutes from make it into fredericksburg, and then eventually into southern fairfax county. don't rule out a rumble of thunder or two, and more heavy rains moving out to i-81, and it's part of the weather system we will be dealing with. flood warnings remain in place so a lot of high water out there, and turn around and don't drown. showers coming to an end between

that's just beautiful. spirit wins it 1-nil. and returning to the place where it all began. he won a super bowl with the new england patriots this year and today he held a football camp in maryland. over 180 kids attended the camp others were on hand to help out. he is just grateful to get back to the place he calls home. >> i always told myself, i want to be that great example as well and to be in the position it's humbling to give back and putting on a camp where it all started. >> it's nice to see my kids come back home and the kids are out here enjoying themselves and that's what i want to see, the faces of the kids out here smiling and enjoying themselves on this nice day.
