miles south of the bored we are new york state. he apparently had been shot in the head twice. nbc's jay gray is live now. >> reporter: search is over. shot by new york state police a few miles from the can needad canadian border. how long is it? >> can you get a little bit closer to the camera? thanks. >> reporter: the manhunt ended in constable new york two miles from the canadian border when officers closed in on escaped killer david sweat and opened fire. more than 1200 police and federal agents have been focused on the thick woods and rugged terrain in this area of upstate new york after sweat's accomplice, richard matt, was killed friday by an agent with the u.s. customs and border protection tactical unit. as sweat fights for his life in an area hospital, an autopsy report released today indicates

can do to keep your family safe. news4's darcy spencer live now in chevy chase, maryland where she just learned the names of the victims. darcy? >> reporter: jim we are going to get to that safety information in just a moment. first, yeah, montgomery county police confirmed the names of the mother and daughter who died right here at their home in chevy chase yesterday afternoon. they are 29-year-old crystal pewter ball and her 4-year-old daughter lily. we want to show you some video of what a such pump looks like, there is interesting how this can be avoided. a lot of people have such pumps in their basement. they were electrocuted outside their stairwell andmp pumps in their basement.

early this morning after he saw a car going about 80 miles an hour, weaving all over the road. that car overturned near the ramp to middle brook road. it ended up about 15 woods. maryland state police identified the driver as michael steven bolton from frederick maryland. he died at the scene. the liftoff -- >> access for future american rockets. that liftoff was a success but the mission failed spectacularly. spacex's falcon 9 rocket broke up in that fiery blast minutes after it launched today. on board was a cargo capsule headed for the international space station. this is the third fail your of the space station resupply mission in eight months. >> this is a blow to us. we lost a lot ofh equipment on this flight. >> we will all pick ourselves up.
