49-miles-per-hour gusts in calvert cliffs area. with that warning in frederick county, maryland, almost 1 inch hail reported in middletown. we've got another line that is going to be moving in. fauquier county rappahannock and culpeper point. from now until 4:00 a.m., pockets of heavy rain. i'll tell you what you can expect for your morning rush in just a few minutes. breaking news just in to the live desk right now. a prominent black church in south carolina is burning. it's about an hour outside charleston. right now i can tell you the information is limited here is what we're learning. the fire is in greeleyville. now these are some pictures of the scene posted to the website of an nbc affiliate in south carolina. the fire may have been started by lightning from a storm that rolled through tonight. but they're not going know for sure until that fire is out. the same church was burned to the ground in 1995 by the ku klux klan. and we're now hearing that atf, federal atf agents are now on

the scene. you see the pictures. again, posted to an nbc affiliate there in south carolina. we're going to follow this story throughout the night and have the latest for you on news4 today. >> chris thank you. new tonight, a memorial for two high school graduates killed in a violent crash last thursday. classmates gather tonight at wooten high school in rockville to remember calvin lee and land merck. news4's darcy spencer live now with some strong words from the wooten principal tonight. darcy? >> reporter: well, jim, news crews were not allowed inside the vigil which was held right here inside the high school. we're told the parents of both students who died were in attendance. and the principal here at the high school does have a message about this tragedy. students and parents walk in to wooten high school for an emotional memorial service to remember two recent graduates killed in a violent crash last week. herb singh attended with his

granddaughter. >> we do things what can be some bad consequences. but this is life. >> reporter: michael doran is the principal at wooten. he says he worries what can happen to teens between high school graduation and the start of college, like when this wreck happened. >> they're not yet at college where there is routines again and it's kind of a time when they're at loose ends. they feel invincible. and that 100 days or whatever it, i wish we could just put them in a box and not let them out. >> reporter: the teens crashed just before midnight after leaving an underaged drinking water. calvin lee and alex murk died. murk would have left today to start college at penn state. lee was headed to the university of maryland. >> what i don't want to be is hollier than thou either. we have to have kids better understand to make good decisions. this seems like a no-brainer until you're 16 or 17. >> reporter: the driver of the car, sam ellis, was a football standout at wooten and was headed to usc. he was critically injured but is

expected to be okay. another passenger walked away unharmed. doran says is there is only so much schools can do to prevent this type of tragedy. >> another thing, it's not a school issuement they're not drinking in school. they're not driving in school. they're partying outside of school. so it's a community and a parent issue. i think we're part of the solution, but we are not the problem. >> reporter: and he also adds that grief counselors will be available throughout the summer if students need that. montgomery county police say all of the evidence from their investigation will be turned over to the state's attorney's office. that office will decide if any charges ar to you. >> darcy, thank you. investigators now say that a maryland toddler who was found dead in a swing had been there for nearly two days. a medical examiner ruled that ji'aire lee's death was a homicide caused by dehydration and hypothermia.

police found the toddler's mother pushing his lifeless body in a swing at a park in la plata in may. they say he was alive when she brought him there. the child was in the swing for 44 hours until officers arrived. the state's attorneys office will decide if charges are going to be filed. new at 11:00 tonight, we've got a warning for you tonight in loudoun county. the sheriff's department tells us tonight there has been a rash of break-ins in the ashburn area. the entry point garages. between june 4th and this past weekend, four different homes have been broken into through the garage. in two cases, the garage door was open and the door from the garage to the house was unlocked. in the other two case, burglars got garage door openers out of unlocked car, opened the garage doors and went into the homes. ♪ now at 11:00 an event called honoring the road of love

and justice. it celebrated the supreme court's decision legalizing same-sex marriage around the country. the service was led by a transgender baptist minister. new tonight they're pulling the plug. davis djs. after 40 years in business in washington is now out of business. and they're leaving some of their customers with no refunds and very little in the way of explanation. news4's jackie bensen spoke to one couple whose wedding bill just got more expensive. >> now the new mr. and mrs. jones. >> reporter: since 1975, davis deejays under the leadership of owner bill davis has been the go-to for weddings and parties in d.c., maryland, and virginia. >> it's like all these different commercials on the radio. >> reporter: that's why caylee and rob of centerville, virginia were shocked to receive this letter from davis yesterday telling them the company had pulled the plug on its business. the couple's wedding is just a month away.

and the letter made no mention of refunding the $1,000 they paid davis when they signed a contract months ago. >> a wedding is so expensive. everything that goes into it, the flowers, the cake, the food everything is expensive. so when you're paying somebody all this money, you're expecting them to give you the services and then now you're out money and out a deejay. >> reporter: word quickly spread on online review sites like yelp, with brides lamenting about having to find another deejay weeks before their weddings. several also noted they had not received a refund. most made an effort to contact davis with no results. in service. >> reporter: e-mails bounced back. their facebook page has been shut down. i spoke tonight to a deejay who contracted for davis. he too is left high and dry by this news. he too said he had no explanation for why it happened. jackie bensen, news4.

oh it was big crowd at national harbor tonight watching the u.s. women's national team beat the world's best at the women's world cup up in montreal. team usa topping germany. they move on to the finals sunday. jason is here to show us how they did it. it was something to see tonight. >> it really was jim. the women's national team had their best performance of the tournament tonight. the last time the americans played germany, the winner of that match has gone on to win the world cup. team usa looking for back-to-back trips to the world cup final. we'll pick this up in the 67th minute. we're scoreless. the united states on the attack. alex morgan with it. and she gets taken down. the ref said she was inside the box. the yellow card comes out. that's a penalty kick. carly would take the pk. call her carly clutch. three goals in her last three matches. the united states added another goal to take this one by a final score 2-0. so the americans await the winner of japan and england. that match taking place

tomorrow. doreen? >> jason, thank you. developing right now we're working to learn more about a major announcement expected from president obama tomorrow. a senior administration official confirms to nbc news the u.s. will restore diplomatic relations with cuba. that means cuba will reopen an embassy here in washington and the u.s. will open an embassy in havana. the president will make the official announcement with secretary of state john kerry tomorrow morning. on our nbc washington app tonight, you can see all the new laws in maryland and virginia that will take effect tomorrow july 1st. we went through all of them and are breaking down the ones most important to you tonight. in virginia college police will now have to notify local prosecutors they're launching a sex assault investigation within 48 hours. in addition, women can now breast-feed anywhere in the commonwealth, as long as the mother is there lawfully. and employers can no longer ask employees or perspective workers for user names or pass words for

their social media accounts. in maryland, the biggest impacts you'll feel is behind the wheel. tolls on bridges and tunnels dropped significantly, just in time to get away for the fourth of july. bay bridge rates dropped from $6 to $4 if you pay with cash. e-zpass will pay $4.50. and tolls will drop for e-zpass users on tunnels and bridges in and around baltimore. doreen? the arlington county school board plans to take up the hot top pick of gender identity tomorrow. board members will consider a proposal to add gender identity to the nondiscrimination policy. the proposal would impact teachers and other employees and would prevent arlington public schools from discriminating against transgendered candidates in its hiring process. fairfax schools recently made headlines after passing a similar policy. next at 11:00 tonight metro considers a big change to its schedule that is going to impact

here at the live desk we are pouring through 3,000 pages of hillary clinton e-mails that were just released in the past two hours. a few former obama administration officials may have some explaining to do. this is about former white house senior adviser david axelrod said he didn't know clinton used a private server when she was secretary of state. axelrod said he would have been concerned and asked questions. but back in 2009 he asked for her personal e-mail and wrote her. other white house officials used it as well. but the question is did she know she was running it off a private server from her home? since the state department is releasing these private e-mails in batches we may not get to the big questions over benghazi for a few months yet. jim? >> thank you chris. republican presidential candidate jeb bush is making an unprecedented move tonight. he has posted 33 years of tax returns online for everyone to see. bush paid an average federal income tax rate of 36% over the past three decades.

he says that's more than hillary clinton, despite earning less than her. bush has an estimated net worth of between 19 and $22 million. meanwhile, you can see part of matt lauer's newest interview with new jersey governor chris christie tomorrow morning on the "today" show. tonight on the fbi has issued this wanted poster for a bold robber who held up a bank in broad daylight. the robbery happened around lunchtime at theton trust bank on u street next to the metro and right across from ben's chili bowl. police believe the man got away by hopping on a metrobus here is closer look at this guy. he was wearing a fisherman's hat and neon yellow construction vest. some of you will think this next idea is great. others will be unhappy. metro is bog to present plans tomorrow to cut back service on four rail lines in order to speed up service on the crowded blue line. under the proposal, fewer trains will run on the orange, silver

green, and yellow lines during peak hours. in turn, more trains will run on the blue line. this would cut down the wait time for blue line passengers from 12 minutes to eight. metro says the changes are meant to alleviate a bottleneck at the rosalyn tunnel. you might see more american flags than usual this weekend at the daytona speedway. the track is offering a flag exchange. nascar fans can trade a confederate flag for an american flag at the race. nascar banned the flag earlier this month. but track officials tonight say they can't call for an all-out ban this weekend since fans have previously purchased tickets. right now, the first ever camp-out is under way at the white house. michelle obama is hosting 50 fourth grade girl scouts on the south lawn. it's part of her let's move outside initiative. the group got a surprise visit from president obama. he sat in a circumstance well the girls around lanterns at

dusk. earlier in the night, the campers did rock tying knot tying and tent pitching to earn new badges. the girls also did some stargazing. and you know they made s mores right? >> there will be some rain coming in. a little bit. it's going to be brief. they'll go in and come back out. while we're talk about rain for the overnight dry by tomorrow morning. but plenty more rain chances before the week is out. let's take a look and see what is going on storm team 4 radar. you can see the dark red that is a flash flood warning. go right up to that area right now. you can see we do have some more rain moving just to the east and southeast of maryland-pennsylvania line. the flash flood warning until 1:45 in the morning. that's for areas of maryland to frederick county, virginia, includes jefferson and berkeley. and then down to the south of our area look at this, we've got some more rain coming in to

rappahannock charlottesville, around southeastern areas of virginia, northern neck. i think that's going to slide right on over southern maryland by around 3:00, 4:00 a.m. in the morning. here is your future weather. midnight 2:00 a.m. in the morning. still pretty good rains coming through westminster, around quantico stafford too. by 4:00 5:00 a.m. in the morning, most of the rain should be east of the area, and will even start clearing out a bit. so for road surfaces early tomorrow morning, it is look dry. now roads could be just a little damp in some areas. but we're not going to have any rain falling. afternoon is looking dry. evening is looking dry. so it's a green light. as a matter of fact, we're not expecting any rain tomorrow. but it comes back on thursday. we've got 78 degrees out there right now. your morning rush, we'll see temperatures move from the low 70s to the low 80s. it's going to be a fast rise in temperatures tomorrow. lots of sunshine as we take it up to around 90 to 91 degrees.

again, no thunderstorms for tomorrow. so the impact forecast for tomorrow is going to be low. hot and humid, yes. and we're going to have some warm conditions around 2:00 for the fourth of july weekend. the water temperature at 73 degrees. showers on tap for friday, july 4th. we're at 82. 83 degrees for sunday. here is a look at the rest of the workweek. 60% chance of rain. i think that rain could come in early with a few thunderstorms. and then leave out by friday morning. your fourth of july 85 degrees the high temperature. some areas could hit 90 down to our south. but by 8:30, 9:00 when the fireworks go off it's indeed right now looking dry. extended forecast for sunday and beyond. we've got highs in the mid- to upper 80s expected with another chance for some more showers and storms next tuesday. so a little bit of wet weather coming back into the area at the end of the week. tomorrow, though, dry. we've just got to get this rain out of here. >> looks like july to me.
