there, kevin mill road or veirs mill road. >> reporter: mellissa good morning, we are here at georgia and shorefield road. road crew trucks are behind me. nationally much worse at this point. they still have to repair the work here. there was a gaping hole left in the road by this massive watermain break incident. now, crews have finish and have fixed the broken water mane. at the height of this, a river of water just flowing down the road, spilling some 2 million gallons, flooding some homes, businesses, waterlog and cars that were parked in the area. they are telling folks to avoid the area t. repair to the roads still has to happen. so the could be a tough spot for commuters coming through this

morning. there is limited travel on the northbound lanes, mel lisa, what's the latest on the work around? >> the latest on the work around is you will have to use kevin or veirs mill. other problems around town, right now 95 southbound has late clearing road work. they have a 2-mile backup. so a warning there, a wide look at the beltway looking quite good. some of that earlier road work is out of the way here. everything is rolling along quite nicely. tom. >> the pavement is dry throughout the metro area. there is a live view this morning. you see the washington monument there. it turns more humid. we also have showers filling up and they're headed into loudoun county and frederick and

overnight. you are looking at some of the video of flooding in that area yesterday. it was big time flooding. traffic on georgia avenue rerouted between shorefield road and arcola avenue. a man now in baltimore police custody for a huge fire. i was there as they tried to clean up the fire. police say that raymond carter torched that store during the protest over freddie dpra's death. they put out a warrant days ago and arrested him last night. >> he is a criminal who took advantage of our city when we were most vulnerable. carter's actions cost over '01 $1 million of damage to this community. >> police say there are at least eight other people they are looking for in connection with violence in that city. soon baltimore police will

get new riot fear. stephanie rollins make says officers were not properly equipped. about 160 officers were hurt. the mayor has not said how much the upgraded equipment will cost. in a story you first saw here on news 4, the family of a 102-year-old woman that froze the death wants some answers. they are suing for $10 million. in this home, her home, after a snowstorm in march. the family says they have set up a service without notice. attorneys for the family say an investigation into her death was never carried out by the gas company. now the family is turning to city officials for answers. >> it's definitely disappointing for me to hear. i was told directly they were going to conduct an investigation and we still want answers as to why that took place. why her gas was in fact, cut

captive. at some point the victims were killed and their house was set on fire. went was arrested one week later. so far he is the only person charged by some dna evidence found on a slice of pizza in that house. prosecutors said they believe others are involved. now this new attorney is also required or got the assistance of an immigration lawyer and wentd was born in guy anna. he is not a u.s. citizen. he will have to face deportation. he will be in court later today. >> it has happened again, a shark attack on the north carolina outer banks. this is the seventh confirmed attack in three weeks. in the latest attack, a pan was in the water when a shark grabbed him. he managed to swim to safety.

it is a shark attack or shark bite. obviously, everybody got out of the water. >> none of the attacks is fatal. there are no plans to close beaches this holiday weekend. they think the increased number of attacks may be related to the unseasonably hot june. a safety alert this morning if you use the four mile run trail in arlington him they found a petroleum product in the water yesterday morning. so don't sit or wade in the stream. the dog park, keep in mind is right in the center of this contaminated area. we are working right now to find out when everybody will be safe. there is one more step the d.c. council is taking to get started on a stadium for d.c. united. our news partner says the council approved half a dozen land and development agreements. they need to acquire two acres

of land. they say they have until october to buy that land or get it through eminent domain. the fairfax time says the park authority is making plans to build a major event. it would have five diamonds and a press box and concession stand. good news for parents in loudoun county two more elementary schools will offer full day kindergarten. they voted for new classrooms and paid two few teachers at forest grove and sterile elementary schools. loudoun county is one of three school tms systems that do not offer a full school day to every kindergartener. a family that lost their home to a fire is finally getting a brands few home. we introduced you to them a couple weeks ago when they were taken in by a welcoming military family of six.
