when he didn't show up. >> unfortunately that's how we came to find out what happened. >> reporter: news 4 learned spires was arrested july 2nd just two days earlier. he grabbed a man's neck on the 500 block of wisconsin avenue and kicked officer who responded. the u.s. attorney's office said there wasn't enough evidence to hold spires in jail while police continue to investigate sutherland's murder they say they are pleased officers made an arrest. >> after i heard, i felt better but it doesn't bring him back. >> reporter: now tonight jasper spires is charged with first degree murder while armed. he will have his firm court appearance tomorrow. >> a brazen attack leaving a man in critical condition may have also been a robbery gone bad. this happened yesterday near the intersection of north capital and n streets northwest.

a 52-year-old man from alexandria walking down the street when the suspect grabbed him from behind and threw him to the ground. it is not clear if the two knew one another but witnesses say it looked like the suspect was trying to steal the man's cell phone. >> patient care will continue tomorrow at walter reid national military medical center in bethesda. the entire campus was put on lock down today after reports after sixth gunshot sound from an employee in the high rise tower. police found no evidence that any shots were fired and it is the second time in less than a week that fears of a shooting forced an inch by inch search of a local military facility and it comes amid heightened concerns about terror attacks around the globe. news 4's jackie benson is in bethesda with more on the heightened state of alert. jackie? >> someone today called it the new normal. the law enforcement response to reports of shots fired at two major military facilities in the

give to women and cosby enlisted his agent to funnel money to women. going to court to get this deposition unsealed the judge agreed because cosby dawned the public of moralist. with raising children, family life education and crime. cosby's lawyer said this would embarrass him and the judge said why would this embarrass him, his own version of the facts. cosby has never been charged with a crime. >> chris, thank you. hundreds of people have signed the petition now calling on renowned d.c. chef to dump trump, donald trump. petition on change.org says that he should back out of his deal to open a new restaurant at the future trump hotel in the old post office pavilion in downtown d.c. all because of recent comments the presidential candidate made about mexican immigrants.
