a local family tonight is trying to track down the person who shot and killed two of their dogs on their farm. you may have seen this on your time line today. the farm owner posted that he found his son's labs shot to death after reporting them missing over the weekend. he said the dogs were friendly and known to everyone who visited the farm. we have put the farm's original post on our nbc washington facebook posttoday. half a million dollars. that's bond for a maryland state trooper who is facing sexual assault charges. police say brian tucker was off duty when he met a woman in a parking lot and agreed to pay for sex. they went to a nearby cul-de-sac where a woman told investigators that tucker put a gun to her head and forced her to perform a sex act. tucker tried to hide the gun in

his backseat. we're told that gun was not his service weapon. >> a new audit out this month shows virginia law enforcement agencies have more than 2300 untested rape kits. it found that a quarter of the untested kits were not submitted because they weren't needed for evidence or in some cases because the suspect confessed. but nearly a quarter found that the victim did not want to participate. the two week search for a 14-year-old girl is finished with finding a convicted sex offender. the two were hiding in the woods and were breaking into homes for food after dark. ben shook is 41 years old and is described as a sexual predator. the 14-year-old girl willingly left with him after meeting on

back here. they're seeing rain. for us on the dry side today, tomorrow we will see this rain not talking a lot. i don't think we will see chance for flooding tomorrow in our region but it's something to keep our eyes out for. the cloud cover not expecting rain. it will be dry. those storms should move fairly quickly. not too worried about the flooding issues. not anticipating any severe storms. so if you ear heading out tomorrow may need to play a little golf. i seriously doubt i will be in this range. i think i will be in the 90s.

abandoned baby is found in a stroller on a busy downtown sidewalk. >> this exclusive video you're about to see of a police officer comforting that baby across from the court of appeals. mark was nearby when this all unfolded and shot that video on his cell phone. >> i understand you just got off the phone with new information about this baby? >> that's right. i just got off the phone with the police. we have video of a woman who was arrested about a block away. now they tell me that woman has degree cruelty to a child. they do not know the relationship between the woman who was arrested and the baby that they found on that sidewalk. the original report came in about 12:30 for an abandoned baby. as you can see when i got there

the baby was still in the stroller being comforted by a police officer on the scene. we are now told that that child is in the custody of child and family services. they have not located the parents. but again the woman who was arrested about a block away is not apparently the mother of that child. she has been charged with cruelty to children. >> was the baby crying when you came up? what did it look like or seem like there? do we have any idea how long it may have been there on that sidewalk? >> the baby was there for at least a half an hour and police were there for most of that time. i got to tell you, the baby looked just fine and according to the fire department, no injuries and nothing life threatening. the officer as you can see in that video was doing a great job of playing with the child, smiling at the child and the child was smiling back at the afrs.

three months after settling a wrongful death case fairfax county has a new policy to handle hostage and barricade situations. officer adam torres said he thought gear was reaching for a gun. gear did not have a weapon. under the new rules, police are to contain the situation unless someone's life is in jeopardy and they have to consider the lives of hostages, innocent bystanders and fellow officers. negotiations or attempts to communicate should be done from behind cover and they can call in special resources if necessary. former redskins quarterback donovan mcnabb is in the news and arrested for under the influence. it was determined he was
