maryland, this area is all the way into areas of west virginia. most of our storms will be between 7:00 p.m. and midnight. with them high winds and for sure some downpours. as a matter of fact, much of our viewing area shaded in green is under a flash flood watch until 2:00 a.m. so, the storms come through and they will be slow moving and some could produce as much as one to two inches of rain. we have got the severe thunderstorm for areas. they are eastbound to areas of winchester ask just north of i-81. in the springs you can get another look at that line of storms once again.

weather risks what we're most at threat for. i have got more data coming in and i will be back. >> all right. thanks. now to an unsolved case prompting new action tonight a local reporter was used as a human shield during a shooting in southeast dc. her killers are still out there. and it's how they got away that led to calls from leaders in the city today. she was shot and killed in may. police tell tus gunman was riding in a group of 14 dirt bikers and was trying to shoot at someone in another group of riders. now a councilman wants to crack down on anyone riding atv and dirt around the district.

>> good afternoon. city leaders. they say well fight what they consider a huge problem. >> atvs, mopeds and dirt bikes are illegal in dc but riders get away with speeding through city streets sometimes in large groups. dc police have clear orders not to chase them for public safety reasons and residents have pleaded with the city to do more to drive them away. >> i really suggest to these folks that if you do so the consequences are going be severe. >> the bill requires riders to register with the department of motor vehicles and if you're caught in any public space with an illegal bike you could go jail and pay big. first offense, 30 days in jail $250 fine or both.

colefield road. the driver got out okay but the investigation is ongoing. one lane is still blocked so it's a good idea to avoid the outer loop at this time. during an appearance on wgop's radio ask the mayor today, a woman called in to voice concerns about riding the train as a single female in the middle of the day. she asked this question of the mayor. >> what can i expect from a safety standpoint to combat these situations that should make me feel comfortable traveling on the metro in the middle of the afternoon, you know, by myself. because it is pretty alarming. >> news 4 will have the mayor's response what police are doing to keep everyone safe. >> they helped police. >> and a good look at the latest

and greatest body camera technology. david? >> i have been watching the local law enforcement walk into the expo center there. they are meeting with vendors right now. to give you an idea of what the body camera image would look like. right now you can see what we're looking at. so police on the street they will have the body cameras looking on this direction. the biggest issue is going to be taking all that data storing it and organizing it. >> there's been a growing push for more of these views. first person on the street with the officer capturing all sorts of confrontations. local law enforcement now moving forward with their own body camera project. >> this is the next big thing

vanished in 1975 from a mall in whaet wheaton. investigators have been searching a property for the past year but they have not said what if anything, they found. police are now looking for a man they say tried to kidnap a girl. they say the girl was waiting for the school bus on springtide place yesterday when a man in his 30s walked up to her. he offered her money to go with him but she walked away. he tried to forcibly get the girl to go with him and she fought him off. and a woman said she was a loving paraphernalia who didn't believe in corporal punishment. her son died after being beaten on july 5. garcia's current boyfriend is accused of delivering the blows after an argument over a piece

of birthday cake. wilson, garcia and her brother are all charged in connection with jack's death. >> he is staying in jail but the man convicted of killing shadra leavy will get some free time. it was ruled that he will stay in jail with no bail while waiting for retrial. he was convicted in 2010 of killing leavy but he was awarded a new trial based on questionable testimony from a key within. and a man accused of terrorizing his neighbors for years. the man turned himself in on friday. police tell us he threatened to hurt himself. he's now under police watch. last week we reported that he was on the run. one of his silver spring neighbors says pictures show him tearing down his fence. he has been convicted of purgery

and obstruction of justice. he could spend up to four years in prison. right now iran's historic nuclear deal is being celebrated by some attacked by others. after years of negotiating, iran has agreed to limit its weapons program. we have a look at why this agreement remains very continue verseial versial. some are skeptical that it's dpoing going to make iran less of a let. in return,ran gets a big payday, possibly in the billions of dollars when sanctions are lifted. before that happens, iran has toey have kept up their end of the deal. israel prime minister thinks this is a big mistake and says giving iran any money will only make things worse and a lot of american lawmakers are deal.

hello everybody. right here in maryland. they're on the warm side for more. >> we will continue as you move on through. we do have a couple of stronger storms that we will continue to track for you. let's show you what is happening right now. what we have gotten here across our region. we've got a nice little breeze. temperatures around the rest of the area into the mid to upper 80s across the region right now. most of the region not seeing

anything as far as storms are concerned. severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:45 and that is what we will continue to watch for sure. notice where the storm is going be heading. areas just to the north eventually this will move in towards the panhandle of western virginia. the second round of storms will be back towards the farther west. that's the round that we have a better chance of seeing potentially widespread behavior. we will see the potential any storms could be strong. now this is not a line of storms. these will break up as they move on in. but this is what we're thinking.

we do have the flash flood watch until 2:00 tomorrow morning. really the high winds and flash flooding will be the issue. as you can see here as well as northern portions you notice the flash flood watches as well. plenty of sunshine. we will see beautiful conditions late in the afternoon. no worries. maybe an isolated shower but that's going be about it. the next seven days beautiful on thursday and friday. swre got our next backyard weather coming up on thursday and friday. can't wait for that.

tense moments captured inside a metro station between manager and passenger. >> the guy who recorded this video says it all began when he asked if his daughter could use the bathroom. we talked with the man and metro today. she's live. megan? >> reporter: this all happened in the station just behind us here. the passenger who didn't want to be identified said shortly after he asked for the bathroom for his 4-year-old daughter things started to esska late. the video only shows a portion of this incident.

my daughter and i were going. >> they were waiting on the platform until his 4-year-old daughter had to use the restroom. they went back down stairs to ask the stag manager for assistance. >> i reiterated that i was only looking for a restroom and he began to yell at me. >> michael says the employee told him the bathroom was being cleaned. >> i don't know why this had to be so hard. >> sir, don't talk to me like that. >> michael shot the video of the employee escorting them to the bathroom anyway and things started to kaes late. >> what's your name? >> don't touch me! don't touch me. >> you cannot use the restroom. >> you just disrespected me. >> get away from me. you don't yell at me in front of my daughter. >> metro police responded but no criminal charges were filed.

emergency crews were able to rescue more than 50 others over the 24 hours. most were stranded inside buildings and cars. about 150 homes are now destroyed. >> this video shows one of those homes you can see the roof as it slams into a bridge. this was captured on cell phone video in kentucky. cars also floated away. kentucky is under a state of emergency right now. the threat of more storms today made search and rescue efforts tougher. >> much of our area under a flash flood watch.

the colorado movie trial is moving ahead towards the end. prosecutors are trying to convince the jury that james holmes is a cold calculateing killer. the defense says he was having a psychotic episode when he killed 12 people inside that movie theater. >> new york city and the family of eric has agreed to settle a wrongful death lawsuit for nearly $6 million. garner died after an officer used a choke hold to arrest him. his last words on video were i can't breathe. >> they deserve to be prosecuted. i think they give animals more respect than humans. >> the city of new york does not

winchester around wardensville. there could be more storms starting to fire. these eastbound towards berriville. yes there has been some lightning with these but nothing like the lightning i'm seeing with the second line coming into and through areas of west virginia right now. most of these in the central and southern part of the state. a lot of storms will be passing to the south. we will talk about how much rain we will get out of them. it will be stormy up until about 11:00 p.m. to midnight. meanwhile the flash flood watch covers the area until 2:00 a.m. i will have more on the new data coming in.
