first on the scene. he tweeted out these pictures of the massive police response. it had an impact on metro riders. traffic on georgia avenue there, and the nearby westfield wheaton mall. >> more on the shootingn and two people being questioned tonight in all this. mark? >> reporter: that's right. take a look behind me. this is the wheaton metro station. it has now been reopened. if you look around the corner, right across the street here is the parking garage. that is still an active crime yssñ scene. still shut off, and police are still on the third floor there looking for clues. we can tell you that this all happened about 7:00 this evening when police reported shots fired. the victim an adult male was shot multiple times while inside this metro garage across from the wheaton metro station. he was rushed to a local hospital, but police sources tell news4 the man has died. >> the investigation is continuing and ongoing,úeérñ and that is really all that we have that we're allowed to release at this point in time.

>> reporter: police searched the garage and the area around the metro station and the area near westfield mall. sources say a gun was located. two men were taken into custody. police initially said they were stopped for questioning. while police would not confirm the two men who we saw taken into custody as suspects, they did say there is no active search for a gunman. >> what can you tell residents in this area? should they be concerned that there is a gunman loose in this area? >> i would say they should not be concerned at this point in time. >> reporter: moments ago, montgomery county police told us in fact that those two men who we saw taken into custody that you saw that exclusive video of, they are being questioned as persons of interest. but that's as far as police are willing to go tonight. they say they hope to be able to release the identification of the victim tomorrow morning, as well as more information about the two suspects. as for the metro garage, it remains closed. several people still have their cars in there. it may be until tomorrow morning before they can retrieve those cars. reporting live in wheaton, mark segraves news4. >> thank you, mark. new video of the clouds and

storms that rolled in over northern virginia tonight. matt in leesburg sent us this time lapse video. but a lot of you missed out on the storms. doug, so the watches are starting to come down? >> yeah we saw the flood watch come down earlier. the lightning boom, right there coming through the leesburg area. we want to thank matt for sending that in through twitter page. we did have the severe thunderstorm watch. that was canceled about an hour ago. we're just not seeing the storms firing up in our region. just not seeing that severe weather threat. but we are seeing a resurgence of a few storms here too. let's take a look and show you. we saw a lot of storms moving through, and then it kind of died out. watch what has been going on over the last hour. look back toward the i-81 corridor. notice back along i-81, the storms really starting to fire again. i'm not expecting anything severe here. but we could see some very heavy downpours around martinsburg. winchester around towards front royal. i do expect more storms to fire around northern virginia in towards the d.c. metro area over

the next couple of hours. so we're not out of woods as far as rain is concerned. the potential there for heavy rain but the severe weather threat way down. i'll show you what is moving in next. finally finally something we're all going to love. i've got it for you. >> sounds good. thank you doug. a maryland delegate is facing charges of indecent exposure and trespassing tonight. our news partner wtob says delegate ariana kelly is accused of exposing herself after getting into an argument with her ex-husband's fiancee last month. kelly was reportedly upset to find the other woman at her ex-'s home in bethesda maryland when she came to drop her children off. her ex recorded the incident with a cell phone. will aggressively fight the charges against her. kelly represents part of montgomery county. here at the live desk, we're tracking the unmanned mission to pluto. in the last couple hours, a message arrived at mission control in maryland letting nasa know the new horizons spacecraft

overcharging, the district is looking for a new school food vendor. earlier today, chartwell school dining services informed the d.c. council that it was pulling out of its contract. just last month, the vendor paid $19 million to settle a lawsuit accusing the company of overcharging the city. chartwell says it would continue to provide service until the district finds a new vendor. mayor muriel bowser issued a statement tonight saying the district would explore all legal options. maryland governor larry hogan is expected to endorse chris christie for president tomorrow. christie's campaign confirms it will have a special announcement at 10:00 a.m. at the tt diner in indianapolis. christie and hogan are friends and the new jersey governor played a big role during hogan's campaign for governor of maryland last year. it's a historic deal, but in no way a done deal. congress now has 60 days to review the nuclear agreement reached today between iran, the u.s., and five other nations. it eases sanctions on iran while

putting limits on the country's nuclear production for ten years. lobbying has already begun to win congressional approval. president obama says he'll veto anything that kills the deal. the white house is also working to win an endorsement from the u.n. two days before he becomes the first sitting president to visit a federal prison, president obama is asking congress to reform the criminal justice system. in a speech at the naacp convention today, he focused specifically on nonviolent criminals and said in too many cases the punishment doesn't fit the crime. >> if you're a low level drug dealer or you violate your parole you owe some debt to society. but you don't owe 20 years. you don't owe a life sentence. >> the president also said the taxpayers are paying the price to keep so many people in prison for so long. they're being tested in departments all over the country, and soon they could be as common as those dash cams on police cruisers. but police body cameras are

still evolving, forcing cops to deal with privacy issues and how to store all that video. news4's shomari stone shows some of the latest technology on display tonight in fairfax county. >> reporter: tonight many police departments from across our area are examining new body camera technology. here at the dulles expo center in northern virginia. >> with a single touch of the button on the side over here, you can actually record what we call stealth mode. >> reporter: gary nichol is a sales manager for reveal. he shows us the late e technology. >> and what that will do, that's going to turn off the front-facing screen as well as the blinking light and you can continue to record. >> reporter: many law enforcement agencies in our area started to look at body cameras after the michael brown shooting in ferguson, missouri. the recording devices capture exactly what an officer sees when interacting with a suspect. >> and the video cannot be deleted. so it keeps the evidential material intact and keeps it very secure.

>> reporter: but there is still some issues in regards to these cameras. for example when does the police officer turn it on? is it always on? what about privacy? these are some issues that we asked the consultant about. >> there are privacy laws that are ready to restrict the use of certain data. >> reporter: jet winborn is the ceo of winborn consulting. he says police have to work with the government to make sure cameras don't violate privacy. >> so the state legislature has to come up with guidance on that. and they are. >> reporter: and some departments are look at the best most secure way to store the data. despite the privacy concerns, many departments and civil libertarians applaud the body cams. in chantilly virginia, i'm shomari stone, news4. a developing story we'll be watching very closely tomorrow. police plan to release quote, significant developments in the disappearance of the lyon sisters. we'll told montgomery police and authorities from bedford county, virginia will be there. we'll send you an alert on the nbc washington app as soon as we know what happened.

sheila and katherine lyon, as you know, vanished from wheaton back in 1975. investigators have been searching a rural property in virginia for months now in connection to that case. a jury of nine men and three women will decide the fate of james holmes. one of those jurors escaped columbine high school during the mass shooting there in 1999. closing arguments wrapped up just a few hours ago, and a judge picked which jurors would deliberate. attorneys argue holmes was insane when he killed 12 people and injured 70 more inside an aurora, colorado movie theater. prosecutors, though say holmes could still tell the difference between right and wrong, and they are seeking the death penalty. next at 11:00 the teenaged girl who survived a plane crash and walked for two days back to civilization. her doctor just gave an update on her condition. a local hospital testing new hires for tobacco use. your answer when we ask you if a person should be kept out of work for smoking. and breaking news just in

grandparents in a small plane. she says they ran into bad weather and crashed into the side of a mountain in washington state. she survived two days in the woods and made it down to a main road where drivers spotted her. the doctor says it's remarkable the 16-year-old had only minor cuts and burns, although she was severely dehydrated. >> i think she made some wise decision what to eat and what not to eat. and that may have also contributed to her health as well, making good choices out there. >> he says she didn't have any water on her, but drank whatever natural sources that she could find. at the live desk, i'm chris lawrence. don't touch me! >> you cannot use the rest room. >> my daughter police! >> you disrespected me. >> a metro station manager is facing discipline for this confrontation with a passenger. the man who recorded this video says his 4-year-old daughter just needed to use the bathroom. the manager originally told him it was being cleaned, but then decided to let him use the rest

cathedral. the monument way in the distance. still very warm. on the mild side for sure. 83 degrees. winds out of the south at 7 miles per hour under cloudy skies. all those taylor swift fans lucked out tonight. no rain around the stadium earlier tonight down at nats park. they were all dry. look what has happened over the last hour. not a whole lot and then boom, showers and thunderstorms developing back to the west. now they're starting to get rather strong. very heavy around martinsburg, in and around portions of berkeley, shepherdstown. and winchester. you follow this around i-81, in and around front royal. these are areas that have seen heavy rain over the past few days. heads up. never drive through any flooded road waist. what we're going to continue to see, this is a little system a spinning system making its way in here. you have another one, look at this little spin in the atmosphere. any time you see these spins, it helps create lift. it helps to create the storms. you can see the line forming along that one area of spin here that will move on through the d.c. metro area, most likely

a landmark store especially for kids in manhattan closes its doors for good tomorrow fao schwartz flagship toy store on fifth avenue is shutting down. even if you have never heard or been to new york, you may remember this scene from the movie "big." apparently the rent at that location just too expensive. the store is trying to find another manhattan spot that is not as costly. >> people buy toys online now.
