alexandria this morning. 66 looking pretty good. 95 you're slow near dale city. otherwise, no major problems taking a look at dw parkway, 95 rolling along just fine there. back in ten minutes with travel to show you. new this morning, suitland parkway totally reopened after a deadly crash overnight. someone hit a woman on that road. d.c. police say the woman was changing the tire when a blue pickup truck hit her at around 10:15 last night. the truck then crashed into a lexus. police arrested the driver and completely opened suitland parkway in the last hour. developing in wheaton, things are getting back to normal after a shooting in the wheaton metro garage. one person is dead and we're waiting to learn that person's identity. news4's derrick ward joins us with what that means if you need to park in that garage today

derrick. >> reporter: well, you will find that the garage is indeed open. but you'll also find more cars than usual at this hour a lot of motorists came back to find back that their cars were part of a crime scene. this happened at 7:00 last night. montgomery county police and metro transit police responded to a call here at wheaton garage for shots fired when they got to the garage, an adult male had been shot. that person died. now, there was a search of the garage and the westfield plaza which is adjacent to the metro garage. they did take two people into custody, people they're calling persons of interest. and a short time after that montgomery county police said they need not worry about a gunman on the loose. we do not know the name of the victim. at the height of the investigation trains were passing by wheaton station, part of georgia avenue was closed. indeed the garage was closed. all of that has returned to normal. again, we're awaiting the identity of that fatal shooting that happened here in the

ahead, jury deliberations are expected to begin in the deadly colorado theater trial. james holmes is accused of killing and hurting people in 2012. prosecutors say holmes was legally sane at the time of the shooting. the smithsonian is distancing itself again from comedian bill cosby as you know some of cosby's personal art collection is on display at the national museum of african art. today, the smithsonian plans to hang a sign saying that the exhibit is about the artist and not a tribute 0 cosby. the museum recently decided to keep the art up despite allegations by more than two dozen women thats could de committed sexual misconduct. on to decision 2016. this morning, larry governor larry hogan is expected to endorse chris christie for president. the two have been political allies. christie campaigned with hogan last year and he's been wearing a hogan strong bracelet since

hogan announced he's fighting cancer. christie's campaign confirms, quote, a special announcement today, as his event at the double t diner in annapolis. former governor martin o'malley is doubling down on president obama's immigration policy. o'malley says if he wins the presidency, he will expand the use of action to perform documentation of undocumented immigrants. he said he will conduct more visa waivers. and he also says he will grant people eligible for deportation access to health care. the president's health care law does not allow that access. virginia lawmakers may have to return to work for a special session this summer. and race will be an issue. right now, lawmakers are trying to redraw the state's congressional map because judges say the map reduced black voters' influence. "the washington post" reports that governor terry mcauliffe says if lawmakers aren't give more time to redraw the map,

iran. he's heading a press conference today at 1:00. nbc's tracie potts is live with us from the hill. tracie, how does the president plan to build support? >> well, first of all, by getting the details out, he knows he can do that in a wide ranging news conference than he can in a ten-second sound bite. make no mistake, even know lawmakers on the hill typically don't attend these things, his message for them today is intended for them. they will be the decision makers deciding whether to accept or reject the terps of this deal. they've only got 60 days to do it. all of that skepticism on capitol hill especially the republican leaders. we heard john boehner saying he's going to do everything he can do stop this deal. john mccain says he thinks it's the worst deal for america. and they will not stop iran from building a nuclear weapon. there are democrats obviously supporting the president that he hopes enough to help him sustain a veto. he already said if congress

statement saying appropriate action is being taken. bethesda's representative in the maryland house of delegates facing trespassing and indecent exposure charges. montgomery county police arrested ariana kelly a few weeks ago. wtop says they was dropping her children off at her ex-husband's house. his fiancee was there apparently and those documents say that the fiancee being there upset her so kelly started arguing with them and then flashed them. big budget cuts come into montgomery county and they're affecting a lot of public services there. we've learned how the fire and ems department will be impacted. the fire department needs to cut nearly $4 million out of its budget this year. they say future recruitment classes will be delayed until next year. another proposal would limit overtime for medics. they will take recertification classes while on duty. d.c. is warning residents to

wheaton metro station on the red line. there was report of shots fired. they found an adult male who had been killed. now two people were taken into custody. they've been called persons of interest at this hour. at the height of the investigation, georgia avenue was closed here through this area near the garage. this morning will you find more cars than usual, some people left their cars overnight. again later this morning we should know more about that incident and what led up to that shooting. by the way, this is the second crime-recommended fatality at metro this month. of course, back on july 4th a person was stabbed on a red line train as it pulled into the tags station. today, there's a public safety meeting about the recent violence in the noma neighborhood. that meeting is at the lobby project at 1st north east.
