s death of a landover woman. the charles county sheriff's office charged darrell wilson with first degree murder with the death of crystal anderson. loved ones reported her missing in 2011. a hiker found her remains at a charles county park in 2012. in march police also charged 22-year-old raymond posey iii for murder in connection to this case. we have some developing news right now about former president george h.w. bush. this morning he's recovering after breaking a bone in his neck. this happened during a fall at his home in maine. our affiliate station in portland maine reported yesterday that bush is at maine medical center. a spokesperson says the former president is doing okay. he will have to wear a neck brace though when he leaves the hospital. bush is 91 years old and is the oldest living former u.s. president. right now, a store in bloomingdale's neighborhood is closed for one year. the electronics store is closed after allegedly selling synthetic drugs. d.c.'s attorney general says the

northwest store was a site of multiple synthetic drug seizures and an employee was shot there and it may have been related to a drug sale. the owner of that store is retired d.c. police officer. last week, mayor muriel bowser signed a law to allow police to fine or close those stores selling the synthetic drugs. middle of july and it feels amazing outside. >> i can't believe how refreshing it is. i dare say cool, because it is july, right. >> we can appreciate that. tom kierein with look at the day ahead. >> yeah, it is cool compared to this time usually we're in the sweltering 70s. right now a partly cloulydy sky, but the haze and humidity is gone. here we are in upper northwest washington, about five or six miles away from the washington monument, but we can zoom the monument in. there's the jefferson memorial. a beautiful morning underway.

top of the beltway colesville, no major issues. i will be back here at 4:41. always weather and traffic on the 1s. your time is 4:33. today, the 21-year-old accused of killing nine people at the historic black church in south carolina will be in court. dylann roof has a hearing this morning and the judge will decide whether to release more documents in the case. the judge sealed the documents to protect roof's right to a fair trial. they include 911 calls witness statements and reports from a medical examiner. that's according to a station there. right now the search is on for the driver who dragged a police officer with his car in prince george's county. the officer approached the driver in district heights, maryland, last night and the officer became caught in the door and then he sped off with the officer.

the officer is expected to be okay. right now, folks who live in one neighborhood in d.c. are concerned about a growing crime wave in the noma neighborhood. now, since the fourth of july weekend the fast growing neighborhood has reported three murders including a young political aide who was killed on a metro train. neighbors voiced their concerns and they say the murders are the beginning. they're also dealing with increased street prostitution. >> it will be a much more cop certed area so that children don't have to step over or picking up dirty condoms and latex gloves in front of their schools. it is totally unacceptable. it's the highest level of the police department and yet it continues. >> they're promising there will be more patrols in the area. later this morning frederick, maryland, will find out who the new top officer is. the new police officer chief

will be announced. we'll send you an alert when that announcement is made. right now, president obama is in oklahoma where he plans to visit a federal correctional institute. this is first time a sitting president has visited a federal prison. he is there to press for justice system reform. he has talked bluntly about this issue. in just a few minutes we'll dig deeper on what these reforms would look like and how they'd affect people in and outside of the prison system. a widening project moving forward to fix a major commuter bottleneck. part of route 606 in loudoun county is already four lanes. this morning, transportation officials are going to break ground on a five-mile section of the road that will be widened. the expansion will ease traffic toward the airport and metro's new silver line. the project costs $106 million. here is something to note, three lanes will be closed on

the outer loop of the beltway in montgomery county. this is happening over the maryland 185 exit. lane closures begin at 9:00 tonight and all lanes reopen before the friday morning rush hour. the road work will continue until the concrete on the bridge is repaired. if you are headed to dulles today, you may see a group of flight attendants ticketing the baggage claim area. they're calling for united airlines to negotiate a fair contract. this is one of 16 protests taking place. the protests beginning at 11:30 a.m. 4:36 now. a dispute between a food vendor and a school. the dining services planned to break its contract with dcps after settling a lawsuit between them. the school's attorney says the vendor cannot do that under the contract terms. chart well wanted to leave as early as this fall but may have to provide lunches and snacks for next year or longer.

welcome back. maryland governor larry hogan is returning to the hospital this weekend for a second round of chemotherapy. the governor has stage 3 non-hodgkins lymphoma. according to "the washington post," doctors plan to increase hogan's treatment because of the strong response to round one. health officials in liberia have ordered an investigation after a second person died from ebola. even though the country was declared ebola free in may. that he made some pretty candid comments about race when he was asked about the bill cosby case and typically he doesn't comment on on on going cases and he made that disclaimer and then he said this. that anyone who gives a person a drug with the intent of having sex with them without consent, that's rape. that's coming from president obama who as you know was also an attorney previously. now he's getting a lot of comments about just what he said about that. this was a news conference that was designed to defend the nuclear deal in iran and while he did talk about that, it was the cosby comment that really got all the buzz here in washington. today, we'll watch as he heads to oklahoma to switch gears and talk about federal prison reform. eun? >> tracie potts live on capitol hill, thank you. this afternoon, vice president joe biden heading to the hill to try to build consensus around the iran nuclear deal. he is meeting with skeptical

senators from his own party. yesterday, he spoke with house democrats. president obama staunchly defended the deal with iran in a press conference yesterday. saying it is the best way to prevent iran from developing a nuclear bomb. congress has a 60-day window to look at the agreement. a north carolina man wanted in the murders of his wife and stepdaughter may be hiding in this area. court documents show billy joe mclain kidnapped his teenage stepson and firefighters found his wife and 13-year-old daughter's bodies in a burning stanford apartment. authorities believe he fled to d.c. or maryland area. he was last seen driving a silver 2001 ford win star van. a large crowd gathered to remember a waldorf man killed in accokeek. friends and family used white candles and balloons to remember him. he was shot shortly after leaving the party early sunday

morning as police search for his killer the owners of the home that hosted the party are facing a fine. prince george's county police say they were selling tickets to the party which is illegal without a permit. brand new video of someone stealing from a library in d.c. d.c. police say the man stole several computers from the deanwood library. take a look here. he cut the wires holding the computers down and takes them to the window one by one. the burglary happened on saturday june 20th, at about 4:00 in the morning. police are offering a $1,000 reward in this case. we expect learn today whether investigators can look at actions taken by governor scott walker's staff during his 2012 recall campaign. the question is whether walker's campaign staff illegally coordinated with conservative groups during this recall. walker denies the charges. the recall sparked by anger over walker ending collective
