4:46 pm
tennessee. nbc's dave wagner is standing by live in chattanooga with the latest. we understand the fbi is now investigating this as a possible case of terrorism? >> reporter: they are. and in fact, they have been fairly consistent about that saying that they were approaching this as possible domestic terrorism here. fbi technicians, they have spgn( the entire day processing two crime scenes one right here at the armed forces career center and i counted 48 bullet homes in the front there the other crime scene is about seven miles away from here. that is where those four marines were killed. it is really a sad and surreal scene in this community here for people who live here. they have been putting out flowers and balloons and american flags here. i talked to a woman named sally briar. sally was out here yesterday morning. she dropped off her stepson inside the armed forces career center yesterday morning, was sitting in her car when all of a sudden, she saw a silver must tapping pull up a convertible, with the suspect, the gunman inside.
4:47 pm
she says he pulled out one gun and began to spray the front of building, load it up again, sprayed the front of the building again. so again, you understand why there are, you know, 48 bullet holes in the front of this building. you know he then traveled seven miles from here and ran through the fence of a -- of a marine reserve center there and then got into a gun fight there. and ended up being shot. we do not know if he shot himself or was shot by police but we do know that's dead. another piece of interesting information here, nbc news has learned that he traveled to jordan last year. now he has taken trips to jordan in the past shorter trips but last year, went for about seven months. his father is from jordan so in some respects that is not surprising, but the fbi is interested in finding out if he took any other trips to the middle east during that trip to jordan. so, a lot of information coming in right now. we can also tell you that he had at least three guns a rifle, a shotgun and a handgun with him
4:48 pm
when he committed these crimes here. the fbi beginning to release a little information hour by hour. >> thank you, dave. and we are tracking every development in this investigation and we will bring the latest as it comes into us here and we will have more on news4 at 5 and 6. and "nbc nightly news" as well. we will have updates on our nbc washington app as well. sudsenly it was just all trees and then it was fire. >> well, those could have been the very last things this 16-year-old girl ever saw, but she is now speaking out after surviving a small plane crash in the state of washington. calling her brave really doesn't do her justice. she was smart and resourceful as well. autumn veatch was flying home with her stepgrandparents when her plane went down in bad weather. on saturday, she texted her boyfriend, "if i die, remember i love you." ought tim's grandparents did not survive the crash but she was able to walk to safety after two nights alone in the woods.
4:49 pm
>> i was really shocked. my instinct was to go straight down hill and i got the surge of will power around there's no way i can die without hugging somebody again. >> autumn finally found a road in the woods and followed it to get help. >> that's pretty incredible story, ment is it vj? >> amazing. we are look for some hotter weather tomorrow? >> well, i'm not looking for it but it's coming. i would rather it stays off to the west, but yeah, we are going to have to deal with some heat, just looking back through the records, our longest heat wave that this area has seep or at least the last really long one was back in 1988, july and august, where we went 21 days where temperatures topped out over 90. got some clouds now, kept temperatures whiten cool side, even giving us some sprinkles just off to the west. you can see them there. storm team4 radar coming through frostburg. and there could be some more coming our way very late, i think, around 9 10 11 p.m. or
4:50 pm
so. so it is all about tomorrow and beyond. look at the temperatures across the area expecting around 92 leesburg 95 in d.c. 93 fredericksburg. and we factor in the humidity, it certainly is going to be a scorcher out there. that is going to have a big impact on health. you will notice you might be more tired, more fatigued could suffer from heat exhaustion or cramps. remember to hydrate. going to be a strain on our power bills, htoo, coming up the next couple of days. the a c will be running full force. just 95 degrees, whily we tell you never to leave the kids in the car or the pets. at 95 degrees, the temperatures will really rise very quickly, just 10 minutes in a closed car, the temperatures at 114. 20 minutes, quickly up to 124 degrees. unbelievable. scattered thunderstorms, showers and storms on saturday. 94 degrees. the temperature on sunday, 96 with hazy sunshine. so while sun state dry day, also the more extreme, even more oppressive day for us.
4:51 pm
let's take a look now at your car wash forecast a lot of folks wondering, is it okay to wash the car? i think as scattered as those storms are going to be on saturday, i say go ahead and wash it i'm washing my car. the four-day forecast 96, sunday, 95 monday, 92 on tuesday. wednesday, 94. 90 and 92. and while we get a little bit of break from the humidity, just a little, tuesday and wednesday, it's still going to be quite a scorcher out there. we have got more on the impact that this heat will have on our area on news 4 at 5:00. >> thanks vj. want to jump in here with breaking news, get back to david culver live in manassas, that convoy carrying the bodies of four mar convenience passing by. david? >> reporter: chris we knee convoy has taken the exit off 66 to 234 prince william county parkway, the con voice, if we can show you the chopper shot right now, chopper 4 above it as it's making its way here into prince william county. you will see four black suvs
