obtained the full 1,000 page deposition that the quote came from. it provides graphic details of cosby getting seven prescriptions for quaaludes so he could give them to women and then have sex with them. according to the deposition transcripts, the comedian said "quaaludes happened to be the drug that kids, young people were using to party with and i wanted to have them just in case." cosby has not been charged with a crime. crime concerns in the district after three people were killed since friday night. six different crime scenes left others wounded. the city is grappling with a spike in murders compared to last year. darcy spencer is live in northwest where at least one resident says the police need to be more visible. >> reporter: we are live on 14th street where there's a very vibrant night life.

but just down this street early this morning a man was shot and killed and that has some neighbors here asking police to do more. >> the bars and restaurants on 14th street in northwest d.c. draw big crowds on the weekend. but just a block away on riggs street between 13th and 14th street, a man in his 30s was gunned down saturday morning. >> i want to see police on these streets walking these sidewalks. >> reporter: jeremy peters lives on riggs and he says there have been a number of violent incidents. >> if people knew there were this many violent incidents happening steps away from one of the busiest pedestrian night life areas in the city they would be alarmed. >> reporter: police identified the victim as 33-year-old charles douglas. he lived in prince georges county. he was the third homicide in the district overnight this neighbor

had no idea it happened? >> too close for comfort. it's scary. >> reporter: d.c. police statistics show there have been 77 killings in the districts so far this year compared to 65 at the same time last year. that's an 18% increase. >> people walk the streets and we're out late at night and you just kind of think it's not going to happen this close to home but i didn't realize that these things are happening literally in my backyard. >> >> reporter: council member kenyon mcduffie issued a statement that said this spike in crimes is unacceptable. he plans to hold a crime meeting later this month. back to you. >> darcy spencer thanks so very much. new at 11:00, a semi truck driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel before plowing into members of a maryland motorcycle club. members of the black eagle riders, some from our region were on their way to a rally in atlanta. they were stopped on the shoulder after one rider had a

problem with their bike. that's when state police say the truck driver ran off the road hitting all six cyclists. a man with from wood bridge was killed. the driver of the semi kept going until he blew a tire half a mile away. he's been charged with felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor death. death. >> the death toll from thursday's terrorist attack increased by one today. neff vi navy pet navy navy petty officer randall smith died from his injuries. authorities are still trying to figure out about the man who shot smith and four marines. that i searched the family home but their investigation is complicated because the gunman had both american and jordanian passports. seven cars deliberately set on fire and tonight the hunt is on for whoever is responsible. according to fairfax county police, the fires were lit at around 4:00 this morning all of

them in centerville concentrated around the little rocky run neighborhood. right now investigators don't know if the same person is responsible for all of the fires. the county fire marshal's office is joining in this arson investigation. two demonstrations right outside the loudon county courthouse one with the naacp demanding a memorial that commemorates the union army's actions in the leesburg area. then, just yards away, a group of people showing their support for the confederate flag. you might have expected anger or argument, but quite the opposite happened. the naacp wasn't asking for removal of the confederate monument, it wants a union monument added. and one of the confederate flag supporters says he's all for a union monument as well. a flight bound for d.c. forced to make an emergency stop in california. the sudden strike that happen airport officials scrambleingscrambling. some drivers returned free

the maryland transportation authority police is praising several drivers who returned money that flew out of an armored truck wednesday night in the boston harbor tunnel. authorities had said you could return the money by 5:00 with no

questions asked. now investigators are going after the folks who didn't return the cash. police say they will take appropriate action against those individuals. there's going to be a pot-growing contest at d.c. state fair this year. as you know, the district legalized small amounts of marijuana earlier this year. people are allowed to grow the plants at home. the state fair is holding this contest for the first time. people will be judged on their plant's appearance smell, and touch. the fair showcases culinary and agricultural talents as well. that will be held on saturday september 12 for those of you that would like to mark your calendars. well the heat is on. lauren will have the latest on the big warmup headed our way. that's after the break. and donald trump takes. the war of words that has the gop leaders accusing the

national airport had to make an emergency landing in l.a. today. the alaska airlines plane was struck by lightning about a half an hour after taking off from l.a. international airport. even though the boeing 737 is designed to withstand lightning the plan returned to l.a.x. for a maintenance inspection. after it was checked the flight was canceled. the passengers never realized the plane had been struck. how do you like that? >> well just like summer right? storms and lots of heat. >> and they were actually -- the reason they had all that lightning and thunderstorms in southern california, it's because of tropical storm delores. so that is what's going on in the pacific. we haven't had anything here, thank goodness to deal with, but we are dealing with the heat unfortunately. not necessarily storm, hall though i believe we'll be begging for them tomorrow. let's go to our weather map to show them what is going on, the hottest stretch of weather headed our way for tomorrow and monday and tuesday and even into really all next week we're going to be right around 90 after we

get into wednesday and thursday. that will be a cooldown for us. we have a weather alert on sunday and monday so amelia and the rest of the storm team will have you covered. we could see storms possible but what we're talking about is the heat, yes absolutely. and you know it will be hot, spes leshl we temperatures at 11:00 around 80 degrees. 82 in washington 75 in manassas, 77 in frederick, that's the cool spot. we haven't seen much rain. we've had a little bit north of baltimore trying to get under way. i am watching this coming through ohio and we could see this, a lot of the indication is that this will weaken as it moves closer to us but of course amelia will have you covered in the morning in case we have a few sprinkles tomorrow morning like we did this morning that put a cap on our temperatures. overnight lows, what you see is what you get, probably in the mid to upper 70s. highs tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 90s. and that's why we have this heat advisory issued by the national

weather service for areas east of the blue ridge mountains. the heat index will be anywhere from about 100 to 110. specifically during the afternoon. let's tame it out for you in case you want to head to the pool or you need to get out and do things. we'll start this bright and early. 6:00 a.m. it will feel 83. this is the heat index, that is with the heat the air temperature, and the humidity combined. so we get this number and this is what it feels like to your skin at 8:15. it will feel like 89 in washington. then by 11:30 we're in the triple digit area. and by 4:15 it will feel like 109 degrees. dangerous heat please take precautions when you're headed outside because even tomorrow night it will still be warm. like i said. we won't have much rain to cool us off. maybe a chance for isolated showers. i think a better chance comes on monday for some showers and storms. so hour by hour yeah, it's going to be warm throughout the day and maybe a passing shower in the afternoon and into the evening. so hazy, hot, and humid

you can't win them all. >> clayton kershaw is one of the best pictures in major league baseball and he proved it today against the nationals. a busy day at nats park. the nats and dodgers not a full double header but they made up yesterday's game that was shortened because of a circuit breaker. after that it was the matchup we wanted to see today, bryce harper versus clayton kershaw. these two fresh off the all-star game and they did not disappoint. kershaw has been dominant lately, especially against the nats, five wins in his last five starts against them. he was back at it today. bottom of the first harper at the dish, goes down swinging on a nasty breaking ball. second strikeout of the game ends the inning for kershaw. danny espinoza can only watch. six strikeouts through three innings. he was just getting warmed up. that's the scary part. zikts inning, harper goes down again, bryce with three strikeouts in the game against

clayton kershaw. then yunel escobar is headed back to the dugout. the ninth inning, the national down 4-0 and harper facing a pitcher not named. he delivered this, a two run shot, his 27th home run of the season. nats get within two but that's as close as they would get. they fall 4-2 to the dodgers. afterwards here's harper on clayton kershaw. >> he ran a clinic today. went out there and pitched like the mvp he is and, you know, it was devastating because we tried to go in there and do what we could but he's the best pitcher in baseball so it's tough. >> no lights needed in game one, just a perfect day to resume a suspended ball game. we'll pick it money the bottom of the eighth. tied at three. pinch hitting with a man on den decker going upper deck we areer with this two run bomb.

that gave the nationals a 5-3 lead. in the top of the ninth, two on two out for jock peterson. tried to check his swing there got rung up by the umpire. the nats win the first game by a final score of 5-3. the orioles visiting the tigers. top of the third we are scoreless manny machado at the dish, david price with 12 strikeout bus he made one mistake and it came right there. machado just crushes this ball. his 20th home run of the season. leads the team in homers and awesome hand shakes. birds up 1-0. after allowing a hit and a walk in the first, chris tillman settled down and retired 21 straight batters. james mccain robbed of a hit by jonathan scope. tillman requires 23 straight. later on in the ninth, zach briton retires the 26th straight batter, orioles allow one hit in this game and go on to win by a final score of 3-0.

at the maryland soccer flex the washington spirit had their first start of the season. members of the women's world cup team were back home after capturing the cup for the first time in 16 years. ali krieger and ashleey harris didn't play but they did greet fans. 5,413 people to watch the match. second half, that is laura del rio with the ball. sends it to amanda dicosta. it's 1-0 spirit. later in the 52nd minute dicosta out, diane matheson in a had been of the canadian world cup team. she helps out up the filed. crystal dunn breaks free and scores a dandy. spirit add t another penalty kick to remain undefeated at home. they win this 3-0 over seattle. to mls now d.c. united visiting fc dallas. we'll skip ahead -- actually
