daniel brown. nbc 4 learned the second missing brother is doug brown the co-owner of a restaurant here in d.c. doug and his brother daniel went missing after a swim off cove point beach in lusby last night. daniel brown's body was pulled from the water this afternoon. his restaurant just posted a message on their facebook book saying, it is closed due to a, quote, death in the family. the brown brothers went under water after struggling to swim against the tide. searchers believe that doug brown is dead and will resume search efforts to recover his body tomorrow. we will send you updates on the recovery efforts from our nbc washington app. new tonight, the family of a

volunteer firefighter killed by a drunk driver is honoring her memory in a very special way. autumn marie jenkins' family says it is on an urgent mission to stop drivers from getting behind the wheel and killing someone you love. nbc 4's darcy spencer is in our newsroom now with their emotional story as police crack down on impaired drivers. >> reporter: as you know, autumn was a volunteer firefighter and was starting a non-profit animal rescue group. her life was cut short last april. her family knows they cannot bring her back but they want to make sure you know what can happen if you drink and drive. a dui checkpoint held in the heart of the city dedicated to a 20-year-old who died after allegedly being hit by a driver who had been drinking. >> i have no problem with people who want to drink. but they shouldn't get behind

the wheel and drive. >> reporter: tommy is autumn's dad and says he hopes the checkpoint will educate drivers and send a message. >> maybe we'll will able to remove them off the streets before they injure or kill someone. >> reporter: the family is here with this picture of autumn. they want to make sure drivers know what this checkpoint is all about. jenkins was driving home from a restaurant when the crash happened last april. she was a volunteer with the fire station. that station crew responded to the crash. >> i am touched seeing everyone here tonight. >> reporter: the police roll call tonight packed with family and friends. autumn's fire uniform and helmet on display and the humane society brought one of the dogs she loved from the shelter. >> we have a lot to focus on as far as educating the public on the effects of dripgnking and driving. >> reporter: the family won't stop education efforts here. they're looking into starting a

a few minutes. >> see you then. a house party turned deadly in mechanicsville, maryland, overnight. cody lacy died after being shot at a home there. the sheriff's office has not said what may have led up to the shooting. so far, no arrests have been made. new tonight, sandra bland was buried near her home in illinois today. she's the woman who died in a texas jail three days after she was pulled over for a traffic violation. texas officials say that she committed suicide and that she had marijuana in her system. her family has asked for a private autopsy and they say the marijuana report was just a way of smearing her character. the police officer who first pulled her over has been suspended for violating protocol. president obama's getting ready to address a large crowd tomorrow as he continues a historic visit to kenya. he and the kenyan president covered a wide range of topics today including terrorism corruption, human rights and

with smoke inhalation injuries after this huge fire at the cosmopolitan hotel on the strip. a fire broke out near the roartop pool this afternoon and quickly spread to a cabana and the artificial trees around the pool. it took more than 100 firefighters, nearly an hour to put out the fire and still no word on a cause. hillary clinton says she never knowingly sent or received classified information using her private e-mail server. clinton spoke briefly to reporters while on the campaign trail in iowa. her remarks come one day after investigators asked the justice department to investigate her e-mails. clinton says if any of her e-mails violated the rules it was because they were deemed classified after she sent them. donald trump has taken a break from clashing with fellow republicans and is now in a fight with a newspaper. before today's campaign stop in iowa trump banned the state's

new at 11:00 a two-alrm fire in arlington, virginia. about 7:00 tonight, the fire departmenten responded to a fire reported at a house on washington boulevard. it quickly escalated to a two-alarm fire. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. no one was hurt. maryland archaeologists are working to uncover the history of a quiet corner of upper marlboro that was once the heart of prince george's county. the land has been inhabited by human beings for 10,000 years. the land was known as mt. calvert. the reason people have been drawn to the area is the patuxent river that runs right past it. >> we're able to learn about people that might not have been written about, whether it's because they were in this case this is potentially the area of

again as we get into thursday and friday towards the end of next week. but we have another heat wave upon us. those temperatures are coming on up. in fact we'll see temperatures topping out in the upper 90s by the time we head into midweek. temperatures right now, we're in the 80s right now in d.c. 81 in d.c. 67 in culpeper. here are the overnight lows. comfortable but the humidity will creep in. no rain showers. maybe you got caught in a little sprinkle today. we're going to be dry thanks to high pressure. we're looking good for tonight and through the overnight. and not looking too bad for tomorrow. especially right up until about 3:00. if you want to make outdoor plans, like going kayaking, looking not too bad. we'll eventually rise into the low 90s for tomorrow. it is going to be hot and feel a little bit more in terms of humidity -- a little hotter than it actually is.

let's start this at 6:15 tomorrow morning. as we go through the morning, we're going to be dry. if you want to go ahead and make plans to go out to the pool, that's fine. but about 4:00, keep an eye to the sky. we'll see showers and thunderstorms develop. not expecting a severe break. but some could bring heavy downpours. but we will continue to see some showers and storms all the way through -- i'd say the first part of the overnight. the reason why we have a frontal system moving through our area. its presence will be felt by monday. monday morning that commute will be okay. but on the way home, we may head into a few problems. afternoon storms on monday afternoon. and then as i said, we really start to get hot. humidity around all throughout the week. so our temperature, the feel-like temperature, the heat index, right around 97 on tuesday, right around 100 on wednesday. if not over that. we'll have to watch for heat advisories potentially issued by the national weather service. tomorrow, low 90s.

to soccer we know d.c. united is home to play the philadelphia union tomorrow night. the union's home park was booked this weekend. it's 15.4 miles from the eagles' home and the site of tomorrow's gold cup final. the united states may have been worlds apart because ppl park, the u.s. wanted to be 15.4 miles up the road in the final. so did panama. 1-0 lead until the 70th minute. bradley found dempsey. dempsey's seventh goal in six gold cup games. tied at 1. after extra time, this match would go to penalties. u.s. keeper is up for the challenge against armando cooper. that's good. but the u.s. down to its final kick.
