hello, everybody, just getting my show together here watching what is happening out there with the rain, very heavy rainfall, lightning associated with this portions of loudoun county, a flash flood warning issued up north of baltimore, so, if you're traveling up i-95
5:24 pm
that's one thing to watch. this is what's causing. this 85 degrees, it's warm. look at the dew point, 75 degrees. that tells us there is a ton of moisture in the atmosphere, the relative humidity, way up there. you walk outside, you can really feel it. so, this line of storms coming through is going to have a lot of potential to bring in some of that heavy rain. not near d.c. yet, not near southern maryland fredericksburg, all dre for now, it is already through winchester and martinsburg so, you're just about done, if you have seen the rain, just about over then for you folks. right now the heaviest, look at loudoun county a very intense storm just south and east of the leesburg area west of louden county leesburg, seeing heavy rain, frederick county, around the city of frederick, heavy rain along 70 and 270. this line will continue to move to the east. i want to zoom in, zoom right on into this area here. again, this is just to the west of leesburg here, heavy lightning just west of 15 around the middleburgh region. look at all of that light income just now passing bluemont, a lot of very heavy rain along 15, right along 66, down along
5:25 pm
marshall, as we track, this wouldn't area i'm watching here is the leesburg area, let's go ahead and track this out. try to do this here, see if i can make this happen move out about 30 miles an hour. nope, see if that works for me? yep. there we go. leesburg, around 5:29, poolesville, through maryland now 5:42, toward broad run farms and sterling, around 5:50. these are the areas to watch out for, where the strongest storms are here and this whole line moving off toward the east. one thing i'm not seeing is a southern progression of this line. if this continues, this might just clip the d.c. metro area. if you live in montgomery county howard county, frederick, carol, the baltimore, prince george's county, you folks have the best chance to see the rain and the heaviest rain throughout the rest of the evening. time it out for you, future weather timing it out, pretty good around 7:00, around the gaithersburg area, in through portions of fairfax county, by 78:00 in and around the d.c.
5:26 pm
metro, if it does progress into our southern zones that could actually be where some of the heaviest rain is prince george's county, anne arundel, maybe northern charles. that's right where the game is to the redskins game, unfortunately, i do think we will see some rain there, hopefully it stays just to the north, right now, it does look like it may come on into our area, what we are going to continue to watch. flash flood watch in effect until night fairfax, arlington d.c., prince george's county over toward anne arundel and howard once again until midnight tonight. we do have that warning to the north and east of baltimore right now. we move on through the rest of the evening what are we going to be seeing? some clearing conditions. by tomorrow beautiful. 87 in fredericksburg 84, gaithersburg. the next couple of days, right on into the weekend, looking beautiful, 86 on your saturday, 90 degrees more warm and humid on sunday and monday. monday, high temperature of 93. then we cool again, really nice weather, into the middle of next week, got to get through the rest of the night.

5:34 pm
we see it in cities around the country right now. >> news4's tom sherwood hosted "viewpoint" today airing on sunday morning here on news4. she said there is no quick fix and everybody is looking for one thing. all we have heard about the past week is getting illegal guns off the street. i think sometimes you wonder if that's even possible anymore these days. what else are they doing? >> no politician, no leader will say i can't fix this immediately, a real problem with that, but says the gun violence is from drugs from high-powered guns, from some hot headsetleing scores and neighborhood beefs. there's a lot of problems, the police are out on the streets, but this gunfire just erupting, even though police very close by. they seem to be oblivious to the fact that police are around and don't seem to care. >> the union saying it is because they got rid of their vice squad or vice units and the police chief, cathy lanier, a problem with, saying that is not a problem. >> have more at 6:00 about what
5:35 pm

the jim called the allegations against officer cagle "heinous and callous." imagine what it would be like if this were your barn with a deadly wildfire raging just beyond the ridge. more than 100 wildfires are now burning in seven western states. in washington state fear is mixed with grief now. three firefighters from the u.s. forest service were killed overnight when their vehicle crashed and was overtaken by flames. fire experts say conditions will get even worse later today. >> we anticipate the fire weather today will be worse than it was yesterday. we should have more rate of spread and more acreage burned than we did yesterday. >> meanwhile, oregon governor kate brown met with first responders on the frontlines of a wildfire that's already destroyed nearly 50000 acres and three dozen homes. a deadly fire in quantico. find out what is being done now
