stories. we start with the district eesz 100th homicide this year. someone shot a man on 54th street in northeast. police say the man was shot several times and died at the scene. no word on who may have done this or why. again, this is d.c.s 100th homicide, so far, this year. that's a 36% spike from the same time last year. in fact, in all of 2014, we saw a total of 105 murders. developing in the district, a barricade situation in the brooklyn neighborhood. a man locked himself inside a home on 18th street, shot and killed a family member, a woman in her 60s. he shot her around 11:00 yesterday morning. shortly after a police negotiator tried to make contact with the suspect. neighbors say the suspected shooter is a man in his 70s.

track work. they will be closed through sunday night. three shuttle buses will take you around the stops. we should mention, trains will run every 20 minutes on the red line and 15 minutes on the green line. a firsthand account from american men who tackled a possible terrorist on a train to paris. these three men helped stop a gunman. they were awarded for their actions. the 26-year-old suspect is from morocco. he opened fire on the train friday. the suspect, barefoot, there he is as police took him in custody. investigators say he hooked three people. >> my last year of college. i came to see my friends. we stopped a terrorist. kind of crazy. >> they said the country's antiterrorism prosecutor is in

washington guardsman aboard a blackhawk helicopter. they are dropping water on the fire burning in washington state. as the wildfires rage out west, president obama declared a state of emergency that is going to free up federal funds in washington state. they took an unprecedented step of asking volunteers to help fight the flames. the fires are burning 250 square miles. it's so chaotic, they can't tell how much damage there is. >> all is quiet after a night of protest in charlotte, north carolina. people are taking to the streets after a judge declared a mistrial. in the death of a florida a&m football player, a police officer shot and killed john than farrell in 2013. demonstrations were mostly peaceful. some members were called in when protesters started banging on the gates of a park.

the man responsible for a series of serious crimes is back behind bars this morning. police in bethesda, maryland say this guy seen in cuffs carjacked someone moments after he got out of jail. when he did it a second time, he set up a wild police chase. shomari stone has more. >> reporter: charged with armed robbery and first degree assault. >> reporter: the suspect carjacked a woman at the islamic education center half an hour after being releaseed from the nearby montgomery county center in potomac, maryland. he worships at the mosque. the woman works here. how is she doing? >> better, a little traumatized. >> reporter: he put a knife to her throat and demanded she get

out of the car. when she backed away, he threw a brick at her and then drove off. wednesday, he carjacked another woman, this time in a honda crv in northwest d.c. what is your reaction knowing he carjacked someone here, then carjacked someone else? >> i don't know what's going through his mind. i mean, it's crazy, especially when you come straight out of a detention center. >> reporter: he crashed on little falls parkway. he took off running. officers arrested him on massachusetts avenue northwest. he admitted to the carjacking outside the mosque. he says he robbed his sense of security. >> i will leave sooner or something like that. >> that was shomari stone reporting. news 4 tried to speak to both carjacking victims. neither woman wanted to speak. two parents arrested charged

with killing their 10-week-old baby. he faces child abuse and sex abuse charges in the death of his daughter. he sexually abused the little girl and shook her. the mom, also being charged. she saw the evidence of abuse, but did nothing to stop it. u.s. officials are calling it a significant development in the fight against isis. the terror group's second in command is dead. killed in a u.s. drone strike this week, according to the white house. an isis media leader was killed in that strike. this morning, south korea says it is ready for an all-out war. the deadline quickly approaching for seoul to dismantle loud speakers. seoul is blocking access to an observatory close to the border.

you can. this man may know something about the crash that happened on southern avenue yesterday t. 56-year-old died at the hospital. police say that the car that hit her was a black chevrolet tahoe. there's going to be a funeral today for a husband and father of 7 stabbed to death bay stranger earlier this month. someone stabbed smith after he bumped a child on board a metro bus. smith died 30 minutes after the attack in northeast. police have a suspect in custody. the funeral begins at 10:00 this morning at the new life worship center in capital heights, maryland. the cemetery superintendent is off the job this morning. a performance review questioned their ability to serve as a senior leader. patrick, the director of the army national cemetery military
